le comptoir- new system
yeah, well the chef likes his weekends. Take a look into to kitchen to see who's cooking on sat and sun...
La Regalade St. Honore - How bloggers are destroying the Paris dining scene
Good value for the area, but to tell the truth, a hour's wait between starter and main course is inexcusable. And the starter of scallops was stone cold. We left without dessert.
Help us narrow down our Florence list!
I'd be interested in knowing if anything new, cool and/or groundbreaking is going on in Florence at any level. Restaurants, bars....... any ideas?
One night in Miami for discerning food explorer - moved from Florida board
Hello all. It's rare that I reach out, but I've found myself in Florida, and will be in Miami for a night this weekend. As I'm both a concierge in a bigtime hotel in Paris and food writer/blogger for a number of glossies, my criterea are: nothing too French based (I can get the best back home). Other than that I'm totally open without much of a price point problem. I will also be with my little girl (12) who has sophisticated tastes and loves Thai, Indian, Japanese. We're not averse to "trendy' places either (although Hakkasan looks a bit over the top). Any thoughts?
l'Ambroisie -- still mean?
Arpege , tremendous value??? It's one of the most expensive in Paris!
New “casual place” by Iñaki Aizpitarte near/ next to Chateaubriand?
Been twice now. Loved it. Great review by Phyllis. You'll hear about it more soon (I've just completed reportage for two big name glossy mags..... shame on me)

heh. Maybe you should start another thread. And go there.

"A few weeks ago", uh, not quite. It wasn't open.
Are There No Good, Inexpensive Places In Paris?
Under 30€ for lunch without wine though, yes
Le Voltaire: what a disappointment!
For me, it's always been rude, expensive and touristy. No surprise there.
La Table de Joel Robuchon to close - Forever??? :(
La Table is closed. The new Atelier in the Drugstore Publicis is open with their staff..

Indeed. My experience there has always been hit or miss, up and down, mostly I think to do with Inaki's mood (or if he's even there! which isn't often the case..) . I think he's important, just don't think he deserves the level of adulation he has had (much of which from female expat bloggers) . I think it's a combination of funky food and sexy chef.........

wow a post banned by the Rem Koolhaas architect's copyright ..
has anyone tried lasserre since the chef christophe moret took over?
Yep, friend and colleague of mine did last week. Found it quite good, but he had the lunch menu, which was a bit limited. He said a faire few of the classic Lasserre dishes were still on the menu and that Moret's cooking was pretty tame, but very good for a two star. A client of mine also went and said that although it will never be his favourite two star, they had a good meal and good wine, and that service was very pro, but stiff.... high marks from both parties for the wild hare and the langoustines...

I'm going to check on it later..

Opening today I think. Get ready for the blaggers, hangers on and just plain freaky Inaki worshippers to clog the net with how great it is.
Speaking of O Ya: is it possible to experience without breaking the bank?
Is an average price with a few drinks really $150 pp??
Is O-YA really Boston's best sushi?
Well, I guess O-YA it is... I'll report back shortly..
jalapenos, tortilla chips, and masa harina - can I get them in Paris?
Now two new places: El Nopal near the Canal offering buritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc with no (well, two stools) and real Mexicans (homemade and handrolled tacos, but premade tortillas, helas..) and Rice and Beans , in the former Rice and Fish California style sushi that apparently does some good Tex Mex style food....(American and French owned and run though..)
Douzo downhill alert
Went a couple months ago- found it ok, nothing inspiring, as well as being very pricey for what we got ...
Is O-YA really Boston's best sushi?
My only experience of sushi in Boston was Douzo a couple of months back. As all my trips here are sort of last moment, I really rely on expert obsessives such as you folk ;) Does the new Boston mag Top 50 have any credence?
O-Ya looks really pricey too, and I regularly hit the Michelin stars........
Was thinking Myer's and Chang, Ginger Park..... know they're not Japanese but fusiony things are cool for me too...

I live in Paris and write about restaurant trends there where I know my stuffm but I was just wondering what you all (those in the know) thought about O-YA. Or indeed any other place for dinner that would not be any derivation of French (because I can get all the good stuff at home). Groundbreaking or exceptionally done trad places are fine..
Noma dethrones El Bulli as worlds best restaurant
My yawn just yawned ......oopps excuse me , or was that just another Top 50 Best thingy?
jalapenos, tortilla chips, and masa harina - can I get them in Paris?
and be prepared to pay through the nose at these American style specialty food shops...
Sunday dinner in Paris--thoughts on Les Ombres, Druant, Benoit?
Drop Les Ombres - mediocre food, touristy, rude service .....nice view though
Oldest restaurant in Paris??
Actually, it started off as a café (the first?) and has become a restaurant
