4 nights in Sonoma

We are just back from our trip to Sonoma. We ate at The Girl and the Fig, Sante', Eldorado Kitchen, and Harvest Moon cafe. The highlight by far was the HMC. We sat outside on the patio. The menu changes daily. The food is excellent and the wine list is small but interesting. Jason our waiter could not have been more helpful nor have a better attitude. The owners are the chef and pastry cook as well and they are very nice. This was our best dining experience. Highly recommended! GIF has a great bar and the patio outside is nice. The food is good but not great, but worth a meal if you have several days in Sonoma. Very nice wine list concentrating on Rhone wines. EC was a our least favorite meal. Outside patio is nice but they seem to be trying too hard to be like a San Fran restaurant if that makes sense. Food was fair, service was poor. People next to us were seated much later than we were and they were served before us. The place was crowded but the whole scene including the food turned us off. Sante' is in the Sonoma Mission Inn. It has a Michelin star. The place is pretty, the service is nice, and the food is good. However, Im not sure I would go back. It is very expensive, however the 3 course tasting menu, which we had , is reasonable. I will say the mac and cheese with lobster was fabulous, but as a whole I just didnt feel I was getting a Michelin experience. I mean, a $35 glass of Pride Merlot on the wine list? Come on! When your steak comes out it really should be more than luke warm , right?
Go to HMC, GIF, and by all means stop by the Sojourner tasting room to try the best Pinots you have ever tasted! M

4 nights in Sonoma

We will be in Sonoma in a week and would love some restaurant ideas. We enjoy good food but are not into the drawn out multi course meals ala French Laundry. Fun local places that have a long history of being consistently good would be nice. Any places with outdoor seating? . Any thoughts on the Michelin rated restaurant at The Sonoma Mission Inn? I greatly appreciate any ideas. M

Taking 21 yo son to Vegas

I appreciate the input. There are so many options in Vegas. I think I will stick to some of the Wynn options and let him make his own late night plans! Thanks again. M

Taking 21 yo son to Vegas

Im taking my son and a friend to Vegas for his 21st birthday. While I may prefer the top places like DB i dont think he will find that up his alley. Any thoughts? I have been told Dos Caminos is fun for dinner. He likes asian food as well. For lunch( if he is up!) we might try the Burger Bar or CC. We are staying at the Wynn and are seeing LOVE with dinner somewhere afterwards. I would greatly appreciate any ideas that would help make this trip a memorable one for my son and his friend. Im also very aware that at 21 he wont need my help to create memories in Vegas. ! M

221 South Oak in Telluride, CO

I have been there many times and have always found the food excellent. It has been a year since i have been there, however, and things could have changed. Also try Cosmos and Hongas(sp?). M

50 th Birthday dinner

I want to thank all of you for your recs. Of course, now im totally confused.Im leaning towards The Dining Room at the RC.The menu looks great as does the wine list. I will have to get over my aversion to hotel restaurants. I know this is very different. If the chef leaves I will rethink. If not the RC than I may just go to Bix for the atmosphere if not so much the food. Everyone I know who has been liked it. Thanks again.

50 th Birthday dinner

Thanks,Scott. I know the RC is not typical but I pefer to get out of the hotels and try the local restaurants.

50 th Birthday dinner

My wife and I will be in SF in July to clebrate my 50th. We will be staying at the Ritz Carlton. I am open to any ideas. I hear the Ritz dining room is great but I have never been a big fan of hotel restaurants. I have generally found them to be overpriced and lacking in quality. We have been to A16, Zuni cafe, and Aqua in the past. We liked them all. Money is not a big concern. I just want a nice , fun, atmosphere, good wine list and great food. Gary Danko, Bix,?? Thank you for any recs. MW

Thank you fo the help. Several friends just returned from SB and gave rave reviews to The Stonehouse at San Ysidro Ranch. It could be because they stayed there. I will try several of the recs. and report back upon my return. MW

Good food and fun atmosphere near Four Seasons Hotel

nsxtasy you have been a big help. Thank you!

Good food and fun atmosphere near Four Seasons Hotel

Thank you all for your input. I know I have many diverse wonderful options. My wife has indicated that she would like seafood and wants to eat near the Hotel. Our two meals at NoMi and Trotters will be with a group. We will want this meal to be good , but more relaxed and less "formal" if you know what I mean. Do you think Hugo's Frog Bar would be a good option? If so, any thoughts on what room or table to ask for?

Good food and fun atmosphere near Four Seasons Hotel

Thanks for your help.I will report back. Trotters and Nomi are business dinners set up by others. I dont really know what to expect. I will give a review on each after I return. Thanks again. MW

Good food and fun atmosphere near Four Seasons Hotel

Yes, we are "stuck" at the Four Seasons for this trip. Walking is not a must but would prefer to. We just wanted something more relaxed than Nomi or Trotters.

Good food and fun atmosphere near Four Seasons Hotel

My wife and I will be in Chicago in early April. We are set to dine at Nomi and Charlie Trotters. Any other suggestions on good food and a fun atmosphere within walking distance to the hotel? We would prefer something a little more casual than the above restaurants. I hear mixed things about Bistro 110. I would appreciate any thoughts. MW
