Kaffir lime leaves in northern DE or nearby?
If you can't find them locally try Importfoods.com. They have the real deal limes and the leaves (altho not all the time) as well as lots of other interesting Asain items . Caution - shipping adds to the price!
kennett square restaurants
If you like Italian you might want to try A Bite Of Italy in the Superfresh shopping center on Rt 1, also about 5 min from Longwood. Been a couple of times for dinner - good food, huge portions and about 17 - 22 for dinner. They have a lunch special at $10 that is a choice of two from soup, salad, sandwich, panini, etc.
Sausage filler machines
I've used the KA attachement for both grinding and stuffing and find it works just fine. Some folks feel the mixer itself is not powerfull enough but I've not had any problems. Depending on the texture you want, you might have to grind twice. The grinder costs about $40-45, it's the stuffing tubes that costs $10.
Still no decent coffeehouse in Kennett Square, PA
So if Kennett is such a crummy little place, why are you looking for a coffee house there? Just wondering???
Outer Banks of North Carolina
First place goes to Sugar Shack on the causeway from Nags Head. Also good are Colington Cafe on Colington Island and Red Sky in Duck (good for lunch, pricey for dinner). For the best doughnuts of your life go to Duck Doughnuts.
Fermented Hard Apple Cider
Today's Inquirer has a pretty good article on hard ciders including names of some local brewers as well as retail outlets. Worth looking at.
Bagels - Northern Delaware
Is this the one in the shopping center with Guanardi's and Floga? If so, I've always thought their product was sort of mediocre - about on par with supermarket quality.
Szechuan Restaurant- Wilmington, DE
Another strong agree on the not so good Crownery. Had the worst Peking duck of my life there - fat city and not so crisp skin. Our go to stop for Americanized Chinese/Thai is Ming Village in the shopping center at intersection of Rt 1 and 202. Well prepared and really fresh ingredients. BYO but theyll comp you a beer or house wine. Try the seaweed salad or spicey tofu as an app and the mango chicken for the main. Really worth a visit. Plus any place that greets me with a warm towel to refresh my fevered brow gets my vote.

SambosFantasticPlace!
So are all who have been to Le Bec-Fin pretentious phonies or just some of us?
Has Nonna Ristorante near Newark, DE closed?
Oops - must read these things more carefully. Bought a deal for Hill's Seafood only to find it was for the Exton location rather than Kennett. Well worth the ride though.
Has Nonna Ristorante near Newark, DE closed?
LivingSocial has a $20 for $40 deal for Nonna today so I hope the answer is "no".
Outer Banks Anyone?
That's the place!! Thanks for the tips fc; have not been to OBX in a few years and am much looking forward to seeing which of these are still there.
Outer Banks Anyone?
Need recs for Outer Banks north of Oregon inlet after Labor Day. Seafood preferred but any cuisine ok. Want to stay away from the usual tourist haunts. There used to be a really good place on (I think) Collington island but I've no clue as to the name. Anyone?
Mexican Restaurant in Kennet Sq, PA
El Tapatia. Have been a few times and think it's terrific. Good food, low prices, byob and friendly (if somewhat unskilled) service.
Diners in the Chester county/Lancaster county vicinty?
There's the Smoketown Diner on Philadelphia Pike near 896 in Smoketown. Never been so can't recommend it. Are you after a genuine rr car diner or just a place with a big menu?
West Chester, Pa
Good restaurants and children seldom are mentioned in the same sentence. You might want to try John's Hot Dogs (not sure that's the actual name but it's on 202, north of Rt 1 on the right hand side going north) or Ruby's Diner in the Brinton Lake mall on Rt 1 just north of the 202 intersection (they'll like the trains running around the ceiling).
Any local corn in yet?
Sorry - Inky is shorthand for the Phil Inquirer. maybe I spelled it wrong. Stopped at the Wilmington farmers market yesterday(Thursdays, 4-8, 10th & van buren) and got some gorgeous corn @ 6/$3. Delaware, picked yesterday.
Any local corn in yet?
No, I don't think so. They usually say "our own" when they've grown it themselves.
Any local corn in yet?
Pete's is selling local and has a coupon in today's Inky for six free ears with a $20 purchase.
Sambo's -- best place for crabs in Delaware
Been to Sambo's once. That says it all. On the other hand the slimy green drink sounds promising.
Good eats in Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia
I strike out on DC. Maybe others can help. Probably ought to put a new post on the DC board.
Good eats in Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia
You might want to try The Trellis located in the Old Town center. Used to be run by Marcel Desaulniers who" invented" the Death By Chocolate dessert item. I'm not sure I would call it great but it is very, very good with excellent service. Be sure to make a reservation and if you're into chocolate desserts reserve Death By in advance as well. Other than that, Pierce's Pit BBQ is supposed to be world class for ribs. For seafood, River Inn is about as good as you're going to get and I would rate it good but not higher. You can Google The Trellis and Pierce's. For whatever reason, good seafood is hard to come by in the area restaurants. Go figure.
Good eats in Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia
Of these, I'd go with River Inn. Pretty nice place with good but not exraordinary food. They also have a tiki bar if that suits you. Other than that there's pretty slim pickings in this area. You might want to drive over to Williamsburg in the hopes of finding something there.
Where to get quality Spanish olive oil?
Second on Trader Joe (surprisingly) and Nunez de Prado which, I believe, is available from Tienda.com. TJ-inexpensive, NdP-just the opposite but great stuff.
Good eats in Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia
That's a helluva big area. Maybe you can narrow it down some when you find out exactly where you'll be.
Cheap Wine that Doesn't Suck
Posters here seem to have trouble grasping that you can only buy in state stores in PA. Try anything from Lindemann. Not sure what they cost in PA but in Delaware they're about $5 per 750ml. (That may mean they come in at $15 in PA).
Soft Shell Crab Season
Quick, bluehen - where in Kennett or Wilmington!!! I've only seen them at the seafood market on 202 and would not feed them to my cows (if I had any cows).
Crabs in Delaware: Wiso's or Kathy's?
If you're talking about how to tell the dfference just turn the critter over on its back. If the apron area (the area you would normally tie an apron) looks like a triangle you've got a female - if it looks like the Wahington monument it's a male. Pretty obvious. Some folks think the females are sweeter but I can't tell the difference.
Blue crabs anywhere in the Wilmington, Delaware general area?
Or you might try Feby's Fishery which I believe has a Wilmington address but is close by Hockessin, and is a restaurant and fishmonger as well. But travelmad is correct - no local product yet but you might score some from Virginia if their weather has been better than ours. Suggest calling ahead.

It's been a few years since I've had TBC and it may have changed but my definite and lasting impression was that while the chard and cab were truly terrible, the sov blanc and merlot were not too bad as quaffers. At $3 (or whatever it is now) what can you lose by trying it once (besides the 3 bucks)?
