Making chicken tenders ahead

I don't mind reheating in the oven - it's the last minute frying I'm trying to avoid.

Making chicken tenders ahead

I want to have friend chicken tenders at a party but I don't want to be frying them right before the guests arrive - any advice on how to make them ahead and then serve them in close to fresh condition?

Flower Show Tea?

Thanks for the info. I'm not surprised to find no recommendations! But I thought it was worth asking about.

Flower Show Tea?

I'm coming (like so many others on the board) to the flower show and I see online that they have a tea at the show. My first inclination is to dismiss it as having a high potential for mediocrity - am I wrong? I love a good tea and if this is one I'd jump to go.

converting recipe from grill to oven - any tips?

The stuffing is an apple, sausage, greens and goat cheese mix. It is stuffed into a pocket cut into the tenderloin. The tenderloin i then wrapped in bacon (which I think would make browning it hard). The instructions say to grill the two tenderloins for 25 minutes (turning to get all sides) over moderately high heat.

converting recipe from grill to oven - any tips?

I have a recipe for a stuffed pork tenderloin that was written for the grill. Since it's December I'd much rather cook it inside - any body have tips on converting the cooking info for the oven?

STEAMED CHRISTMAS PUDDING

My great grandmother used to put grape juice on her pudding, as she was a tee totaler. The family never let on to her that the juice fermented while sitting and the pudding was as alcoholic by the time it was served as any other!

Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

Thanks for the suggestions - we ended up sending food instead of a certificate. Maybe before next year's birthday something will open up.

Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

True - but a bit out of my budget!

Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

I hate for him to drive far, especially at night. But a super place that had lunch would work.

Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

I've seen all the raves for Cori's online - somehow it doesn't scream "speacial occasion gift" to me ; )

Help! Any ideas for a good dinner place east of Nashville?

I'm looking to buy a gift certificate for dinner for my father. He lives just west of Lebanon. Are there any good places in the Hermitage/Mt. Juliet/Lebanon area that chowhounders would recommend?

Cold Greek main dish?

We ended up with so much rain forecast we had our picnic indoors : (

I made: tsatsiki, skordalia, meatballs, zucc. fritters, spanakopita, a greek style chopped salad and served olives, sardines and pita. It was great. Thanks for all the help!

Cold Greek main dish?

No poll, I'm basing it on my knowledge of the guests (all family). They won't even eat fried calamari.

Cold Greek main dish?

I'm okay with octopus but more than half the group aren't - including the guest of honor.

Cold Greek main dish?

I'm doing a picnic with a Greek theme and I'm having trouble finding a main dish that I can serve cold (or at room temp). I'd love to do lamb or sausages but every recipe I see says "serve hot." Anyone have ideas for me? Please?!

La Cabriole in Chattanooga - info please!!

Will do - thanks for the tip.

La Cabriole in Chattanooga - info please!!

That's kinda what I expected to hear! I may try to pass the info on to my father so he can surprise my stepmother with a dinner there.

The Best Pimento Cheese Ever

Never? My Mother hails from Tupelo, Mississippi and she wouldn't think of making Pimento Cheese without scallions. And it isn't because she likes "frou frou" nonsense - it's because that's the way our family makes it.

Obama ads on Chowhound

No demographic group is fully consistent in any one way or another. But broad trends can be found and in recent years the affluent in the US have tended to support the Democratic party (excepting the very rich who are still reliably Republican).

La Cabriole in Chattanooga - info please!!

I'm comeing to Chattanooga with my French stepmother and my six year old son. I know she would just love authentic French food - but I can't find much concrete info on La Cabriole. What I can expect a dinner to cost per person? Wold a (reasonably) well bahaved six year old be welcome there?

Obama ads on Chowhound

So - younger and more affluent and better educated - all markers that trend Democratic. Interesting Melanie, thanks for sharing.

Obama ads on Chowhound

I was curious - not sarcastic. And while, yes, some ads are put in places where the demographic is hostile, it's rare. The prevalence of the Obama ads on this site makes me think they are not a throw-away like that but represent a calculated attempt to reach out to a demographic group perceived as potential supporters.

Obama ads on Chowhound

Certainly Obama has more money to spend without a primary opponent. But they aren't going to run ads for no reason - they will target them to get maximum benefit. They must have data that supports the idea that people interested in food and cooking are more likely to vote Democratic than not.

Obama ads on Chowhound

I'm with those who say the ads are here because they were placed here as part of an ad buy (not because of some CBS political conspiracy....) What's interesting is that Chowhound users are seen as potential Obama supporters. Is being a "foodie" an attribute that advertising folks see as leaning Democratic? Are we more urban? Are we better educated?

How to make Whipped cream like the stuff from Whole Foods with EGG in it?

I used to work in a bakery and we ould occasionally put an egg yolk in whipped cream when we wanted it to have a custardy consistency. We stopped after one of those raw egg slamonella scares. Maybe WF is putting powdered egg, not raw, in as a stabilizer.

Best ever chocolate sauce?

I'm making profiteroles this weekend and I'm tired of my old chocolate sauce recipe. Who has a killer recipe to give me as a substitute?

Best apps for Chowhounders?

Thanks for the links. I found nothing when I searched "app" and "apps" in this board - I looked at Food Media and decided it would not be the place to look. Mea cupa!
