Does anyone have a Miele oven?

We have installed the Miele speed oven and the steam oven and love them both. The fit and finish on all the products we have seen from Miele are first rate. The creative juices get stirred and the effort is rewarded. They give classes at Miele HQ here in NJ and probably at the showrooms elswhere. Customer service has been great. ( No I don't work for Miele and have no stake in company.) ...just want to share the joy!

Thai Coconut Chicken Soup

Sorry, I should also have added that I used shrimp, shitakes and baby bellas; and I was heavier handed with the chilies, cilantro and pepper flakes. Our local Thai restaurant offers shrimp as an alternative to the chicken, so I used what I had. I think that boneless, skinless deboned chicken thighes would work great. Maybe even tofu and snap peas?

Thai Coconut Chicken Soup

I am very pleased with the results, even though I could not get the galangal and had to use ginger (less of it than the amount of galangal called-for) and doubled up (at least) on the lime rind and juice( as I did not have the kaffir lime leaves either. Thank you for this posting: I love it!!

Quality Chinese Food in South Jersey

I second the recommendation as to West Lake, but would suggest you not go on a Saturday or other weekend night. We (3 of us) were actually asked to hurry up and leave because people were waiting. No, we weren't lingering or unnecessarily taking up space. The owners were that rude and even people at the next table were offended! However, if you must, get a reservation and stand your ground. Otherwise, go on a week night.

Equally good, closer to you, but much smaller and plainer is Far East Taste in Eatontown ( Exit 105 GPS). It also has wonderful Thai and Malaysian food, helpful waitstaff who will make recommendations, and very wonderful food. I eaven got a point higher on Zagat's, the state's highest, I think. Bon Appetit!

Any experience with the Jura-Capresso Impressa E8 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine ?

Unfortunately, it was in Shrewsbury N.J. but they probably have htem set up elsewhere. There were also some machines, but not as many in Sur La Table, although they were the less glamorous machines.

Need advice on appliances for renovation

My neighbor selected Jenn-Aire for her entire kitchen which was re-built after a house fire. She had horrible luck with all appliances and recommended that I avoid same. This was four years ago. Hopefully they have improved. Best of Luck with your project. Ours is just beginning.

P.S. We love our bosch d/w...very good value,as well.

Grapefruit Spike

I had a "grapefruit martini" recently at a local, very excellent restaurant. All they did was use freshly sueezed juice with a premium vodka. They rimmed the glass with something they called "grapefruit dust" which they said was dehydrated grapefruit rind pulverized with orange rind and sugar.

Any experience with the Jura-Capresso Impressa E8 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine ?

The online product manual for the F9 does indicate that it makes ristretto but I did not read it carefully enough to find out how. It might be just that you ask it to make an extra small version of its expresso which would likely result in a stronger product.

I am also trying to decide how to proceed and whether to buy the F9. It does make a good cup of everything I tried at the local Williams Sonoma where they have a bunch of machines ( including other makes) up and running so you can learn the machines and hopefully make a good decision based on personal taste.

I came across a new (to the American market) built-in by Ariston that grinds beans and is shallow enough to be built into upper 12" (12.6") cabinets, unlike competitors.

Does anyone have any experience with Ariston? Or with Miele?

I tried the Ariston and it did make a good cup of coffee, though I liked the F9's better. (The F9 has 18 bars and the Ariston...and all others I saw had 15 bars)

Thank you for any comments.
