Looking for a cooking class/dining experience for a present?

Has anyone tried out the courses at the Inn Keeper's Kitchen lately? I'm thinking about checking it out but thought I'd see if anyone had experience with it recently. Thanks!

Eleven Madison Park Drinks

Sorry I never replied to this: But THANK YOU!

Eleven Madison Park Drinks

Hi -- meant to thank you for the suggestion and link (yes, very belatedly!). But this was the mix sold (and now discontinued) at WS so I will continue to search!

Lo (Lu) Shui recipe?

A belated thank you. Will try!

Eleven Madison Park Drinks

Does anyone have an idea how to make what had been Eleven Madison Park's ginger cocktail (the Remedy)? It had gin, ginger, lemon? Williams Sonoma had also been selling a version of it for a while (obviously without the gin!).

Best Prime Rib in Boston?

Hi,
We are looking for the best prime rib in Boston. We used to live in Los Angeles and went to Lawry's Prime Rib every year around new year's. Is there anywhere in Boston comparable? Lawry's also had great sides: creamed corn, creamed spinach, the spinning salad bowl, yorkshire pudding..... I know, can't have it all but we'd settle for something close! Thank you!

One day in Beijing, going solo, what to eat???

Too late, I am sure for 2Slices -- but can anyone recommend street food better than Wangfujing snack street and Donghuamen Night Market? I've seen both places mentioned a number of times now -- but honestly, some of it really was not that great. It's great for novelty but foodwise, I thought some of it pretty mediocre.

Last time I was on Donghuamen, there was a beggar that just sat there receiving rejects from tourists and locals. Some of it was also awfully gimicky (ok -- my sister and I TOTALLY fell for the XiaoLongBao with a straw....but no soup inside!).

Face Changing /Bian Lian Restaurant Options in Beijing?

Hi, can anyone familiar with Beijing recommend a place to go for a face changing show? I have friends coming and would love to introduce them to it. The only one I know is at the tea houses (eg, Lao She but I wasn't all that impressed with the rest of the show (or the snacks); I only liked the bian lian.).

I know Ba Guo Buyi has a 10-15 minute show in the evening. I also understand that Xu(?) Guo Buyi has a nightly show (but I'm not sure what kind of restaurant that is).

Comments? Other suggestions?

Beijing & Chengdu recs for adventurous family

Hi, Has anyone else gone here? Or know how much it is likely to cost? I have friends coming and thought it might be a good place to experience imperial cuisine with a face changing show.

RenDa Area Suggestions?

Clearskies, you are great! Thanks! (On the BeiDa suggestions, I assume that these are actual restaurants where I can use cash?)

RenDa Area Suggestions?

I'll definitely check out BeiDa. I was at BeiDa for the first time this week so I'll have to do more exploring there. I've been exploring mostly on foot but I'd take a cab if I knew where to go! As for food preferences, I'm really open to most things -- though I do feel that I have not had very good Chinese food so far.

Thanks also for the dim sum tip. I know I'm going to have a craving! Thanks, Clear Skies!

RenDa Area Suggestions?

Hi Clear Skies --
No, actually I'm a bit south of Wudaokou. I'm between the Zhongguancun Carrefour and Shuang-an (basically between third and fourth rings), a few blocks east of Haidian Park. Any suggestions would be most welcome as most of the food recommendations I have seem focused on the other side of the city. The result is that I've been eating quite a lot of "ordinary" Chinese food lately! Thanks!

RenDa Area Suggestions?

Hi, I've just settled into an apartment near RenDa and am in Beijing for a few months. Can anyone suggest any places to try in the area? Thanks!
