Best place for Mother's Day brunch (buffet) @hungryabbey - Eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, home fries, french toast, pasta, cold salads, butter chicken/rice, beef and peameal bacon, fresh fruit, cheese, omelet station, smoked salmon, pastries, chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake, creme brulee, tarts, other pastries, etc. We liked the brunch, but we didn't try everything. If you call, they'll give you a list, as I believe they change it up each weekend. |

Best place for Mother's Day brunch (buffet) @Full tummy - have you tried Hot House Cafe? Same price, but doesn't include tea or coffee. We go there quite often, more casual than Archeo, with a lot of options. The food is hit/miss, desserts are from Baker Street Desserts (I think), but the waffles are great (malt waffles). |

Best place for Mother's Day brunch (buffet) Hi Full tummy - we went to Archeo today; thank you for the suggestion. I took over 50 pics but haven't had the time to go through them. I wanted to post that we had a very nice brunch experience. The place is gorgeous (smaller than Boiler House, but very sunny, open concept, exposed brick, etc, just like the website). Most of the food was hot (we got there at 10:30 am). You can't beat the price ($18.95, which includes tea/coffee) and the best part .... the desserts, imo, better than XXX hotel if you know what I mean, and I know that's saying a lot, but again, just my opinion). We really liked the crème brûlée, chocolate cake, chocolate mousse and fresh individual tarts, which are all made in-house. The croissants were quite good and I didn't detect shortening ... I did speak to the pastry chef to tell him how delicious the items were. I think you'll have a great Mother's Day buffet because there will be additional items (including my favorite … macarons)! The servers were all very attentive and friendly. We normally go to Hot House Cafe, but this was a very nice change. Have a wonderful brunch. |

Mother's Day BRUNCH (list of places) We've had the Sunday brunch at King Edward 3 times. The pastries seemed to be made with a lot of shortening and were dry. Some of the food items were warm as well, and we had the first seating. The seafood choices were disappointing; water logged and rubbery. The Beef Wellington was rare. Personally, I think it should have been medium, not bloody red. The last visit was with friends who really wanted to try it out, else we wouldn't have returned. |

where is the best fish and chips in Toronto/GTA?? @ItsRainingMian - how much were the fish and chips? Are the fries fresh cut? Thanks |

where is the best fish and chips in Toronto/GTA?? Hi Kiki - Hamish's has been mentioned twice so far in this post. I know you mentioned it's a hidden gem, but is it a relatively clean place, or are we talking a Diners, Drive ins and "Dive" type of place (no offense)? Thanks |

Mother's Day BRUNCH (list of places) I have to agree with justsayin (imo as well). It was not one of the best brunches we've been too, save your money. |

Maritime Lobster in Scarborough? Has anyone been to this place for lobsters, shrimp, scallops, cod, etc? I like to buy fresh seafood from St. Lawrence Market (or Diana's Seafood), but it's not always convenient for me to travel downtown (for SLM). |

I've been to Casa Victoria before, it's very nice, but I'm not looking for Chinese cuisine. Tried to edit my post to say no Chinese or French food, but I wasn't able to. Thanks for your reply though. |

Ugh, scratch Miller and Terra off my list. I've been to Octagon once, but it was about 10 yrs or more. Thanks! |

Would like suggestions for fine dining, steak, Italian or seafood uptown (Markham, Richmond Hill preferred, or North York). Anything but French food. We'll be in the area of Warden/7 on a week night, so we don't want to drive downtown. I'd rather something with a nice ambience rather than old school (such as Octagon or David Duncan House) and we'll be bringing our appetites! I've come up with these so far.... The School of Fine Dining Thanks in advance! |

Restaurant near Wellington/Blue Jays Way for dinner Hi peppermint pate ~ we chose Tutti Matti since it was the closest (within walking distance) after being on our feet for 14 hours. So disappointed we didn't make it there as we ended up working way too late, but it's on my radar for next time. Thanks for the great suggestions! |

Restaurant near Wellington/Blue Jays Way for dinner Would like to have dinner with a colleague within walking distance of Wellington/Blue Jays Way in downtown Toronto. Any suggestions? Open to Italian, Steak, Mexican, and Seafood. Would prefer larger portions than some fine dining places offer. Budget is $75 max (tax/tip) per person, no alcohol. Fred's Not Here? Kit Kat? Thanks! |

Wow, thanks for the link! Who knew?? |

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely sign up. I was searching for Callebaut and found a huge price difference in a store at St. Lawrence Market. The price was so low, compared to Callebaut's website, so I emailed the store in Oakville and they said the product is not theirs! Bernard Callebaut (the real one), and Barry Callebaut - see below. |

Hi always_eating, does the Lindt bar say couverture? Could you tell me what it looks like, or the color of the wrapper? Thanks |
|
|
HI Kagemusha, I was just on the Lindt.ca website, I only saw white wrappers (Excellence) dark blue or gold (Swiss Classic). I didn't see any with silver wrap? |
|

I know this post is a few years old but I tried to buy Scharffen Berger chocolate before, I even contacted them, and was they don't sell to Canada. Has anyone found a place in Toronto that sells it? For the Lindt chocolate (factory store, etc). Do they sell baking chocolate bars, or is it just the regular chocolate bars that they sell in stores? (I personally use PC Bittersweet for all my baking and on occasion, will splurge and use Valrhona or Callebaut). |

Where can I buy couverture chocolate in Toronto? Hi LexiFirefly - I use the PC Bittersweet chocolate bar for all my baking too, have been for years. It works great. For a real splurge, I would use Valrhona or Callebaut, but for everyday use, the PC bar at 3.99 is a steal. |

Has anyone been to this place? If so, what would you recommend, and how are their prices (pastries, cakes, etc). http://www.chocolada.com/about.html TIA! |

Flavor compounds (for macaron shells) in GTA I think I will give it a try. Macarons are a PITA (pain in the ***) to make ... temperamental little things!! Thanks again Julia :) |

Flavor compounds (for macaron shells) in GTA Thanks Julia, I should have been more specific. I was looking for powdered compounds. Golda's is a great place; I buy most of my baking supplies from there. |
