Where has all the Fresh Fish Gone?
I have tried every seafood shop in Chinatown as well as Chinatown in Brooklyn, and basicly looking for whole, bone in fish, not fillets, due to what some of the previous poster mentioned as additives in the fillets, and I have not found any fresh whole fish. Even the shops in Hells kitchen are not up tp par. When I mean fresh I mean the eyes have a clear Black iris, not foggy grey or glossed over or white, when the iris is white or light grey, dont even feed it to a stray cat, maybe bury it in the backyard for mulch, but to be honest this in the only fish I have seen recently in the above locations.
I had hoped in with the Lenten season coming up someone might know of some neighborhood shops that still have fresh fish at under 15 and 18 dollars per pound.
The cost of going fishing now a days is about as much as buying a 4 months supply of fresh fish, and after shelling out that kind of money in cold weather there is no guarantee of catching anything.
Where has all the Fresh Fish Gone?
I used to be able to go to one or two stores in Chinatown or one of the two stores in Hells kitchen and buy good fresh fish, but now it seems as though all of the fish regardless of price, have grey instead of clear Black iris: eyes. Where can one buy fresh fish now adays without going to Hunt's Point at three in the morning, or paying 12 to 17 dollars per pound, for 6 dollar per pound fish?
Sovetka Vodka, unbelievable taste and Smoothness, better then Svetka

Cocktails in Montreal
Are cocktails served differently in a club then at a restaurant?
I had a vodka matrini, at 2 high end restaurants, Bonaparte, and Chasse et Peche, and it was served with ice cubes and in a cordial glass.
Montreal public market thread-2009
I have been going to JTM for 8 years now and never had a problem with English, now most of the special and nice places like Pan D Or and Hamel, no one speaks English there.
Havre \glace did not apear to be ice cream by the texture appearance.
I did purchase some realy exotic mushrooms, some beautiful mini blue potatoes and some zuchini flowers, that are not available in NYC.
Unfortunately | saw no fresh fish since the eyes were cloudy at both fish shops.
I like the butchers at Atwarer better, since the meat is not hidden in vac packs.
All in all the market produce was breathtaking to see as always.
Poultry based cold cuts?
Are there any charcutries , cheese shops or butchers that sell a wide selection of , chicken, or turkey based,

Any bakeries? location in Montreal not a concern, thank you
Montreal--Downtown Late Night Dining
would avoid Boustan, the meats are left over, and their pita is like cardboard, for a bit of a more upscale Le Ferriera on Peel has portuguese upscalr cuisine and is open late, also I think La Montee is open late also
where to purchase natural, chemical free charcoal for the 4th of July?
Does anyonw know of any specialty food shops or high end hardware stores that have
"claen coal" real old fashion charcoal, not that kigsford stuff or other coals soaked in chemicals
Any Native Canadian Sascatchuan or Inuit restarants or eateries?
thank you but I was hoping for something closer to downtown Montreal
Any Native Canadian Sascatchuan or Inuit restarants or eateries?

That museum, was my reason for inquiring, thanks a million

better weekday lunch option, Chasse et Peche or Chez L'Epicier?
Which of these restaurants is the best for lunch dureing midweek
Montreal Supermarkets--at or near Downtown
Fleur de Cel, fiddle head ferns, black and white peppers, confit in a jar(specislty shops)
British meat pies, and the cookie section has a great assortment of Quebec only treats
Montreal Supermarkets--at or near Downtown
Provigo is not in any way typical of a Montreal supermarche.
They (St Cath) have practically no meat section and half the store is set up for frozen and ready to heat precooked meals.
5 Saisons is nice but pricey , but the IGA in Alexis Nihon, realy has the Montreal flavor.
One can spend a day checking ou the different breads alone.
Excellent meat section with many things we don't have here in the states, excellent produce and nice cheese section, also a fresh fish section.
This place is huge compared to NY standards
good fish- West End Mtl
Fish ain't eay these days, here in Brooklyn I have 3 in walking distance and all have "stale-eyed" (white iris intead of black) fish, so even treking into Manhattan to Chinatown and it's numerous stores one has to pick and choose carefully.
It would be worth going east of the village there,
to Papineau and the industrial looking La Mer; there you definately can't go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scallops in the shell!!!!!!!!!!!
Late Night Eats
I would suggest Lemeac, or Ferreira.
Boustan is more of a fast food type esablishment, with cardboard like pita bread and the lamb and chicken is never cooked fresh late at night, just warmed up left over
Chez L'Epicier, still a good choice?
After hearing the news about the chef change at Laloux, i was wondering if L'Epicier was still a good destination, since there have been few recent reviews
Buying caviar
Do they have molossol (less salty) hackieback?
And what metro or bus is adjacent? Thanks!!!
