Dinner with small kids Pitts.

Benihana on Greentree Road is a really fun place to take kids - dinner and a show! It is pretty easy to get to from where you are.

Heinz Field/Pgh Easter Brunch

Has anyone been to Heinz Field for Easter Brunch? We are looking for a place for about 12 people and a few children. The last place we went for Easter Brunch (not my choice) involved filling styrofoam cups with picked-over omelet fillings and standing in line watching the omlet guy rub his hands thru his hair... If not Heinz Field any other suggestions? Thank so much!

Cooking classes in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania?

I have attended many classes at Rainia's in Mt. Lebanon. She should have a winter/spring schedule coming out soon - you can sign up for her mailing list. I have really enjoyed her classes, she always provides copies of all recipes, and there is usually wine while she is cooking! I have only attended the classes where she is cooking - but she has several guest chefs. The typical set up is you sit in her cooking studio and watch her cook - sometimes participants assist. When she is done you eat buffet style in the adjoining room which is a small cafe. I have always felt it is a good value for the money and she is very entertaining. My only complaint is that she packs too many people into a small space. The classes usually sell out. Usually 40 people jammed into a small space on folding chairs that are so close the chairs are touching - and you sit the whole time while she cooks. That said - I'd would still attend more classes.

Thanksgiving, large group, downtown Pittsburgh

I have spent many holidays on the Pittsburgh holiday buffet/non-buffet circuit. Not by choice! We had Christmas dinner last year at the Terrace Room in the Omni William Penn hotel. The room is very large and I think they could corner off an area. There is also a large lobby area with seating which was nice for children and people that want to get up for a while. They had a special Christmas menu and the food was the best we ever had on a holiday at a restaurant. I don't have time to check but I bet they are open on Thanksgiving. I do remember it being expensive but not sure exact price. A lot of people also like the Grand Concourse - I don't. We have had large areas reserved for holidays. It is a buffet. I think it is way too crowded, too many kids walking up to the buffet unattended and picking food off.... If we had to do another holiday out we'd go to the Terrace Room.

Great Lunch Spot Near CMU for 30 ppl

Phipps Conservatory has a very nice cafe - maybe you can reserve space? I believe they also have some small event rooms in the new section. There is also the cafe across the street from Phipps - I think it is called Schenley Cafe. I haven't been there but heard it is a good lunch spot. I have no idea what type of event they can accomodate. I walk from CMU to Craig Street often - there are several good restaurants on Craig Street. Maybe the Carnegie Museum has space in their cafeteria - I haven't been there in a long time...

Classroom Restaurant - Pittsburgh

Panni Guy - thank you for another great recommendation. We went to Bado's Cucina tonight and had a wonderful meal. They do not take reservations - we waited about 40 mintutes for an indoor table. But - they immedietly seated us at an outside table (not the best view - parking lot and Rt. 19) and we enjoyed our wine (BYOB). They kept checking on us and providing updates. We were then seated inside. We had a tuscan bread/olive/cheese plate, fire-grilled artichokes, mussels and for desert fresh grilled peaches stuffed with gorgonzola and served on top of proccutio. I never would have expected this in Peters Township! Thank you so much for this recommendation.

Good food in Pittsburgh's South Hills?

Luma on Castle Shannon blvd. is a great idea. We have been there twice. Excellent service and same great food as the Aspinwall location. They also have a nice outdoor/casual deck area in the back.

Good food in Pittsburgh's South Hills?

I haven't been to Franco's on West Liberty Avenue since Joe Tambellini (the chef) left - but when he was there it was always good Italian. If you all live in the East End you can do the South Side on your way home. There are also supposed to be some new restaruants near the Brentwood Town Center area but I do not have any details.

Dim-Sum Pittsburgh or Cleveland

Hi - I am looking for dim-sum in Pittsburgh. No luck so far. Something like NYC China town or Philadelphia or San Francisco. I don't think I am going to find anything in Pittsburgh. I remember hearing that some people from Pittsburgh go to Cleveland for dim-sum. Can anyone recommend a place - worth the drive?
Thank you very much in advance.

Group celebration in Pittsburgh?

I had a group dinner (9 people) at Tusca - the new tapas restaurant on the South Side (near the Joseph-Beth bookstore) and it was very nice. They have tapas and entrees on the menu. Lot of tapas selections - everything was delicious. They also have a great wine list with 30 bottles for 30$. Here is a link http://www.tuscapgh.com/
Oh - they also have valet parking 4$
