Birchmount Danforth chow

Pho Danang is a straightforward Vietnamese restaurant that's close.

Bristol Yard

As a Bristolian expat, the menu looks amazing. Gotta get there soon.

Good quality ice cream to take home?

Try St Clair ice cream, (which may have changed names), at Dawes and Danforth. They sell large containers for take-out as they manufacture right there. It's probably my favourite place to grab a cone, as they give huge servings, have lots of interesting flavours, and a real-slice-of-life clientele. My favourite is one scoop ginger and one scoop coconut.

Carter's ice cream - new on Woodmount @ Danforth, West of Woodbine

Never had an ice-cream cake there but Carters is a great addition to my neighbourhood. Give it a try!

chelsea buns, sticky buns, pecan buns and/or cinnamon buns in the GTA

Cosy Cafe at Danforth/Woodbine for Cinnamon buns. Mmmm, I'd love a good Chelsea bun.

Bars at Woodbine & Danforth?

Oh, I meant "the Kilt and Harp" too. Same owner as the Haggis though.

Friend coming for a few days from London, England. What can't she get across the pond that we do well here?

She may need two seats for the flight home! I know you're in the East End, so I recommend the Ital vegetarian roti from Danforth Roti, if you're buying local. I'm not saying they're the best for rotis (bit hit and miss), but that's what I always get. My parents like goat roti's but prefer Ali's or the Roti Lady in Parkdale.

"Sauce" on the Danforth

Ha, I think there's a few places on the Danforth doing the Victorian-Goth-Bordello thing without knowing it! Looking forward to something new - wish it was a little farther east.

Friend coming for a few days from London, England. What can't she get across the pond that we do well here?

English bacon is really good. My parents enjoy: Dim Sum, Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwiches, gourmet thin crust pizza, maple syrup, poutine, and ooh - nearly forgot - goat rotis!

Bars at Woodbine & Danforth?

The Groove Bar seems to be getting a lot of love lately - did you see Deca Diaries?. What's good to eat there? I tried the Kilt and Haggis on opening night but haven't had the chance to go back yet. Seems uninspiring.

Ethiopian restaurant in Scarborough

I believe I spied one on the North side of Danforth, East of Victoria Park. Otherwise, Hirut at Woodbine / Danforth?

ISO cheap 'n cheerful Italian with some atmosphere central TO

7 Numbers

Best Italian Sandwich

Colombo's has changed hands now and is much better.

ISO casual lunch at Parliament and Carlton!

The House, but service may vary. I like it though.

little india recs

My buddy swears by the Masala fries at Bombay Chowpatty

What's the best sports bar on the Danforth?

I like TKO's too.

Casual Dining in Niagara Falls

I quite liked the two Brew Pubs, Taps on Queen St, and Niagara's Best on Lundy Lane. The food was a steal at Niagara's Best, and although there were major problems getting it, they ending up comping our entire bar bill! I'll happily go back to both.

Argintine Mate Tea

The latin food stores in Kensington Market.

Friends from UK have a 5 hour layover at Toronto Pearson Airport tomorrow

Third that, Dim Sum is probably new for them and the Grand is very good.

$5 meal?

Any of the Ali Babas locations or Sultan Shwarma on the Danforth for good Falafel. Fresh Ginger at Yonge and Eglinton for Vietnamese.

Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?

Lunch specials from Ritz Carribean, on Yonge St next to the Jewellery Exchange.

Morgans on Danforth

I don't find the beer prices unreasonable - just the food.

LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release

Thanks for the suggestions. I sense a mission coming on.

LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release

Glad it wasn't just me with the Lupulus!

LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release

Picked up all three, and I may now be addicted to sour beers! Are there others you'd recommend? Also, need some tips for pouring that Lupulus - I'm not that patient.

Thanks for the post.

Chowfind? Shahi Tiffin- Pakistani-Danforth and Dawes

I think it may be Chinese Guyanese. I love BC, it's just that I tend to get take-out in the area.

2012 Food and Restaurant CHANGES and CLOSINGS

Bar-10-der at Donlands and O'Connor is gone.

Chowfind? Shahi Tiffin- Pakistani-Danforth and Dawes

No worries, I was going to try it eventually. What about the Carribean Fusion place up the street?

Chowfind? Shahi Tiffin- Pakistani-Danforth and Dawes

Tried it out on Friday and not as impressed as the rest. Biryani was nice - fluffy, not greasy. Dahl was oily and the lentils were undercooked. Channa curry was too oily also, but tastier. Keema nan was OK, again too oily and salty. Chicken Boti just tasted odd, a little off even. I probably won't go back again.

Lola Sushi

I still like it. I've tried the Soon Tofu soup too, and it's good.
