Where are you getting your turkey from this year?
We've been getting our turkeys at Whole Foods for the past few years and probably will this year again. They've always turned out delicious and taste really fresh.
Do you carve your turkey in front of everyone in the dining room or just bring it out carved?
I'd be too nervous to carve it in front of anyone!
Coffee break: less crumbly "corn muffins"
The best corn muffins I've made are from the Southaven Farm cornbread baking mix. They're wheat free and 100% whole grain. The best part is that they taste great anyway!! I've made a few of the cornbread/corn muffin variations from the recipes on their website. Everyone loves them.

Martha Stewart turkey
I think most of what Martha sells you can find cheaper elsewhere.
Looking for a good Ebelskiver recipe and a good pan
I bought the pan from Williams-Sonoma but haven't used it yet. They always have cute ebelskiver recipes in their catalogues. I need to try one some time soon.
What is your favorite brand of espresso?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I too just got an espresso maker as a gift and haven't used it yet.
Online food
I agree about the marshmallows from www.sweetandsara.com. They are amazing. Also, for anyone who likes to bake and is into whole grains/healthy eating, I order the Southaven Farm baking mixes at www.southavenfarm.com. They are awesome and I especially like their cookie recipes.
looking for a white chicken chili recipes
Thanks for all the ideas. I've been wanting to try to make white chili.
recommednations for whole wheat pasta
I really like Heartland brand ww penne. It's very inexpensive and I get it at Supercenter Walmart. I find if you just barely overcook all whole grain pastas, the texture gets better.
Delicous AND low in Calories??
I'm a sweet freak and have to have my muffins and cake. I use the Southaven Farm baking mixes -- http://www.southavenfarm.com/index.php -- for muffins, pancakes, snack cakes, etc. They are low in calories and high in fiber. It keeps me out of the fattening stuff. They also have tons of recipes to keep things interesting.
Stuffed Portobellos
I mix together cooked brown rice with sauteed onions, garlic, tomatoes, zucchini, any other vegetables I have in the house. I bake until hot and the last few minutes, I top with goat or feta cheese. So good.
Mrs. Mays crunch mixes
Yikes, that's no fun. I like them and fortunately, haven't broken anything.
Leftover Chocolate Cupcakes
I love all these ideas. I don't do anything that creative. I just crumble them up in the bottom of a bowl and put the best ice cream of the day on top!
Where to Buy Cashew Butter?
If you get up to the LA area, Magee's at Farmer's Market (the Grove) has the best nut butters EVER. Their cashew butter is to die for. If you don't get to LA, they have a website and you can order it online. I do it all the time. Pricey but totally worth it.
Fage Yogurt Now Made in the USA
Oh please, just let is be the same wonderful Fage it has always been. Fingers are crossed.
Best products without High Fructose Corn syrup?
I love the Southaven Farm baking mixes to make muffins, quick breads and pancakes. All natural, no HFCS, you decide what to add to them (real sugar, honey, etc). You can see their stuff at www.southavenfarm.com. Also, all of Annie's Naturals have no HFCS and taste delicious. For great natural dried fruits and veggies, try www.justtomatoes.com. Natural nut butters are great too.
I was very surprised when I saw how many things have HFCS in them, especially when I noticed it in hummus! Good luck!!
Request for Vegan Rice Pudding Recipe
Thanks for the suggestions and awesome recipe. Can't wait to try.
Simple and, healthful breakfast suggestions. Please.
One of my favorite healthy, virtually fat-free breakfasts is scrambled egg whites with a whole grain muffin. I bake up a bunch of the Southaven Farms muffins -- www.southavenfarm.com -- and I always have a variety in my freezer. It's a great breakfast, good for you, and tastes delicious too. Add a piece of fruit and it's perfect.
Bought some huge Scallops, need cooking advice.
This recipe from Robin Miller on Food Network was really good for Bacon-Wrapped Scallots with Jalapeno-Mango Sauce:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35712,00.html
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves, plus 2 tablespoons
8 slices bacon
1 1/4 pounds sea scallops
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 ripe papaya, peeled, seeded and diced
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon minced jalapeno pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 cup prepared quinoa
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
Prepare one cup of quinoa according to package directions. When cooked, stir in 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro. Cover and set aside.
Halve bacon slices crosswise and wrap slices around 1 pound of the sea scallops. Secure with wooden picks, if necessary.
Heat oil in a large, oven-proof skillet over medium heat. Add all the scallops and cook 1 to 2 minutes per side, until golden brown. Place skillet in oven and bake 5 minutes, until scallops are cooked through (opaque).
While scallops are cooking, prepare papaya sauce. In a small bowl, combine diced papaya, 2 tablespoons cilantro, lime juice, jalapeno, and cumin. Season with salt and black pepper.
Remove 2 cooked scallops from the pan and reserve in refrigerator for another recipe Serve remaining scallops with quinoa and papaya sauce.
Chevre Pairings
These are fantastic ideas. I like chevre with whole grain crackers and red grapes.
PLEASE! A decent pancake mix?? [Moved from Home Cooking board]
I use the Southaven Farm baking mixes -- http://www.southavenfarm.com/products.php. You can only get them online but so totally worth it. I love them for muffins but the Ginger Spice and the Multi-grain mixes make awesome pancakes and waffles. Healthy and delicious, a pretty unusual combination for pancakes.
Whatever happened to the 'old fashioned hamburger'?
In the LA area, there's a place called TOPZ (not to be confused with Tops) and they have awesome "old fashioned" burgers. Even their buns are great. I think they are franchised and may have a few more around the country. If you can find one, they are great.
Favorite Peanut Butter Recipes?
These are all such great ideas. My mom just sent me a "tub" of Magee's pb from LA and I was wondering how I was going to use all of it. Now I know.
Whole wheat cookies... with vinegar??
This is all great info.
Buddernut, would you share your recipe? Please?
Addicted to garlic stuffed olives . . . the best ever
Their jalapeno stuffed olives are great also. My husband uses them in his "dirty" martinis.
Is my mother the only one who still makes homemade gefilte fish?
My aunt still makes it but none of us have picked up the banner. It's pretty messy and really does smell up the kitchen. Too bad, it's the best I've ever had. Maybe I'll give it a try again.
