What to serve with bahn mi? [moved from San Francisco board]
Looking for general suggestions for foods that might go well with bahn mi. Know that I will be serving bahn mi from Nom Nom but what else to provide guests with as sides or accompaniments. Thx.
What to serve with bahn mi? [moved from San Francisco board]
For a party, I am getting bahn mi's catered from Nom Nom truck. What other foods would go with it? Party will be a casual open house from about noon to 4PM, buffet style, and not enough seating for all. So food would have to be non-drippy and easy to eat. Suggestions?
Is there ANY good thai food on the Peninsula?
I like Bangkok Bay and Camerahn Bay OK but are there others mid-Peninsula that are good? Pls do not suggest Thai Time which I give thumbs down to.
Thai in San Mateo?
Just had dinner at Thai Time in San Carlos and it was one of the worst Thai meals in my life. All the food was one-dimension. Tom Kha Kai was essentially heated coconut milk with vegetables and very chicken thrown in at the last minute. One of our dishes had beef in it that was so tough it really was like beef jerky. We will never return. Don't go unless you love cocktails and don't care if the food is terrible after a few drinks.
Restaurant rec in SF theatre district?
Any recommendations for moderately priced restaurant near SF's ACT or Union Square--going with someone who is gluten intolerant (no soy sauce, pasta)?
For dinner party, Maya or Il Fornaio?
Thank you Poulet Roti...that's the criteria that I am using and based on that, going to Il Fornaio although not exciting. Better neighborhood for out of town guests...nice during daylight savings time, and the events coordinator is nicer than the person at Maya. The event is really to celebrate and not a conference of foodies. Thx!
Can you help me narrow down my Sonoma/Napa dining options?
Redd has great food, hip atmosphere, very good service. Found The Girl and the Fig OK...not as great as the reviews...felt more like a neighborhood restaurant. Bouchon had the best bistro food since Paris--succulent roast chicken, casual but attentive service, great baguettes.
Michael Mina: should I even bother?
MM will measure up to Gary Danko. Had great dining experience there--excellent food, wonderful, attentive service. Alternatives are Ritz Dining Room and La Folie.
For dinner party, Maya or Il Fornaio?
I have checked out private dining rooms in the SF Bay Area for small dinner party (of mixed age ranges) of about 25 people and my budget only allows for Maya in SF, Il Fornaio or a Chinese banquet type menu at a bunch of Chinese restaurants. Maya is in SF Chron top 100 but gotten mixed reviews on Yelp and I know what Il Fornaio is all about...thoughts?
