Can anyone suggest a cigar bar that serves food in either the DU or Wash Park neighborhood? Trying to plan a get-together before tonights Neil Young concert.

Has anybody tried it? I've seen it on their menu and it looks like an intriguing combination.

Marco's Coal Fired Pizzeria Denver Colorado

I think it's been pointed out earlier in this post that Marcos uses a wood-fired oven for their pizzas, not coal. We are eating there tonight, so I will get that clarified.

Airport food

Had a quick dinner at Bonfire with the family last week at JFK before our flight departed. Not sure who wants a $50 steak in an airport, but the $13 burger w/ fries seemed like a bargain for an airport. Served with bacon, aioli, cheese, and grilled onions. The fries were stellar. A few quibbles: burgers only available medium-well or well, charged for soda refills. Order the aioli on the side for the fries.

Marco's Coal Fired Pizzeria Denver Colorado

If you get backlash for that comment it will be undeserved. Marco's pizza is hands-down better than Proto's, especially the crust. Had a quick lunch there a few weeks back and we are planning dinner there later this week. Thank you for a heads up on the wings. One observation from my previous visit. I think the name is confusing. It's "Marco's Coal-Fired Pizza", but they specialize in wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. Do they do the NY-style pizzas in the coal-fired oven?

Some cities may have banned it, but not NY. It's available throughout the city.

If you are going to hold fast to the requirements, that rules out Marcos. True Neapolitan pizza requires a wood-fired oven, not coal. I

John's or Totonno's?

It is a location issue. We will be in the city for a short period of time. Totonnos is near our hotel and Johns is close to the theater. The family is not up for a qwest, just looking for a combination of quality/convenience.

We are considering the Johns on W. 44th or the Totonnos on 2nd Ave between 26th and 27th.

We will be in town next week and due to schedule and location, have narrowed our search to John's or Totonnos for pizza. Please help us decide.

Looking for some Denver Recommendations

Sams does a better than average breakfast, but their coffee is subpar and their Mexican offerings get high praise on this board for reasons I haven't comprehended.

Looking for some Denver Recommendations

A few suggestions:
For breakfast, I like Snooze. If you factor the 16th Street shuttle in, the walk shouldn't be too bad (7 blocks). http://www.snoozedenver.com/index.html

While not technically a brewpub, Falling Rock Tap House has the most diverse beer list in town. http://www.fallingrocktaphouse.com/

As for golf, I think Arrowhead Golf Course is a great experience for someone visiting the area. As far as transportation goes, I would check with your hotel. http://www.arrowheadcolorado.com/arro...

Best Mex on 38th? (DEN)

I've never had brunch there, but have had lunch several times. Good, not great, green chile. I like their crispy rellenos and the carnitas are also very good. I don't know why, but there have been Denver police officers dining there every time I have visited. Curious to see if that holds true for brunch.

I like Da Lat on Federal. Not only is their pho awesome, they have a broad menu for those in your party looking for something different.

Best (or good) Mex in Boulder/Longmont?

It's at 451 S Pratt Pkwy, just north of Ken Pratt Blvd on the west side. They have extremely good green chile w/ tons of heat. Some dishes we enjoy are the Chile Colorado and the Green Chile Ribs.

I guess chains are like pornography: you can't define them, but you know one when you see it.

Best (or good) Mex in Boulder/Longmont?

For traditional, I second the recommendation for Efrains and keep in mind they also have outposts in Boulder and Longmont. We also like Delicioso in Longmont, which now has two locations. Their service can drive you nuts at times, but if you aren't in a hurry they have excellent tamales, burritos, green chile.

I don't believe I called it a local independent. I just questioned what you categorize as a chain restaurant. I guess if it means a person and/or company owning or running more than one restaurant, that makes Rioja/Bistro Vendome, Thomas Keller's places, and many others "chains".
