Interesting foreign cooking shows??

Does anybody remember a cooking show - I think it was on PBS. The camera focused on the food, not the chef. The chef was speaking french and there was narration in english. You could hear the ventilation fan in the background. It was really informative. Great techniques. Can't remember the show's title. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Help! It's driving me nuts! Thanks...

Help with cooking salmon

I would poach it and serve with a beurre blanc. It's exquisite.

Breakfast near Dekalb Peachtree Airport

What did you think of Panahar. I really like it. The atmosphere is a bit odd, but the food is really interesting and tasty.

Best pho in Atlanta

Pho Bat on Buford Hwy is excellent. (Near the intersection of Clairmont and Buford) Check out Lee's bakery too - their ban mi is to die for.

Gas Versus Charcoal

Nothing beats the flavor of lump charcoal. I use a Big Green Egg. It doesn't take long to light - 20 mins or so. You can take that time to soak the wood chips. It's an investment up front, but think of how many metal grills rust out and need replacement. My BGE has been going solid for 7 years. It's a beast!

Butcher in Marietta GA area?

I've heard good things about Grillers Pride. They do kosher meats and they deliver. www.grillerspride.com/

I have a friend who uses them exclusively and he says they're incredible. I've yet to try them.

suggestions for dinner in atlanta?

If you can get to Inman Park, try Shaun's. They have pomme frites that they fry in duck fat and a hanger steak to die for. If you're MARTA bound, I suggest getting the train to Decatur as potterybliss suggested. Try Cafe Alsace, Taqueria del Sol, Sushi Avenue, or Cafe' Lily. There's something for everyone in Decatur! Good luck

Il Cortile Del Re, anyone?

We were able to make same-day reservations, which I found impressive. The service was sketchy though. We had a server who was spaced out and spazzy - not a very good combination. We waited awhile for our food. I had the wild boar which was great but my wife received a dish she didn't order. Since she was ready to eat her hand at that point, she accepted it anyway. I have to admit that the food was tasty, but I think the place needs some polish on its customer service.
