Sushi in Pasadena?

My husband and I enjoy Noda Sushi - on Lake just above California. It's always filled with regulars on friday and saturday nights. May be too much of a hole-in-the-wall for what you are looking for though. We've always had fresh fish and great service. We've also never had any problems with Sushi Roku, just find Old Town a hassle and the prices to be high.

Need help - Hollywood casual delicious?

The Hungry Cat is just across the street - great drinks and fresh seafood (we always get the peel-and-eat shrimp and lobster roll) in a modern setting.

The best list of wedding cake bakeries in LA?

I third/fourth Fantasy Frostings. I used them for my wedding in 2005 and they were terrific! The price was great, they did exactly what I asked, and most important, the cake was delicious and beautiful. We visited them in Whittier (after many recommendations) even though it was a bit out of the way (we live in Pasadena). At first when we walked in, we weren't sure, as we had been to other bakeries that were a bit newer, more modern looking. However, after sitting down and describing some of our ideas, tasting various cakes, and talking and laughing with Leslie, we were sold. We were afraid to mention that we would need the cake and cupcakes transported down to Carlsbad (45 minutes north of San Diego) for a beach wedding, but they didn't bat an eye and showed up early, prepared for the sun, warm weather, and possible flying sand. It was an all around wonderful experience!

Girls lunch in Pasadena?

Any suggestions for a girls lunch in the Pasadena area. It's the first time I'll be seeing my best friend from out of town since she got engaged last month and thought it would be fun to do lunch on Saturday. We will be doing a little bridesmaid shopping beforehand.

I'm looking for something nice but not too fancy. I'm thinking mimosas, bloody marys...and some good food - salad, sandwiches, etc. I've decided the Ritz is too formal and Pie N' Burger is too casual (though i love it!). There will be 3 of us.

Any suggestions would be great!

Burger Continental in Pasadena---What's the deal?

I had the unfortunate opportunity to eat at BC a few years ago and found the place so dirty that I actually lost my appetite after sitting down. Also, I live a block away and have to listen to their LOUD music all the time. It's awful trying to fall asleep at 11pm during the week with the sounds of high pitched music and a man's screaming/singing coming through my window!!

What's your most recent WOW! Moment at an LA restaurant?

Last night at Campanile - the Sauteed Trenne - WOW! The most perfectly crisp pasta paired with incredible shaved parmesan on top of the most tender, delicious beef bolognese.

Blaire's in Silverlake - their Madagascar vanilla ice cream with hot mini-donuts - best dessert i've had in Los Angeles!

Pie N Burger's Milkshakes. How are they?

I think just the traditional flavors - Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry. Not sure though.

Pie N Burger's Milkshakes. How are they?

I live down the street from Pie N Burger and have had their milkshakes throughout the years. They use real ice cream which makes the milkshake have a nice thick consistency. Though I don't have them often, i always ask for a "black and white" which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup added - it's perfect.
