Saturday lunch party in Brooklyn

My relatives are throwing my boyfriend and I a luncheon in celebration of our upcoming marriage. They are coming from out of town to host; we're looking for suggestions of places to dine. There will probably be about 20 guests and we're looking for a place in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill-ish area, Park Slope or DUMBO. Nothing too fancy, just good food and comfortable place to hang out for a couple of hours, maybe sip a bit of wine in the afternoon.

We thought of Bar Tabac because they have that back room/wine cask, but it gets kinda hot and crazy in there on the weekends. Other thoughts included Superfine (love the idea of strolling in that nabe or promenade before/after). Suggestions appreciated!

soft tacos?

although i haven't had the famous tacos of red hook, i am a big fan of the tacos at taqueria y fonda on amsterdam (between 106th and 107th or maybe 108th...). i haven't had them in a while, but i remember them being simple and great and two were cheaper than a beer.

tomorrow is my birthday and i want to go somewhere with great food and maybe even a little special for dinner with my boyfriend. we live right off smith street. we find ourselves eating at lunetta, bar tabac, robin. and ki all the time to give you a sense of my taste. anything new or especially good you can suggest would be great. (not necessarily expensive but a a pleasant place to eat great food and then walk home afterwards.) thanks!

Sushi on Smith Street

Thanks. I have been noticing a proliferation of new japanese places and I don't really get how they're all going to stay afloat. How much mediocre sushi can one neighborhood consume?

Any suggestions for japanese esp. sushi in Boerum/Cobble Hill? I really like Ki and recently checked out Hibino, which I also thought was fantastic. Am I missing out on anything?

Quick lunch with ladies

I am looking for a place to have a quick (well, about an hour) but pleasant sit-down lunch with my mom, grandmother and elderly aunt. I work at 57th and 5th. Table service isn't necessary, but we definitely need to be able to sit and eat. Buchon Bakery came to mind, but I've never been.

Suggestions appreciated!
