It was a waste $30 and that was lunch prices, they don't even have wine, that was just 2 entrees and a appetizer & soda.
The broth in The Tom Kah soup, was SO bland and I ordered it Thai hot??? It was like a bowl of milk with chicken and raw mushrooms, I had to doctor up just get some flavor in it.
The Satay is great though, they have a mini BBQ so cute, nice touch.
I think they cater to american taste buds.....so lacking flavor in both our dishes!

YES we would never sit down to eat at Teji's, very much take out.
We love Lamb Korma and Chicken Saag and had a amazing appetizer like a dip once, will have to look up and post.

We unfortunately had a not so good experince here, it was from begining to end.... of things going wrong and our food was just so so and we had to settle for other things due to not having certain items. BUT we should know better then to read hype and get our expectations to high.....we probably won't be back. I feel we could of went to a chain restaurant and received similar food, sad to say, but true for us.

Had Teji last night, spot on as always-yum.

Teji to us, is most authentic, we just get to go, not much for a eating area there. But they have great finds in there market! It'sOpposite of Clay Oven downtown, which was so tasteless.
We liked Chola, but the last time it just was blah, no flavor, which I think happens here is they tone down the food for american taste, but we prefer the real deal, I can make americanized at home.
We have not tried the buffet at chola, we are not buffet people.

Substitute for Trader Joe's in Austin?
"I understand that TJ's is about to open in Dallas" that's exciting to read....hope it is true, I have heard oppisite, because of wharehouse stuff, etc.....
I love Central Market and Whole Foods, so I am happy here already. Regular HEB not too bad either. Have to check out Fiesta, been meaning too for a long time~

All of above do not have anywhere close to TJ prices. The cheese here is SO expensive, I SO miss TJ's!!!
Newflower has some things a little less, but then some stuff is way more then other places too, so it all even out. There store brand is not organic either.
Visiting Austin - Need Recommendations
Shady Grove and Austin Java, have a real Austin Vibe and pretty good.
We loved WINK & UCHI-expensive but worth it!
Zax was really good for a fair price.
Thai-We like Thai Tara on 6th
Central Market has a fun atmosphere and a great food selection, also Whole Foods, super busy though anythime we go, so be patient!
If you enjoy vegitarian Cas De Luz is tha place for it.

Disappointing meal at Wink: is it (still) one of Austins ten best?
We had quite the oppisite meal then some written above. We walked in and greeted with a smile and felt at home.
Sat down and took in the feel of the place and felt like a big dinner party at someones home, everyone seemed to be having the same uttlery amazing experince as we were having. This place has flavor. Definitely topped our list as one of the best meals we have ever eaten.
The waitress was amazing also, she made it all complete!

WE went last week fantastic, felt like we were back in Cali....had the albodingas soup-amazing flavor. One fish taco- just how they should be done!
We spoke to them that they will have to get a bigger place and they said they hope to add on, if store next to them leaves, so that is a good sign.
We are telling eveyone to go, so it's all word of mouth.
Go, I bet you'll enjoy it, if you like baja style mexican.

Po'Boy Genes
OK I was taking DH out to have the 'best' po'boy I was thinking and nope he was very let down, the shrimp were cold and swimming in mayo, bread good though.
I had the seafood gumbo, pretty good flavor, but the seafood was missing for the most part. They serve you crab without anything to open it. I had to send back to reheat...to pleasing temp. I like hot soup.
SO where else can you get a po'boy here in Austin, worth writing about, TIA.

I love the Rosie by Grapevine market, I went in during taste of 1890 ranch and they were way to busy, like you said the new business's need to work out the kinks and then we are set!
Are Janie's Pound Cakes Worth the Dough?
Nothing Bundt Cakes is fantastic also, no pound, but similar texture in other flavors, we have been addicted!!
