Your Go-To Faves in Bloor West Village

Welcome to the hood, I live in the same area.

There is Sushi & Thai (Bloor/Durie, besides Villa) with great lunch specials.
Coffee Tree (Bloor/Jane) www.coffeetree.ca ... you can smell the coffee beans roasting from the street, and both front & back patios are open.
Red Bean Espresso (High Park) also has great coffee and gelato
Anna's Bakery (Bloor/Armandale) for all your bakery needs
Of course, you're a 5min walk from the Cheese Boutique, and the ice cream truck is stationed on the Lakeshore too!

Lunch Options: Markham & Sheppard area

@TorontoTips
Awesome! Babu, Silver Spoon, The Real McCoy, Joey Bravo soundn like great options. Thanks!

Lunch Options: Markham & Sheppard area

Working (new job) in the area and looking for reasonably priced lunch options in the area?

i) $10 range
ii) Close by, hopefully within walking range
(I don't feel like driving too far, say to Steeles, etc)

Thanks in advance.

Shakey's Bloor West

Good to know -- I walk by there all the time, pass the smokers on the sidewalk :(
I'll have to give the burger a try next time I'm hankering for a beer+burger.

lunch spots in parkdale?

Easy & Poor Johns are probably a little far for from Dufferin.

There is Stampede Burger (I think they have a Veggie Burger), The Mascot, The Drake, Ravi Soup and a bunch near east side of Dufferin

Wi-Fi Cafes in Mississauga ...

Thanks!

Wi-Fi Cafes in Mississauga ...

Just wondering aside from Starbucks & Second Cup (and McD), are there any other indy cafes in Mississauga with wi-fi?

Thanks

I've been to Coffee Culture and iCoffee so far.

GTA Gelato Wars 2012

Red Bean Espresso (High Park/Bloor)

They've been carrying Gelato since last summer.

Organic Big Burger - Brown's Line, anyone heard of it? On a daily deal site today...

Correction, I think they call themselves 'OBQ' now

Organic Big Burger - Brown's Line, anyone heard of it? On a daily deal site today...

If I recall on the chalkboard inside, it may stand for: Organic Ground Beef

Organic Big Burger - Brown's Line, anyone heard of it? On a daily deal site today...

Idontknow .... It's a ghost pop-up???? And I was eating ectoplasm this afternoon?

It's right besides the Pizza Pizza, right?
I assume they just did a name change to "OGB"

Organic Big Burger - Brown's Line, anyone heard of it? On a daily deal site today...

Dropped by today.
Ordered the Texan burger combo. Pretty good, beef tasted great, fresh cut fries were awesome.

I think they are calling themselves "OGB" now

Shawarma at LEZZET (in Mississauga)

In the area, and felt like a shawarma, not a fan of Paramount, and noticed a place located in a plaza (where the Tim Hortons is) on Dixie between Rathburn and Burnamthorpe. Very nice interior, Mediterranean-like.

Ordered a chicken shawarma with everything in it, plus hot sauce.
Was very impressed. Veggies tasted really fresh. Chicken was moist and flavourful.
And the kicker ... there was some pasta in the shawarma, weird, but it all worked together.

Next time I'm in the area, planning to check out their Persian Kebab, which they claim is the 'Best in Town"

LF Coffee shop in Etobicoke

There a a couple of options for BWV: Coffee Tree and Red Bean Espresso

N44 - Huge rating downgrade!!

"...schmoozing with middle aged, cake-faced, married Russian women looking for some fresh meat at Pravda?"

Thank you for the intel! ;)

N44 - Huge rating downgrade!!

Vanity in Toronto? Hmmmm.

People lining up for the hottest item or place. Name-dropping. The "it" place to be seen and heard. Frenzy.

Nope, not in TO.

N44 - Huge rating downgrade!!

It's vanity, plain & simple.

Customers are blinded by the 'name' and decor
(food has nothing to do with it)

N44 - Huge rating downgrade!!

Haven't been there in over a decade. There are way better options in the city.
It is just curiousity, poor taste or vanity that brings people to N44 these days.

Timothy's Coffee issues

Playing devil's advocate a little, it IS a date square. But, obviously, it is more of a supplier issue than the cafe's.
Who knows, it could've been your tone of voice or "choice of words".

Consider the poor quality a Timothy's offer and the clientele in the area, I'm sure the manager is immune to all the complainers (no excuse, of course).

Where can I buy coffee beans from Costa Rica?

Coffee Tree (Bloor West Village)
They have mail-order too.

Bosna Burek & Cevap...any thoughts?

That's too bad.
For cevaps nearby there is also Royal Meats (Kipling & Queensway area) and another place, Mrakovic Meat &Deli, (I believe) it's around the Renforth & Eringate

Rally Sports Bar + Smokehouse - O'Connor/VIc Park area

I'm planning on checking it out in the next couple of weeks for an event.

I assume it is your standard sports pub.
I wouldn't expect an above-average gastro-pub (with a twist)

Best Thai Restos in Toronto...

Sushi & Thai (Bloor West Village)

Great lunch specials (under $10), had the Pad Thai (came with a soup).
Planning to check out some of the other specials next visit.

British food store?

Isn't there a place on Front Street near St Lawrence market?

Jane Update?

Yes, there is a cafe south of Annette on Jane.
Great cubano sandwich!

You have $10 for a meal, where do you go in Toronto?

Bob's Bulgogi -- 105 Victoria St (at Richmond)

beef bulgogi, w/ miso soup & kimichi

Mangosteen's on Queensway

I'm planning on checking it out.
Sounds like it's across from the Plaza (Sobey, RBC, Swiss Chalet), besides the pet & mattress store.

Piola Toronto - Queen W. - Now Open

Does anyone know where they source their ingredients (e.g. the sauces, pastas, flour, meats, etc. from italy)?

Coffee of the Month Clubs? (in Canada - moved from Ontario board)

The Coffee Tree (Bloor West Village) has a Coffee Club, with durations of 3, 6, 12-mths (brewed & espresso), see link:

Amber European Restaurant - BWV

So, based on past posts -- the item(s) that merit ordering are the perogies only?
