Din Tai Fung: Opening date?

I went by yesterday, they are not close to being finished, that said the opening is supposed to be late October/early November. It is hard to find if that is the room they are going to use, tucked away down a hall.

SEA: Szechuan Chef- 7 stars- Bamboo Garden

As of when I last ate at Bamboo Garden two months ago I can highly recommend it. However, I did not have the crab, the swimming fire fish is great though. A packed restaurant usually speaks for itself as well.

Spring Hill Restaurant

That's crazy as I had the complete opposite experience on the 2/27, for one the tuna rillette was a full ramekin that my mother couldn't finish and was excellent. My entree was pasta bolognese and was again too much to finish and again excellent, I don't really remember the other diners entrees but we were all happy and full when we left and I was really happy to have a "foodie" restaurant in my neighborhood.

Sports Bars in Seattle?

When I used to live in your area I would head to the Ballard Bar & Grill on Leary. Passable bar food, beer, pool tables/foosball/air hockey and a few old school big screens. Oh who am i kidding, its probably a condo or a shop selling dog sweaters by now

Where to find takoyaki (octopus nuggets)??

Sushiland, the conveyor-belt sushi place on lower Queen Anne has these, not exactly as above, but close.

(SEA) Fish and Chips

FYI, Sunfish is the best fish I've had in Seattle, but I like the traditional British-style breaded fish. As to the chips I have never had good chips at any fish & chip spot, what is the obsession with hand-cut fries? They are always greasy and limp! To make a real chip you need to blanch the chips first then fry them.

Looking for best Italian in Seattle area?

Agreed on skipping Volterra, I really like Barolo downtown if you want more of "high-end" Italian.

Seattle night market

Yeah, I went too, not exactly on the standards of Mong Kok in Hong Kong but I hope it will get better. I'll be there on the 18th.

My New York parents

I had my New York parents in town last week and of the three dinners we had (Flying Fish, man has that gone downhill, Qube, and Crow) they enjoyed Crow the most, very simple classic dishes well prepared with fresh local ingredients.

Irish Pub/Food

I play Irish music in several area pubs so I've sampled the food at quite a few. The best quality is probably either at the Wilde Rover in Kirkland or Paddy Coyne's in the South Lake Union neighborhood. Both are newer upscale type pubs with extensive menus of Irish specialties.

Looking for good Chinese takeout in Queen Anne

Uptown China is certainly the best in the Queen Anne area
