Some quick thoughts from a casual user suffering no shortage of opinions:

Some emphasis on content gets a little drowned out in all the white and bright, colorful ads sometimes. Giving users control over the darkness and size of default fonts would be a great touch. A high-contrast version(i.e. dark background, light text, larger fonts) might save some with vision problems a lot of trouble. Taking current styles from the video section seems like a good start for something like that.

The font and spacing changes are generally a win. I love a good serif. :) The new default user icon is very classy. ;P The home page really pops, but the latest from Chowhound there feels like even more of an afterthought than before.

All in all, a step in a better direction. Nice job, everyone.

Destination: Twin Cities Crawl

There is a lot of great in many different areas of culture in Minneapolis.

Al's Breakfast is indeed fantastic, but I almost don't even want to give Chino Latino the attention it takes to suggest that they suck horribly. I guess if you are into overpriced, overdressed and forgettable, then it's all right.

For a good bar/restaurant I would suggest Matt's Bar on Cedar for the Jucy Lucy, or the Chatterbox Pub on E 35th St for the video/board games and variety of furniture including things like a couch or two. As I recall the food was well, and I think they also have a unique sake they only make there, but I can't remember details at the moment..

One of my favorite sandwiches in the entire universe is the #7 aka Hot Shot Italian at Caffrey's deli right near Lake and Lyndale.

Vote for Your Favorite Fake Fruit

LOL at "Dewmocracy" and your analysis of the colored, fake-fruity beverages. I don't even care what is in the left column. I am fulfilled.

Salt and Pepper Shakers

Hehe.. I have the Hug ones, but they are blue and green and have slightly different head shapes. I think it's probably the same designer, though I'm not sure.

They have a dark, dual nature to them, as well. If you turn one of the figures away from the other, it appears as if one is chasing the other which is running away..

MSP Recommendations

Golooney's for some choice pizza, not to mention some tasty sandwiches. Galactic Pizza is a lot of fun. Caffrey's Deli has one of the most amazing sandwiches I've had in my entire life.

Any contemporary browser will provide you the option to open a link in a new window or tab. I like it when this decision is left in my hands.

I use Adblock for Firefox to get rid of ads. I'd recommend something similar if you cannot tolerate them.

A Cheeseburger By Any Other Name ...

Oh man, yes.. looooooove the Jucy Lucy. They are quite responsible about their cheese temperatures, though! In my experience, they always remembered to warn people. :)

MSP--- Pizza by the Slice? ?

Golooney's was one of my favorites when I was in Minneapolis. One of the reasons for this was that they let you select your toppings when you order by the slice. You're not relegated to somebody else's limited selection, sliced from pies that have been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long.
