Good place for lunch with vegan options, a full bar and something for a pescatarian? Fino would fit the bill. They open at 11am, full bar, both vegan and pescatarian options, close to campus. |

Gift Card for friends....sort of. As a vegetarian, I'd say that Eastside Cafe, Fino, or Blue Dahlia might be good options. Also, just throwing it out there, we had an out-of-town family member buy us a gift card to Antonelli's Cheese Shop and it was one of our favorite gifts ever received. ----- |

Great food with veggie options and music for couple in their 60's This could be tricky, but two things that came to mind: Blue Dahlia has great vegetarian options and live classical guitar on the weekends (not sure what the actual schedule is). Jovita's has decent vegetarian options and live music, too. I'd agree that you're better off separating the dining from the music. |

Seeking downtown office lunch catering I had Wheatsville cater a breakfast meeting last fall and they did a really great job. Rockstar Bagels, breakfast tacos, fruit, juice, coffee. They were really great to work with, affordable, and everyone loved the food. |

We've had success with vegetarian options at La Condesa, Fino, Wink, Uchi (they'll do a whole vegetarian tasting menu if you ask), and Second. We've never gone, but I was told Aquarelle will also do a vegetarian tasting menu. We also recently had friends tell us they had a great vegetarian meal, assembled across a few courses, at Hudson's on the Bend, which surprised me. I guess they try to have at least one vegetarian entree now. ----- La Condesa |

Your favorite vegan dishes in Austin? There's a number of really great vegan trailers. I'm vegetarian, but when vegan friends have visited from out of town, the options at these places have been huge hits. The Eastside Drive-in trailer park includes the Vegan Yacht. Counter Culture on North Loop Iggi's Texaterian behind Cheer Up Charlie's Any of the Ethiopian places in town would be good choices, though Taste of Ethiopia in Pflugerville is the best option in my opinion. Mr. Natural always works out well, too. If you're looking for more upscale options, Uchi will do a veg-friendly tasting menu that's really amazing. Vegans Rock Austin is the best local resources for identifying options, especially if you want to know whether or not a particular Indian restaurants uses ghee, etc. http://www.veganaustin.org/restaurants.php?veg=2&local=1&closed=0 And this blogger always has great posts about local options, including this top 10 list from last year: ----- Counter Culture Taste of Ethiopia |

Newish Eats Downtown for SXSW 2011 - Accessible Without a Car Actually, the Rainey Street location is moving (has moved?) to the parking lot of The Grackle, right near Liberty at 6th and Chalmers. By the looks of their website, they do appear to be carrying over the Rainey Street menu. http://www.eastsidekingaustin.com/ |

We just had the vegetarian tasting menu at Uchi last night and it was amazing. We did about 6 courses and it was closer to $30 a person. Like ebloom said, the chefs made lots of great new dishes on the fly. The grilled cantaloupe with shaved fennel and garlic chips was particularly memorable. |

Vegetarian options at BBQ pits? As a vegetarian, I'm not sure where it ranks as far as "famous BBQ joints" go, but Ruby's has a few substantial vegetarian options, including a vegetarian jambalaya. |

Vegetarian tasting menu at Jezebel? I emailed Uchi to confirm that the vegetarian tasting menu was still an option and received the following response: "We can always put together a vegetarian-only menu for you. Just let your server know when you sit down what you're looking for & they will work with the chefs to take care of you." |

Vegetarian tasting menu at Jezebel? Thank you so much for this information. We hadn't realized that Uchi offered a vegetarian omakase menu. I just made a reservation and we're both really looking forward to it. |

Vegetarian tasting menu at Jezebel? I've read through all of the recent Jezebel posts, but I'm wondering about something more specific: has anyone had their 4 course vegetarian tasting menu? How was it? We were considering it for an upcoming birthday dinner. Thanks! |

My current favorite is the cheese plate at Primizie. It includes a little pot of local honey, lots of fruit, and generous portions of interesting cheeses. I was pleasantly surprised by the plate at Taste, too. It includes some interesting accompaniments, like candied shallots and pickled rhubarb. |

Restaurants willing to modify for special diets? FYI, we just called Jezebel to make a reservation and were told they'd be closed 6/6-6/12. Seemed odd... |

Need a Veg friendly place for intimate dinner The Farmer's Tasting menu at Zoot is always our first choice for a special occasion dinner as a vegetarian couple. It's always creative, seasonally fresh, and delicious. I'm going next month for my birthday and I've been counting down the days. I've been underwhelmed by Wink's smaller selection of veggie menu options and when they prepared a special vegan dish for me when I was still vegan, it was a pretty boring assortment of grilled vegetables. |

Whole Foods usually has a vegan pumpkin pie (I saw it there last week) and Wheatsville also typically has a few vegan options. Good luck! |

Bellagio, What's Up with That? Is this Bellagio or Botticelli's on Congress? I just read this same thing about Botticelli's happy hour special on Yelp. |

I just happened across the site for Enoteca Vespaio/Vespaio, buried on the second or third page of Google results -- it includes the menu for the Sunday brunch: |

My husband and I are vegetarians and tonight was our first visit to Little Thailand. Many of the dishes are listed with a veggie option. Dick explained that certain dishes like the Thai Curry don't include tofu and instead just leave out the meat. We had the Pot Thai with tofu and the Pot Nua with tofu -- both were delicious. |
