Angeleno coming to Boston - What can't I miss?

To elaborate, I want a local's experience, although, Neptune Oysters seems great. Italian in the North End, perhaps.

Angeleno coming to Boston - What can't I miss?

I'm willing to spend money but as a bartender, I can't go too crazy.

Angeleno coming to Boston - What can't I miss?

I'll be in Boston from July 20th until the 24th. It's my first time and I would love to know what I can't miss. Thank you in advance.

Bulan, Vegan House 2, Doomie's Home Cookin' or Truly: A Vegan Restaurant?

I'll be in Hollywood tomorrow looking to satisfy my vegetarian needs prior to hitting the Arclight, could anyone recommend which one of these places is best for lunch? Thank you in advance.

Saturday Night

I have my first Saturday night off since I don't know when. There are five of us having dinner, one is a vegan. Money isn't so much an issue but don't want to go off the rails. I'm thinking Itzik Hagadol, the 20 salads are my favorite, or Jitlada, fear it might be too spicy. We love all kinds of food. I especially love Asian. Please tell me your suggestions for some place on a Saturday night, alas, not Animal. Thank you in advance.

Best Milkshakes in Santa Monica

Black and White shake at Swingers. It tickles my mouth unlike any other food or beverage.

Baja Bud's - Carnitas

I'm a big fan of the carnitas at Baja Bud's on the 3rd Street Promenade. They're the best I've had in Santa Monica. Does anyone agree?

Domed Plate Covers

Does anyone know of any restaurants in Los Angeles that use domed plate covers prior to service? Or is this something from the past? Does it exist in other cities if not here? Thank you in advance.

Best Breakfast in LA?

Nate n' Al's - Eggs and Onions, Hash Browns, Onion Bagel Toasted, Side of Nova, perfection.

Best Westside Sandwich/Deli

Nate n' Al's - The Hollywood - Corned Beef with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing. Order it extra juicy.

Best Philly cheesesteak and gyro?

I like the Gyros at Stop in Cafe on the Promenade. It's a little pricey but reasonable at lunch.

Great Salads

I know this will seem crazy but Barney's Beanery. The vegetable salad chopped is one of the best salads around. I've only had it in Santa Monica. And make sure it is chopped, because it's not nearly as good when it's not.

burritos like the mission in SF?

The only place I've seen in Los Angeles that is modeled after the taquerias of San Francisco, in regards to the assembly line, is Chipotle, which I'm not a fan. That said, the best burrito I've found on the Westside is at Taco Plus on Bundy and Ohio. Their burrito gigante has the best of combination of ingredients. Best of luck.

Middle Easter & Greek In Brentwood/Santa Monica

Sham on Santa Monica between 7th and Lincoln, but Sunnin is the best on Westwood next to Santa Monica.

Best Burrito near Lincoln and Venice

Actually, Casablanca has a very good burrito right where your standing. They make their own tortillas which are a bonus. I don't believe I'd eat anything else there.

Best Nachos?

Don Antonio's and Marix get my vote.

Kaya Sushi - Marina Del Rey

I highly recommend it for lunch. They have a great box lunch with spicy pork. Go now...or during the day.

Richard Palmer's (sp?) Pizza (or Pizzeria)

Just drove by a new spot in Santa Monica opening up on Ocean just North of Santa Monica. I googled it and it mentioned that Richard Palmer is married to Cathy Moriarity of Mulberry Street (and film) fame. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this? Thank you in advance.

Best Nachos on the West Side

I'm a big fan of Marix and Don Antonios. Both are massive the last is a meal for two.

Tuna Fish Sandwich

a friend of mine raves about the tuna melt at the Parlor in Santa Monica on Wilshire near 15th.

Fresh Corn Grill on Westwood near Ohio

Next door to the Coffee, Bean and Tea Leaf. Had an amazing salad tonight. The place is amazing. Super fresh and delicious. If you want to eat healthy food that's really tasty, go to Fresh Corn Grill.

Joe's of Bleecker Street - Unbelievable

Just had a couple (four) slices down at Joe's. I had cheese, pepperoni, sicilian, and sausage. They were all superb. The thin crust pizza tasted just like it does in Manhattan. The Sicilian was great, too, though I'm not a huge fan of the thicker crust.

For those who don't know, Joe's in on Broadway between Ocean and 2nd in Santa Monica. The hours are Sunday through Thursday 10 til Midnight and Friday and Saturday 10 til 3 ayem. I don't know if they'll be open til 3 tonight but should be next weekend. Run, don't walk.

Good value sushi west LA?

I second Echigo, but it can get expensive. I'm also a big fan of Nagao. They have the best albacore, amazing spider rolls, and I highly recommend a spicy scallop or spicy tuna handroll (or cut) in soybean paper. If you're looking for something cheap that is pretty good. Try Daichen Kaiten on Sawtelle and Olympic in the Olympic Collection second floor. It's a conveyor belt but you can order and the ono and salmon are really good for two bucks an order.

Daichan-Kaiten Sushi

The chefs ask what I want but I want to wait for the conveyor belt. It's the most fun I've had at a restaurant in a long time. I love tracking something coming my way and someone else gets it. It's good times.

Daichan-Kaiten Sushi

Ate at this conveyor belt sushi at Olympic and Sawtelle tonight. Mind you I'm a sushi snob but since I work for tips, I'm always looking for a good value, and this place is it. The sushi is by no means great, but it is pretty good. The plates are $2, $3.50, and $4.50. Some of the high points are the ono sushi, salmon sushi, and albacore sushi, none of them great, but for two bucks, it's far superior to a supermarket. Another two dollar find are the tango balls which are three deep fried tempura balls with crab and another fish I don't remember. Don't expect the world from this place, but for the price, it is worth a shot.

what's the difference between Pavillions and Vons?

I believe there used to be a difference. Pavillions was more upscale, at least in Santa Monica. Since they've been redone out here, they look very similar, but far more people use food stamps at Vons.

Fuddruckers

I ate at the Century City branch today and I was impressed. I had the 1/2 pound burger with bacon, cheese and grilled onions. I'm not a fan of putting my own toppings on, but aside from that I highly recommend it.

HELP! Lunch recs needed near Wilshire & Westwood Blvd

Sunnin on Westwood just north of Santa Monica on the west side of the street. Amazing Fatoush!

Any GREAT chinese on the west side??

I'm a big fan of Hu's Szechuan In Palms. Also, the Golden Bowl next to Real Food Daily on Santa Monica is alright.
