POLL RESULTS: Ultimate OC Restaurants, 2009
Why no links to these locations? That would help next time.
Capital Seafood Irvine
I'm looking into this. All the online/press materials list ONLY Irvine as the newest location ..so not sure about this one in San Gabriel. The name is slightly different. Still, stay tuned to my original post for any clarifications.

Fresh and Easy open in Spring Valley/Casa de Oro
Yes, F&E has eggs..and milk. I've been writing a lot about F&E since it announced plans to open in Orange County. I cover it on my food blog. There's an interesting dialogue going on, in my last post..Many people are weighing on on what they LIKE, and HATE about the store. Here's the post:

Best Burger in LA
Wow. Did these comments ever surprise me. When someone asks about the "best burger" in LA, Morton's does not come to mind..My first thought was obvious: In-N-Out Burger. (Animal-style, preferred)...There's another Discussion about Tommy's somewhere else on this site...Having a chile-slathered Tommy's is an experience worth checking out, especially if you go to the original Tommy's on Alvarado.
And, yes, I have eaten the Morton's appetizer burgers and they were fantastic. But, what do you expect from a burger made with filet mignon? C'mon. Ali B -- is this the kind of response you wanted? Fancy schmancy burgers?
Or, do you want hard-core, street level patties dripping with juice?
What about a Carl's Jr. Six Dollar Angus burger? Or, a Johnny Rockets burger. (Fresh, hand-pressed patties. Yummy.)
Just my thoughts,

Birthday Dinner in Laguna Beach
If you don't mind heading north to Costa Mesa, Turner New Zealand is terrific. They are a all-organic fine dining establishment. The meat is fantastic. Location: 650 Anton Blvd
Costa Mesa, CA 92626; Phone: (714) 668-0880.
If you must stay along PCH, may I also suggest Salt Creek Grille in Dana Point, where the Pork Chops are absolutely divine. So, is the Mac N Cheese side dish.
Hope that helps, Nancy

ISO Breakfast in Irvine
I'm surprised no one mentioned Pacific Whey Cafe. Two options in Newport, and the new one at the former Crystal Court in South Coast Plaza...Pastries and breakfast are supposed to be out of this world.
But for the quick eats in all of us.....I just posted an item about Starbucks' new breakfast sandwiches on my blog...And before you say, "What the heck? Give it a shot , first..."
For, $2.95 and the convenience of grabbing a latte -- all in under five minutes .....It just might be worth the trip....

After the Angel's Game......
You got to hit Portillo's in Buena Park ..A bit out of the way from the stadium, but off the 91 freeway. Best Chicago dogs, and Italian beef sandwiches in Orange County.
I hear the burgers are good to.

Someone explain The Fascination with Tommy's and Pinks?
I have to agree with Jase and others. It's not about the burger. It's about the experience. When I was dating my husband, he told me he moved to California for two reasons: To be a rock and roll star (didn't happen), and for Tommy's Burgers. He took me to the Original Tommy's during one of our first dates, and we had a blast. Gotta love the chile-slathered burgers with beefsteak tomatoes and sliced pickles. But, its the waiting in the line getting served allegedly by the nicest ex-cons in LA, and the bathroom-style napkins needed to wipe every drip of chile off your chin that matters most. Sometimes foodies need to stop and think about food in context, not just the ingredients.
