Is there any sugar, or other sweetener, in this cake?

Is there anyplace in the South Bay or North OC that sells grey corned beef? I'm a native New Englander and want to do St. Paddy's day old style.

In the 1960's my grandparents had an annual Christmas Party for us at the Lexington Motor Inn. The main dish was "Chicken Eugene". I've Googled this and found recipes using chicken breast, chipped beef , sour cream and cream of chicken soup. Others use ham instead of chipped beef. Does anybody remember the composition of the dish at the Lexington Motor Inn? There are a lot of nostalgic memories riding on this.

Yes, it was a yellow cake - I'm not sure about the meringue topping. Thanks I'm so glad that you remember it. Maybe I am mixing it up with the "wowie cake"

Does anyone have a recipe for this cake? It may be spelt Doheda I think it was in the Boston Globe Cookbook for Brides published in the 1960's. It was very simple to make - the wet ingredients were put into a measuring cup and then mixed with the dry ingredients (maybe in the cake pan?).

I've given up on my 1 year old Rival Crock Pot - everything dries out. Informal polls of friends and coworkers show they have the same results. Can someone recommend another brand slow cooker to purchase? I'm open to all price ranges.
