There is a sign at the harbormaster's office showing which boats are selling seafood. Each dock will also have a sign, and some of the boats will have huge banners so they are hard to miss. The fish are gutted and gilled, but you buy the fish whole and must fillet it yourself. Make sure you bring a large cooler with ice (preferably one with wheels). Best times are weekends when most boats participate but call the number to verify if the boats are selling on that day: 650-726-8724, hit 3 for the fish sales hotline. |

1. The Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino ice cream is really good. Very addictive. 2. SSF also had a sale on strawberries (16 oz for 99 cents) 3. The SSF wine selection was lackluster 2 days ago. Nothing new or attractive. 4. 10 lb bags of russet potatoes for $1.99 |

Buying abalone direct from divers Actually, it's in Davenport but close enough. It's quite an operation they have down there. |

La Tur - $13.49/lb Andronico's SF! As of 1pm 3/28, they had only a few pieces left at the SF location. |

Coming Soon! New Grocery Outlet in Richmond The last news report I saw was a Fall 2013 opening for the SF location, but having driven by it several times, they haven't even started doing anything to it yet. |

R99 in DC had a good supply of crab for $4.99/lb. |
|

I bought a bottle of the Carmagnola marinara sauce in the SSF store. Never had it before but will give it a try since I don't like Ragu or Prego. GO usually doesn't carry imported Italian marinara sauce. |

Live Crab Prices-What's the latest? R99 in Daly City just received a crateload of crabs around 2pm Monday. All lively. The guy unloading them couldn't fit them all in. |

I stopped by this week and had the chicken "sando" and I was also impressed with the flavoring. The side salad was light and tasty with the sesame seeds. The portion wasn't huge but it was more than filling. My friend also enjoyed his sando. Tried the kim chi fried rice also and it wasn't bad, but it was a bit bland considering how many ingredients were in it. The hard cider was also worth mentioning since it looked like it had Soju in it. Good on a cold day. |

"I just bought some from AC Fishing, $8/crab, in Emeryville." He reported that the crabbers are on strike again today since the wholesalers dropped the price from $3 to $2 per pound. |

The hotline (Saturday 11/17) at Pillar Pt Harbor said the boats are in and selling live crab. No mention of price. |

Grocery Outlet To Open On Geary@28th Avenue!?! Here's the article in the SF Chronicle: |

I had some at Thanh Long last night and they were quite good, if expensive @ $39 each, but with firm meat and good texture. I wasn't paying, so I'm not complaining. |

Local Chinook Salmon in San Francisco (for the 2012 season)? Pillar Pt still has boats selling King Salmon from the boats. Don't know the price per pound currently, although it was $10/lb when the season started. Albacore tuna is also available off the boats. |

Spicy Empire, also in San Mateo, is good too. Apparently, it is a sister restaurant to Pot Sticker in SF. Another note: A new place called Yi Yuan Szechuan Restaurant just opened this month in Millbrae on El Camino Real, a block north of Asian Pearl. The space was previously occupied by Happy Chef, a Korean/Chinese restaurant. |

Where to go for lunch in Dogpatch neighborhood? I am meeting a friend for lunch in the area near the new UCSF / Mission Bay construction. I've been to Hard Knox Cafe and The New Spot. Any other casual inexpensive places worth visiting? |

I bought a bottle of the Brutocao Cabernet but haven't opened it yet. Saw the Ciao Bella Coconut Sorbet but opted for the Haagen Daaz pints of Peach frozen yogurt and the FIVE strawberry ice cream (also $1.99). Let me know how the Ciao Bella tastes. |

Lotus of Siam too busy? Check out Weera Thai! Had a really good dinner last month. Was not crowded compared to LOS. Wanted to try the Issan specials. Had the following: Sua Rong Hai (BBQ Beef)……….Marinated charbroiled beef served with Weera's spicy tamarind sauce. Green Curry chicken……….Traditional Thai green curry with coconut milk, eggplant & basil, with choice of meat. Ped Nom Tok ……….Sliced boneless roasted duck with chili paste, herbs, spices & lime juice. Shrimp Glass Noodle Pot.........Shrimp, black pepper & ginger baked with glass noodle in hot pot. If you have a craving for Thai food and cannot get a table at LOS, Weera is an excellent alternative. |

Paloma has some excellent Merlot and is near Pride: |

It was a temporary all-indoor 2-level structure on the upper parking lot (btwn the driving range and the first hole) . It was the same menu as the outdoor general public concession stands run by the USGA, but w/ the supposed OC burger. |

I was at the tournament yesterday and sadly, the usual food stand btwn at the 10th tee is not open during the US Open. The USGA is handling all food concessions. I had the Olympic Club Hospitality ticket which allows access to one place where they have it on the menu (snack pavilion located across from the driving range, as mentioned above). However, the SF Chron reported that it is a copy and not like the original, and nor does it taste as good. |

Indian/Pakistani food in the Tenderloin? I prefer Chutney (across the street from Shalimar on Jones St): The food at Shalimar is good, but the place doesn't look as clean as Chutney, and it's so smoky inside of Shalimar. |

Where can I buy affordable fresh local fish? The Costco near SFO had fresh wild Copper River salmon today; whole minus the head for $5.99/lb and fillets for $13.99/lb. Today was the first day for the whole fish stand along with the jumbo Tiger prawns from Vietnam. Bought a couple of whole salmon and each weighed ~6.5 lbs. |

Local Chinook Salmon in San Francisco (for the 2012 season)? They've been feeding on krill which also gives them a brighter-than-usual red color. |

Local Chinook Salmon in San Francisco (for the 2012 season)? Off the boats at Pillar Point Harbor. |

Where can I buy affordable fresh local fish? The Pillar Pt Harbor hotline mentioned salmon being sold off the boats on Saturday 5/5. Don't know the prices though. |

I'm not much of a cheese afficionado, but I really enjoyed them at GD and would recommend that as one of your choices. They have a nice selection served table-side. |

I went there earlier this week (after the grand opening). The store does feel more cramped due to space. I checked out the wine section and the selection was much different from what I saw at Berkeley & Oakland. There were a couple of wines that were sold in the other stores like the Deep Sea Chardonnay and the Bixler Red Wine. Most of the wines here were in the $5.99 and up range with very few $2.99 - $3.99. Bought a 2006 EOS Port (375ml) and a 2007 Sumac Ridge Chardonnay from British Columbia, both were $5.99 each. Other non-wines deals: 5 lb bag of red potatoes for $1.50 |

now that Oakland's B- Restaurant is closed... [REALLY] How about SF for the $1 oysters? |
