Ko Olina Area

I have also heard that the Aulani is expensive and the food not good. Next door is the Ihilani (a Marriott property) and they have a family style restaurant - Naupaka. Ihilani also has an Italian restaurant - Azul. The ravioli is very delicious. There is also a convenience type store nearby - I believe its the Island Country Market or something like that. Its an ABC Store with a deli in the back. There is also Koolina Hawaiian Barbeque which serves plate lunches. They might also be open for breakfast but I'm not sure. This is all in the Koolina resort. You can drive out to Kapolei where there are numerous chains to dine at (McDonalds, Costco, Wendys, etc.) and also a large Safeway. Hope you enjoy your stay - your kids will probably love the Aulani. Bring lots of sunscreen, they'll probably want to be at the pool all day every day!

THAI LAO REST., Halekua Center, 563 Farrington, Kapolei, 674-2264

Joebob - I've been meaning to visit this restaurant and had the opportunity to do so today. My co-workers and I enjoyed our meal. We ordered the calamari, House salad, Panang curry and pad thai noodles. Everything was delicious. I felt the servings were generous. The fours of us couldn't finish everything except the calamari. The restaurant, as you stated, is very nice and also clean. It is quite busy with a lot of diners as well as take-out orders. Thanks for the post - wouldn't have thought to go there without it!

And don't forget Eat the Street Kapolei is coming up! April 14.

FINALLY, Eat the Street comes to the unfulfilled maw that is Kapolei. Which are the "can't miss" trucks?

ETS Kapolei scheduled for April 14, 2012, 4 pm - 9 pm. Hopefully they won't reschedule again!

They just postponed it until April!

The Pineapple Room

My family and I had dinner there last night and although the food was great (had the kurobuta pork chop) the service is lacking. It took a while for the server to come to our table. I ordered a cocktail which seemed to have been forgotten. My husband had to inquire about it. When it finally arrived I picked it up to drink it (vodka martini on the rocks) there was some other leftover drink in the glass. That was pretty unappetizing and disgusting. Our food took a long while to arrive and the restaurant was NOT busy. It took so long that our server even acknowledged the wait and apologized. Bottom line is that the food is great but don't have high (or any for that matter) expectations on service.

Doraku at Royal Hawaiian

Has anyone tried Doraku at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center? Will be spending a weekend in Waikiki and wanted to know if its worth it. Is it just sushi or does it have a full menu? Thanks!

Brunch in Honolulu

Just recently went to Sunday Brunch at Azul at Ihilani. Enjoyed it very much! Chef Blaine and his team do such a good job as well as the great bloody marys from Sheldon the bartender. Would definitely recommend.

Vietnamese in Leeward Oahu

Any recommendations for Vietnamese food in Leeward? Pho Mai at Westridge was a preference for a very reasonable family oriented Vietnamese restaurant that's not in town. Its been closed a while and haven't seem to be able to have decent Vietnamese food unless I drive into town.
