Per Se price increase

Does anyone know if the lunch price is different from the dinner price? Thanks.

Who has the best blue crab handroll?

Echigo's blue crab roll is my favorite because, of those places you listed, it seems to have the most crab and the least dressing. And the nori is nice and crisp. But you can't go wrong at the others, either.

Good Brunch in mid-town/3rd st & La Brea area?

Hesitant to give away my little brunch secret in that hood, but Luna Park, at La Brea and Wilshire has a good brunch, with no line ever. And you can even get OpenTable points if you reserve 15 minutes ahead of time online.

Also, Campanile does do brunch, but reservations are definitely necessary. It's a very nice brunch.

Loads of places in the Farmer's Market do tasty brunch as well (though Dupar's is not my favorite... you have to be into pork products in everything in order to enjoy it).

Grace review

I'd sad to report a rather uninspired meal at Grace this past Friday. Went with BF for our first meal there... had such high hopes based on what the 'hounds have all said. But our server was completely absent and never offered any insight on the menu, and our entrees (wild boar and rabbit) were dry, overcooked and generally lacking in flavor. That said, the pork belly appetizer was great, and the short ribs were nice (after picking around the loads of tough, flavorless snails). And the sommelier, once our joke of a waitress *finally* sent him over, gave a good wine recommendation and was definitely the personality highlight of the evening. Overall, a very uninspired meal. Not quite what I would expect for $300 for two.

Fried Chicken

Yes, it's definitely true. "Said person" is no longer involved and the service has improved much. However, not everyone likes overpriced, deboned fried chicken. If it's your thing, though, it's gooooooood.

Best Steak in Los Angeles?

I've eaten at both. Thought Nick and Stefs was good, not great. And ambiance is bland. Jar has very cool decor and a hip though slightly older crowd. Can get a little loud though. Jar's food is excellent. Not the most otherworldly steak I've ever eaten, but very solid. The best steak I've ever had was actually the bone-in ribeye at Boa on Sunset. But definitely recommend Jar over N&S's. Jar's wine list is fairly top shelf, though.

How is Eat on Sunset?

Before you go, call and make sure they aren't hosting a party there that night. The two times I've gone, the patio has been converted at 9:30 sharp into a sketchy hip hop club... kind of spoils the otherwise nice ambiance. Food is uninspired and not the very best ingredients... but it's passable. Service... it's Hollywood. You know what to expect.

Il Cono Baby Yogurt vs Pinkberry on Huntley

You have just had the quintessential first Pinkberry experience. That's not to say that you should try it again if you weren't into it. But of the many Pinkberry addicts I know (including me), none of us liked it at all the first time. But now I crave it almost daily. So if you go back for seconds, know what you're getting yourself into! (BTW, Pinkberry yogurt is SO much healthier than all the processed, artificial flavor-laden "regular" frozen yogurt you find everywhere else. And the fresh fruit toppings are a healthy addition as well.)

Valentino, Chinois, La Boheme

Haven't been to Valentino or Chinois, but I can say that La Boheme is a little stuffy. Menu not breaking any new ground, and the crowd is a little older. But, the service is usually top-notch and the setting is pretty if you're okay with the previous disclaimers.

Melisse or Opus

Just to add another voice... Melisse has not gone downhill in the least. The tasting menus are all fantastic and well-executed. And the wine list is unmatched.

Sunday Brunch at Jar

I am also a fan of the Jar brunch. With a reservation, there's never a wait, and that's SUCH a nice change from every other brunch place in the area. (You can get a reservation on OpenTable 5 minutes before you leave... no need to reserve ahead.) But, to David's Q about crowding, I've tended to go in the 12:30/1 p.m. timeframe, and it is never close to empty then. But perhaps the brunch crowds aren't as loudly talkative... I've never found sound to be a problem for brunch.

Best real steak in the late hours?

Hi all --

Anybody know where one can find a great, *real* steak (something like an aged 30 oz. bone-in ribeye, or similar) in the post-10/11 p.m. timeframe? I know of a lot of steak and eggs options, and of the skirt steaks at Bossa Nova, but I'd love some *real* steak options. Doesn't have to be a steak house, in the strictest sense, but a cut that one would be happy to serve. Preferably Hollywood/Beverly Hills, but willing to travel for a good piece of meat.

Thanks!
