Is it possible to taint your taste buds?
I have heard that the zinc based nasal sprays can affect you sense of smell and thusly your sense of taste.
Is there such a thing as "beef bacon"?
Although it is more like "beef ham", dried beef is a tasty alternative. It is usually very lean but you can crisp it up in butter and get some of the salty, smokey, fatty satisfaction of bacon.
It is a staple and readily available here in PA and also very good when made with venison.
Re-heating frozen cornbread?
Make your own steamer,
Add a small amout of water to a covered casserole or an over-turned bowl on a plate
-nuke for 10 -30 secs, depending on amnt of water and your micro
-put c/b in dish or on plate nuke 20-30 secs more depending on portion and micro
you want the steam before adding c/b or yoit can get over done.
Ovens - How Many?
Check out the Kitchen Aid Superba line. I went with three piece stack, all individual units. A micro/conv on top, that has a quartz broiling element that you can use in combo with the m/w, over-priced but useful. In the middle is a conv. oven, once you start using the conv. feature you will appreciate it, and on the bottom a warming drawer. You won't use the w/d as much but it is nice for entertaining and smaller than having another oven.
