Dinner between Loyola U and Rockville

We had dinner at Royal Taj Thurs. 6/28 and enjoyed it. Our local friend took lots of leftovers home and had two more meals out of them. We were at Loyola on Fri. night 6/29 for the storm - YIKES! I had made a reservation for Sat. at Bistro Blanc and they called to cancel - no power. We went to the Stanford Grill in Columbia instead. One person had crab cakes, one Cobb salad, one pot roast. All fine. I ordered a variety of grilled veggies. They looked pretty on the plate but had some kind of spicy marinade which rendered them off-the-charts not palatable. Crazy. Two others at the table tasted and agreed. The waitress said they weren't suppose to have any kick to them, took them back and we weren't charged. We ordered a huge chocolate brownie dessert topped with whipped cream and 2 b-day candles for 2 of us. The four of us split it and the waitress comp'd it. The place was very busy and live music a bit to loud for our conversation. Thanks to the Chowhound participants for thoughtful leads.

Dinner between Loyola U and Rockville

We are attending a conference at Loyola U next Sat. 6/30 and connecting with old friends who live in Rockville. We'd like to find a place sort of halfway in between for a leisurely quiet dinner. One person is vegetarian. Good food, not fancy schmancy. Open to hearing your suggestions. Thanks.

Please Help - Best Restaurant.com Recommendations in Cleveland ??

I understand your point of view. To clarify - this couple is having a gathering of friends at their home to celebrate the actual anniversary in Sept. The certificate is a gift gesture for them to use at another time.
They are not stuffy / club folks... more practical / down home folks... I met them walking their dog in the park in Parma. I don't know them that well, see them once a year, and I was looking at restaurant.com as a less expensive alternative for my budget. But I wouldn't want to buy a $25 certificate at Johnny's and the food be so expensive that they end up with a big bill.
Would you suggest a few great food / good value restaurants that are not on restaurant.com ?

Please Help - Best Restaurant.com Recommendations in Cleveland ??

I live in Boston and want to buy a dining certificate on restaurant.com for a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary. I don't know Cleveland area restaurants. It would be great if you could check the website for places in these areas: #3 downtown & vicinity, #5 south/southeast and #6 south/ southwest. I'm guessing they'd appreciate more straight-forward fare, i.e., American, Italian, French vs. sushi, etc. THANKS for your suggestions.

What's your brunch recommendation for tomorrow?

Thanks to those who have answered. We don't want a buffet, so these three are possible. Additional suggestions are welcomed.

What's your brunch recommendation for tomorrow?

A friend from CA is visiting for a few hours tomorrow (Sun. 8/15). I will pick her up at BOS 7:30am and she needs to be in Gloucester mid-afternoon.
We're not early breakfast eaters so we'll go home and hang out a while (Newton). I'm familiar with Johnny's, Baker's Best. What's your recommendation for a place we can have a casual leisurely brunch with great food choices.... either west suburban.... or somewhere on 95 on our way north (Beverly? Manchester-by-the-sea?) ....or in Gloucester? THANKS!

Any great vegetarian choices for a restaurant.com gift certificate?

Today is the last day restaurant.com is offering $25 gift certificates for $2. I live in MA and want to get one for a vegetarian friend. The list of Chicago places is too long to include here. Would anyone be willing to go to the website and comment on possibilities? They may include ethnic options, i.e, Thai, Indian, etc. And up to 3-4 miles from the Roscoe Village area would be best.

Thanks for your help!

Any great vegetarian choices for a restaurant.com gift certificate?

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought one for Himalayan Heritage.

Any great vegetarian choices for a restaurant.com gift certificate?

There are 240 restaurants listed within 10 miles of his Arlington zipcode, 22209. That's too many for me to list here, but if you, or anyone else is who reads this, are willing to take a look at them on www.restaurant.com, you can comment on participating places. And if you are interested, you too can get a $25 certificate for $2. Enter promo code: FUN at checkout and hit "apply." The I have absolutely no affiliation with the website. It's just a good deal. I bought 6 certificates for Boston area restaurants today: $150 worth of food for $12.

Any great vegetarian choices for a restaurant.com gift certificate?

Today restaurant.com is offering $25 gift certificates for $2. I live in MA and want to get a certificate for a friend. Are there any featured restaurants on the website that have great vegetarian food in DC or NOVA?

I've searched this board and have read about Lebanese Taverna, Amma's, Saran, Rasika, Fusion, Jaleo and Del Ray. None of them are part of the restaurant.com deal. Nirvana on K is closed.

Sat. night - a place to linger and talk - good food too

Thanks for your thoughtful response. You have offered many options. If we go to the Biltmore and feel pressed to "move on," then the idea about going two places, i.e., one for dinner followed by another for dessert/coffee is a good one. If we need to leave Biltmore to keep talking, where would you go from there?

Sat. night - a place to linger and talk - good food too

Many thanks for the link. I enjoyed the reviews and creative use the b-ball scout's terms! I went to Biltmore's website. They don't take reservations. And is it an energetic (noisy) atmosphere? We're looking for quiet. Do you have suggestions outside of Newton?

Sat. night - a place to linger and talk - good food too

The primary need is for a restaurant that doesn't need to "turn over tables," or isn't crowded-pressured tomorrow (Sat.) night. The ideal would be a place where four old friends can linger and talk for 3+ hours or so. We prefer a place that takes reservations. We'd like good, interesting, moderately-priced food. Visiting in Newton, but have a car to travel 20 or so minutes in any direction. What do you suggest?

store that sells dried greek gigante beans in metrowest area?

Thanks to emilief, I just bought the dried beans at Sophia's in Belmont. $4.99 for 17.6 oz. I saw that they also sell them in cans, already cooked. One was in a plain brine, and the label for another looked like in was in some kind of marinade-ish thing. The image looked like maybe onions and red pepper. I bought them dried becasue I want to put them in soups and other recipes.
