Whats Your Favorite Salad in DFW

One of my favorite salads is the chopped chicken salad at cafe R+D (R & D kitchen). It is fresh cucumber, mango, lots of cilantro and noodles topped with tender grilled chicken and a warm dressing.
I second the support for the III Forks house salad. Nice mixed greens, granny smith apples, gorgonzola, and roasted pecans.
Used to love the southwestern ceasar at Star Canyon or the Ceasar in a pot from Ferre. Of course Star Canyon salad is still the winner.

Late-nite bakeries in DFW?

LaDuni on McKinney is open late with terrific desserts. Fabulous quatro leches cake, chocolate cakes, baked alaska, and more. Multiple locations. I think the McKinney location is closed on Monday's though.

Best Cinnamon Roll in Dallas

I must agree. Mecca has the meca of cinnamon rolls. It is about the size of the entree size of a foam take out container and topped with a dollop of what appears to be whipped butter. To me it is the classic iced cinnamon roll-not my favorite but my husbands. I prefer the sticky bun pecan topped version.

Favorite Eats on Maui

Staying at the Ritz Kapalua. Out of the way. Since we are $$$$ for our accomodations affordable food options will be very attractive.

Favorite Eats on Maui

Will be staying on Maui in Sept and are looking for dining options. We have enjoyed Roy's and Hula Grill-a long time ago. What are your favorites and do you have any places we should avoid. It will just be the 2 of us. thanks.

What happened to Urbano?

HIp Hip Hooray Urbano is reopening with smiles on their faces in May. In East Dallas. Can't wait!! Probably will be much easier to park as their is no chipotle right around the corner!

What happened to Urbano?

We absolutely loved this place from it's original location to the McKinney Ave outpost. Was sad to read it had closed and then see the notice on the web page regarding it's closing. Too bad. Anyone have insight to what caused it's closing.

Sabrett in Texas

You can buy them in the grocery store. Here in Dallas they are sold at Sprout's-Arizona chain and Hebrew National are sold at Target and at Tom Thumb. I could go for a Sabrett right about now.

Birthday celebration in Dallas

We love Local. If it is a small party I think it is great. For larger parties > 6 or 8 I think it is too loud and difficult to hear. If you have never tried it it is a wonderful restaurant, great atmosphere and hip vibe. Try the tempura green beans they are great.

DFW - Lunch Salads

You have to try Snappy Salads 2 location Preston and Forest or Northpark. Great lunch spot and very reasonably priced. Locally owned by former brinker employee. Wonderful concept and owner sells organic and runs his restaurant as green as possible-including biodegradable potato starch forks! Give it a try.

LA Hound coming to Dallas

I will second the La Duni dessert recommendation and I hope it is not too late to send you to two of my Dallas favorites. I highly recommend local. Please visit their website localdallas. I also really like Amuse. It is out of the way but there are some interesting bars nearby-Gilley's and Poor David's Pub. If you do not make it to laduni you could try going to it's sister restaurant ALO. Dallas has great food and none of these will break the bank, just impress your palate. And if you are interested in BBQ try Sammy's near the federal reserve, don't skip the potato casserole!

Dallas - Most innovative Chef & Restaurant?

My favs in that category: LOCAL- has the winning combination, great restaurant vibe, wonderful menu, good atmosphere.
Amuse- innovative and affordable, off the beaten path but well worth the detour

Best Fish tacos in Dallas?

My DH loves the fish tacos at Cafe San Miguel on the south side of Henderson. He is a big ftaco lover and thinks they are the best in Dallas. They are tilapia and fried in a tempura like batter. The best he has had in Arlington/Pantego area were grouper and at Mijo's. In my experience they are typically fried-don't know if that is authentic.

What are the must try places in Dallas for people visiting Texas for the first time?

Oh my goodness, Has no one ever been to Sammy's. They have wonderful bbq and is a dallas original. they have 2 locations, one near fed reserve and the other in preston center at Northwest Highway. The chopped beef or chicken sandwich will melt in your mouth and the potato casserole could be a meal in itself. This a down home hole in the wall that is flooded with suits during the week that know good Texas BBQ. They even rent out for weddings and rehearsal dinners. If you haven't tried sammy's seek it out, it is worth the trip. http://www.10best.com/Dallas/Restaurants/Barbecue/index.html

cool restaurant cool neighborhood

We love LOCAL, the food is excellent and a little pricey but I doubt as pricey as SP. Another less expensive favorite is Amuse. It is across the street from Poor David's Pub and Gilley's if you need a little night life, not sure how busy stuff will be on Monday night. If you want a detailed review go to guidelive.com for either. Happy eating-(BTW I second the LaDuni rec, I think I will go there for my birthday, very affordable and oh so good-one location is actually closed on Mondays so call ahead!)
