Franklin's Update
2$. I want my 2$. eat it and weep people. Its just damn good and that $2 should go to making a nice comfy home for the owners who f'ing nailed it with what they provide the public. i went opening day. the first people in line showed up at 10 pm the night before and drank 4 lokos. the next group were 7 am arrivals. next 8 am. its just fun to see people revere food this much. it was also fun to collect the 4+ pounds of leftovers from the table of drunkards I attended the opening with. Noshed dor 3 straight days at home on them goods and then took the rest to a dinner party. Won that one. We got there at 10 20 and started eating at 12 30. It was BYOB then but i hear they have awesome local taps now. If i had one eish, just one little wish, please, please Mr and Mrs Franklin; please make your own whole pickles. The idea of having a nice, fat, crsip dill pickle to help digestt that fatty cue would make a world of difference come nap time. I'm serious. It would be like those macrobitoic meals the health nuts talk about . I think something pickled really helps with digestion. Guess that slaw on the tipsy texan works well for that. going back asap no matter .
Gordon's Bringing Kitchen Nightmares To Austin: Here's Who Needs His Help
Treehouse or Phara's are both great candidates. How about Snack Bar?
Tripping Berry [moved from Austin board]
Has anyone out there heard of the "tripping berry" or "miracle fruit"? I read that it changes your taste buds, and that the Daily Juice Cafe is having a tasting party tonight where you can get the berries, but I don't want to pay 20 bucks if you really can't tell the difference. Anyone tried one?
Best summer cocktail
Where is anyone's best recommendation to take a date for a really special cocktail?
Falafel
Marakesh on 9thandCongress is awesome, fresh falafel. unique and good-Tom'sTabooley on Guad and 29th.
Saving room for dinner
Can anybody recommend a place for lunch that I won't feel guilty about on my diet? I guess really good salads or super smoothies are what I'm thinking of, something light so dinner can be anything at all. I do delivery so I'm all over the city and just looking for good spots. thanks
Phara's on North Loop / old Ararat location
Ouch! my good friends went to the grand opening of Phara's. Before I say anything, love to know anyone else's thoughts who has been. Christophers is the name on the menu (Phara's and Christophers) so maybe the new place next door will be like what Enoteca is to Vespaio.
Best Ceviche in Austin?
not traditonal by any means, but can we leave "uchiviche" at uchi off this list. it has been on their menu from day one and i personally order it first every time i go there.
New Restaurant Jezebel in Austin?
jezebel used to do lunch, blue cheese and soft shell crab po boy! and it used to be byob so budgets could be met for dinner. now times have changed, no lunch, full wine menu, but still it is in my opinion one of the top three tastiest, styliest, and unpretentious restaurants in austin, along with uchi and vespaio.
Best Oyster Po' Boy in Austin?
cypress grill on william cannon and mopac has a great oyster po boy. ask them where they get the bread delivered from and it be no surprise why its good. by the way, when in new orleans, Domilse is the best!
