Steak in the Clear Lake area

Killens is great! It is in Pearland though. My husband still says the best steak he ever had in our area was at Pappa's Steak House in Houston

moist lemony cake recipe?!!?

I second Ina's lemon pound cake. I was also on a search a while back for a super moist, extra lemony cake, and i tried many. Though this has no curd, it is wonderful!

Pick 2 cupcakes, please. . .

WOW!! what a list! Where in the world did you snag all these recipes? Can you share/ give hints? :)

Clear Lake / Houston Dives

I second this one. Topwater is pretty darn good.

Chocolate mousse question

I agree, please post your grandmothers recipe if you can! I was in Paris last summer and the mousse was so darn good...

Stress Baking?

ohhh...those look so good. Yup, I will have to make those next. Chocolate on chocolate cannot be beat! Thank you!

Your new job sounds fun!! I hope both of our new ventures are successful!

Stress Baking?

How ironic...I myself am going through a job change after 7 years...STRESSFUL! Even if it is a change you initiated. I just made over 100 chocolate peanut butter cookies...good thing my boyfriend is a football coach and can drop them with the coaches!

World Peace cookies...what exactly is that?

Stress Baking?

Baking is therapy to me as well...thought I was a rarity, but I see I am not! Like Candy and Emme, when I lost my long time pal, my dog, Bandit...i was too sick to do anything for days, but I baked like a possessed soul.

I say whatever works, and saves us true therapy bills!

icing for icing lovers

I third the recipe request..looks dreamy!

Cake Balls?! Heard of them? Have any tips?

I made some tonight...they are like truffles, and sooo tasty. I was surprised at how good they were, I had my doubts with the box cake, store icing.. I considered making my own icing, but figured I would try it this way first.

I made red velvet cake, cream cheese icing (i did doctor it up with powdered sugar and some vanilla) I did just as TiffanyBlue said, but i did freeze the balls for a few hours prior to coating. Sprinkle colored sugar on top...done. YUM

Humus hummus hummous

Reporting back...I made the hummus...chickpeas, garlic, lemon, roasted red peppers...forgot the tahini/ (peanut or cashew)butter. Tasted it and it tastes as it always does homemade for me...

Remembered the key ingredient, and I had almond butter on hand...figured it cant hurt. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! THIS IS HUMMUS!

Thanks to all for helping...so good!

Humus hummus hummous

I know exactly whre I can find cashew butter...Thanks everyone :)

Humus hummus hummous

THANK YOU!!!
What a great idea, peanut butter, but I will look at Whole Foods, I do think I have seen 'sesame paste' at Kroger though...thank you all for the tips!
Hummus here I come!

Humus hummus hummous

Is there a difference in using tahini or sesame oil? Reason I ask, I cannot find tahini ANYWHERE, I live in the south, we have no Trader Joe's...anyone have ideas of where it can be found in the Clear Lake, Texas area?

And if not is sesame oil ok to use instead?

icing for icing lovers

Is this the frosting you are talking about? I dont have the book, and was wondering if this could be the recipe?

Bakers? Oatmeal Raisin Cookies - Advice

I would likely add a tablespoon or so, and I think it sounds like a great addition! I see no trouble doing both kinds of raisins. Both are subtle flavors. Sounds like your experimenting may be on to something good!!

Cake Balls?! Heard of them? Have any tips?

Brownie balls sounds great...and the Ice cream balls sound kinds hard to master, he must have some patience. I will do some other searching around for ideas, but I assure you that these little things are really good!

Cuisinart Mixer vs Kitchenaid? anyone...

Waring be-hive?? I have not heard of that...what do you knwo about it?

Cake Balls?! Heard of them? Have any tips?

I recently tried cake balls, and while not the BEST dessert I have had, it was pretty good. I have read that they are made with regular cake, regular icing, balled up, frozen and then dipped in melted candy chocolate.
Has anyone tried these? Do youhave any tips on making them? Any GREAT combos? Also does regular store cake and icing work? I am a make from scratch kind of girl, so this will be new for me!

Farmer's markets in Houston?

What is the one in Clear lake like? What do they typically offer? only fruits and veg?

pearland food

I agree with above poster that Central bbq is nothing worth stopping for. MUCH better BBQ elsewhere. When I finally tried it, i was shocked that people actually consider it good. Or maybe it was an off day for them...

Santa Barbara is great...well worth the trip, and you can bring in your own wine...or iuse to be able to.

Dommy’s Dinners: Chorizo Pt. 1 – NACHOS!!

That looks so good...i think i am inspired to make nachos for dinner now!!

Farmer's markets in Houston?

No cheeses, sorry. Only fruits/veg, some plants, some little package of stuff like dried fruit, nuts, trail mixes.

Farmer's markets in Houston?

I live in Alvin, and go to Froberg's weekly. MANY homegrown fruits and veg, but also some brought in from other parts of the area...worth the drive if you are not too far.

Also the prices are really decent

Houston-Star Pizza
