Newest Farmers Market in Marin County I went to this farmers market over the weekend, and I really enjoyed it. I bought some extremely fresh organic produce, a piece of fresh pie, and cheese. I also bought a homemade spicy ketchup. All delicious. Oh...and I had a freshly extracted veggie juice. I like this FM because it isn't huge and its in a nice location. |

1 night in SF: Bar Tartine or Pizzaiolo? I would do Bar Tartine. I think Pizzaiolo is over rated and its in Oakland. If you want that type of pizza try Pizzaria Delfina or A16...both in San Francisco. I personally prefer Marzanos over Pizzaiolo if you are going to be in Oakland. I go to Marzanos on College Av. ----- Delfina Restaurant Bar Tartine Marzano |

where to buy restaurant quality prime rib to cook at home in LA? It sounds like Harvey Guss is the way to go. Not a bad drive from W LA. My dad has been to Jar and raved about it. Bryans Fine Foods is in San Francisco and Marin near where I already live, and everything there is excellent, including their homemade frozen meals. Maybe I should just get it up here and hand carry it to LA?? Anyone bought meat at Vincente Foods in Brentwood? Their selection looks pretty good, but very pricey. If we spend the money for quality, I want to make sure the quality is actually there. |

where to buy restaurant quality prime rib to cook at home in LA? I'm heading down to LA for XMAS w/ my family (Brentwood to be specific) to grandma and grandpas house. Last year, my dad bought a horrifically fatty, gristly prime rib from a reputable butcher near his office in Santa Clarita. It was practically inedible. I told him I would find a better place to buy the prime rib this year. So LA hounds, please tell me where you can get the best quality prime rib in LA to cook at home? And cooking suggestions also helpful. Ideally a place in West LA, but willing to drive for the best beef. |

SF is really the opposite of NY when it comes to fashion. It is "anything goes" here w/ no rules at all...to a fault sometimes. Coincidentally, the last time I was at the Waterbar, I saw a girl wearing what appeared to be a stripper outfit, which was definitely out of place. I would say dress casual elegant as you have already planned. |

Alexanders Steakhouse in Cupertino Wow. It seems like nobody likes this place. The food looked SOOO GOOD on CPBA, and with all 3 people knocking themselves over with how good it is, Im surprised by the response here. We are relatively new to the bay area, living in the east bay, so havent spent much time in "silicon valley" and thought it might be nice to explore the area. Plus Alexanders is very kid friendly, whereas a lot of restaurants in the city are definitely not. Isnt there a new steakhouse in the city that also serves kobe beef? Maybe we could bart into the city for dinner and get a baby sitter instead of an overnight for Alexanders. Oh...and YES I definitely want to try Manresa, but it is my husbands birthday, and he likes tasting menus, but we generally do those for my birthday because I LOVE them, and we do italian or steak house for his birthday. Cyrus is definitely on the list, but I consider that to be tied into a wine country trip which warrants a weekend and not just an over night since we havent yet explored the Alexander Valley. |

Alexanders Steakhouse in Cupertino Hi All, Havent been here in awhile, but looking for some recent feedback on Alexanders Steakhouse in Cupertino. My husband and I watched an episode of check please bay area and it looked amazing. All 3 people loved it. We have been to several steakhouses in the city and they are good, not great. We love Mastros in Beverly Hills. It is the best, and havent found a steakhouse in the bay area that delivers like Mastros. We also recently tried Cut in Beverly Hills, Wolfgang Pucks new steakhouse and it was also really good, and a fun scene. The asian twist plus kobe beef at Alexanders is appealing. I probably wouldnt order the KB, but since it is my husbands birthday he may order it. Anyway....I have booked a 6:30PM reservation for next saturday night. Here is the caveat. We are coming from the east bay and decided to stay overnight in a hotel close by so we can eat and drink without having to worry about driving back to Walnut Creek an hour away. We also have to bring our baby because we dont have anyone to watch her over night. She is generally really good in a restaurant so not a huge issue. Is Alexanders worth staying overnight in San Jose and bringing the baby to eat a birthday dinner there? |

Foodie parents visiting town. Recs near WLA please I second Luques. It is EXCELLENT. One of the best meals Ive had. Ive been there 2X. AOC is also good for a lighter meal of small plates and wine. Sona is also supposed to be excellent. |

Hi All We are going to Michael Mina tomorrow night for the first time for our 4th anniversary. Can anyone recommend or make a suggestion regarding menu, wine pairing, list etc to enhance our experience? Thanks |

What exactly does halal do to the flavor and quality of a turkey? Is it similar to kosher? Is halal becoming a trendy food requirement like organic or do people want it for religous reasons? |

Is there any decent place to get Cioppino in the east bay? I cannot find any reco's on here. |

3 dinners in S.F. - are my choices good ones? I would do a16 over delfina any day. While both places are equally hyped, A16 consistently serves excellent food in a great atmosphere in a much nicer neighborhood. The 2X I have been to Delfina, just about every dish I ordered was terrible. |

I need a new San Francisco Taqueria I have been to all of the taqurias you mentioned and all are basically the same...pretty average. Have you tried Nicks Crispy tacos on Polk St? It is supposed to be very good. |

Authentic Jewish Deli in Bay Area? Brents deli in Los Angeles is also excellent and worth the fed ex charges to get it up here to the bay area. They are used to shipping food up here. I havent had any decent deli here yet. I am going to try Sauls in Berkeley even though I hate Berkeley and swore I would never go there even for food. |

Marin - Dinner for birthday? Good food, festive. I third buckeye roadhouse. Everything there is really good and it is fun (for marin) |

decent bagel shop in Walnut creek area? Please help! I just moved to Walnut Creek from SF and the only bagel shop I have found is a Noahs, which has doughy flavorless bagels. I am looking for an independent shop ideally where the owners have actually tasted a real bagel from NY. I did like Noe Valley bagels in SF which offered slightly more authentic bagels along with 3 types of lox. Is there anything decent in this neck of the woods? Double points if there is a decent NY style deli. I know this is asking a lot, but I am having relatives in for the next several weekends who will expect bagels and lox on sunday mornings. Thanks! |

best indian delivery in san francisco I love a creamy chicken tikka masala that is well spiced, but not over kill. I also like butter chicken, and good samosas. I like white meat chicken too, and dont want to order from a super divey place cause sf has no ratings on their restaurants. The Naan also has to be top notch meaning not soggy or rubbery. |

I am craving a grilled hot dog, and would like to know where the best hot dog is in San Francisco. Also, does Rosamunde sausage grill sell hot dogs and are they grilled? I also love chilidogs, but I dont like beans in the chili...where can I get this? |

I LOVE Mastros....the cheesy scene at the Beverly Hills location adds to the ambience. The best app is the sauteed shrimp. It is the most decadent to die for dish Ive ever had. Ruth Chris (BH loc) on the other hand is maybe 1 notch above a Dennys. My husband and I COULDNT believe how downhill that place went...both in food quality and atmosphere. I recenty had to leave LA to move to San Francisco for work, and while SF is a great restaurant town....it totally lacks in steakhouses. SF NEEDS a Mastros, a Boa, a CUT, a DAKOTA...anything. They keep opening the same type of "cal cuisine" restaurants with the same freaking menus here. |

How is Taylor's Refresher, REALLY? The thing that is cool about Taylors Refresher is being able to order a bottle of good wine to eat with your burger. That is the novelty of eating there in my opinion. |

God...I LOVE greek food. It is so hard to find here. Ive been to Mezez a few times and it is pretty good. Some plates are very good like the tomato/ouzo shrimp. Im totally going to the greek festival. |

must not miss: Danville to Hayward? Thanks Fussie. Thats good to know. I think the Danville location is closer to SF than the Los Gatos. |
|
|
must not miss: Danville to Hayward? Does anyone know why the Forbes Mill in Danville does NOT also have kobe beef on the menu like its los gatos counterpart? Unless they havent updated their website, it appears the los gatos menu is far more extensive and expensive. |

Do they have good Gyros? I would love to taste several different types of gyros. YUM |

Whole Foods Coming to Noe Valley??? I live in Noe Valley, and for such a supposedly upscale neighborhood, I am stunned there is no decent grocery store, heath club, or day spa in the area. This side of town is STARVED for decent amenities, with a grocery store being first on the list. I am so sick of schlepping to the Pac Heights whole foods, and the disgusting Safeway always out of everything in Diamond Heights. I |

Best upscale Mexican in Bay Area? Colibri is the best for upscale in SF period. Then Zazil, then Mamacita (decent food, fun atmosphere). DO not waste your $$$ at Tres Agaves...it is horrible. If I felt like eating this type of food, Colibri, HANDS DOWN, is the best place to eat....far above all its competitors. |

small plates/tapas near the mission? You should definitely check out Andalu. The small plates are amazing and so are the drinks. It is a really fun, happening place on 16th street and guerrero. Book in advance as this place fills up fast. They also have valet parking which is very convenient. |

Belgano, SF - has Leonidas chocolates, Laduree macarons, Kookez cupcakes - anyone try it? Kookez cupcakes are $2 and the same ones at Belango are $3.50. These places are within 3-4 blocks of each other on 24th st. |

A16 is next on my list for italian restaurants to try, but after reading your post, I am reluctant. Take a look at my Delfina review....I think it is possible when restaurants become too popular and over hyped in this city, they go downhill. Ive had this experience at several top rated restaurants over the past few months, and I am really getting fed up dropping 100-150 per meal not to mention wasted calories on terrible food. |
