How is Bacchus these days?
Used to be a great reliable spot years ago, then it went through a disaster period and I vowed to never go back, but now I see some good reviews as of late, so I am hoping it went through a management change and is back to being solid. I need a dinner spot on Atlantic, walking distance from F on Smith and the Atlantic Ave hub and this would be just right.

Burritos in Park Slope
Hi all,
I am taking my daughter to a picnic in Prospect Park today. We want to get burritos and then head to the park. Where would be a good place for that? TIA.
How is August these days?
I just got 30% discount for several restaurants - Kingswood, August, Plein Sud. August seems like the best bet. What do you think?

Tribeca without breaking the bank
Hey all,
Looking to have a casual dinner tonight with a friend - are there any good restaurants where the entrees don't cost ~$25? I searched, and everything seems to be in that price range.
TIA.
Cafe near Staten Island ferry (Manhattan side) please!!
Financier is better, but FIKA cafe is a bit closer to the Ferry.
Reliable and Moderate
Fellow chowies,
Looking for a reliable and moderately priced restaurant downtown for dinner this Sunday. $15-20 per entree - something along the lines of Jean-Claude in SoHo. TIA.
Discount/Wholesale Liquor in NYC? (wedding)
Yes, bingo. Diagonally across the street from Totonnos (two birds, one stone!). It's called Best Buy Liquor.
Good date spot in Carroll Gardens
Hey all,
Looking for a good spot to have a glass of wine and a light meal and linger. Doesn't have to be super romantic, but quite enough to have a conversation. Thank you.
Looking for new financial district lunch places
I think Mangia is nothing special, and RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Yea, I understand they have to pay rent for their prime location, but it doesn't make their food taste any better.
Looking for new financial district lunch places
I think Pret-a-Manger is far better than Cosi for sandwiches and salads, so definitely try that. Fresh organic food, same prices. Also can't laud Financier enough. Of course if you grab a co-worker, you should gave Adrienne's Pizza. Also, the gyros at Zeytuna are MUCH better than Alfanoose. Sometimes I think I shout into the void when I say this - Chowhound surely has its favorites, lol. Also, Taste of Tokyo is a fine option for a lunch box.
You know what boggles me though - we don't have a single Vietnamese restaurant on Wall St. I mean, this screams business opportunity. Somebody, please!
Is this a date? dinner spot
Fail.
To the original poster - Le Gamin, 'Ino, N, Le Colonial, Lucky Strike, Cafe Gitane, Petite Abelle (any branch).
Everything is booked out...help
Agreed. Also, try Aquagrill, they might have something. Or go to Blue Ribbon early, leave your cell #, and go hang out in a bar nearby till the call you. It may not be up there in terms of food, but it's still a great NYC place to try.
Laid back but cool place for a glass of wine and a bite downtown?
Thank you, maam! :-) Did you ever try that gelato at Financier on Stone St.?
Laid back but cool place for a glass of wine and a bite downtown?
Would like to try something new. Favorites are 'Ino and N on Crosby (Bar 89 used to be a fav. as well). Downtown, please. Thanks!
Possible to eat healthy?
For lunch, Pret-a-Manger has never let me down - fresh organic salads, soups, and sandwiches. As far as dinners - don't see the problem, since I go out once a week and can eat whatever I want.
Drinks after Babbo - HELP
Well, it's not an easy one - you are in NYUville, so you know who the drinking spots there cater to. If you have a small party, I suggest L'Angolo - cozy place with everything from awesome cappuccino and tiramisu to a full selection of alcohol. It's run by Italians, so pretty close to a real deal.
FiDi street carts
With food prices rapidly rising I am more and more inclined to turn to streetcarts at least 1-2 times a week. I love gyros and shish kebab plates ones - which one is best? So far I think Zak's in front of the Harriman Bros (the black building with the red cube) is best, but they smother everything in sauce, no matter how much you stress that you want little of it. What are your choices?
B'way and Fulton--lunch options
/\ OP, do you work for Thomson Financial?
Not much in the immediate vicinity - Zeytuna is a good choice, a great variety of food, and their shishkebabs are much better than Alfanoose. Bennie's Thai on Fulton is the best Thai on Wall St. in my opinion. I also second Zaitzeff for burgers.
Of course if you start walking north you are in Tribeca, so that's a plus.
Chestnut or Jolie?
Thinking to go for early dinner tonight ( at 6), hopefully don't need reservations. Which would you pick?
Best coffee shop in Brooklyn (to read and study in)
consumer democracy wins again. to the original poster, i think the tea lounge is the best place, hands down. at least they know they are in business of selling coffee and tea, without political pretensions.
Tatiana Restaurant and Club, Brighton Beach
Other posters who are saying that the food is not really Russian are correct. Russian food that is in most people's minds (borscht and blini) is considered to be.. well... peasant food. These restaurants are trying (pathetically, of course) to aim higher. Therefore you will sooner see things like eel and duck salad rather than pelmeni. It's still great fun though. Russian kitsch = best kitsch in the world :-)
