hi folks, the wife and i will be on a stopover monday July 4 th on our way to hawaii, we will spend the night around LAX, we will have a car and would love to have sushi for dinner ( traditional sushi-sashimi), please help us with some recs around 60-70 pp, we are willing to drive, we know being monday and being 4 th of july is going to be a bit challenging, hope you could help us!! First, thank you all for all your valuable responses, i really apprecciate and yes i was talking about sushi wasabi in tustin, what we think is equally important for the wife and I besides good fish ( which we love) is that our kids feel comfortable with the whole experience and begins to developed their own taste in this food and culture we love, we are from Mexico actually and dont get to experience very often at all this kind of sushi places as you folks in california have, so i believe kaito would suits us best and i would like you to help me with a few more questions;
1.- based on our intinerary kaito must be Thursday, sunday or monday, which you think is best day?
2.- Do we need a reservation?
3.- since we are with the kids and they dont eat as we adult do, we think we should sit at a table and not on the sushi bar, can we still order omakase from there?

hi folks we will be on vacation from april 21 to april 26 with 2 well behave kids ( 6 and 5) we are planning to go to legoland and driving to disney, my wife and I loves good sushi and would like to spent at least 1 good sushi meal with the kids and were wondering which would be the best for us in terms of child friendly atmosphere, we have not tried both before and knows that are kind of different but very good in their own way, so please help, or any other equal recomendation (in terms of fish) is welcome, Thanks!!

Hi chow friends, going for NYE to Disneyland and we are staying around the airport and would like to have at least 1 or 2 gorgeous sushi nights while my sister takes care of our children, we will have a car and dont mind to drive around for a good sushi place, we are avid sushi eaters, we prefer traditional sushi, if possible we would like to try a place with a fair variety of different fish and shellfish, and we definitely like to have omakase, we are thinking in the range of 50-60 usd pp excluding beer, tax and tip, do you think thats doable?we apprecciate your recs!!

Hi chow friends, we will be traveling to orange county for a disneyland vacation and we are looking for a good place to spend new years eve, please consider;

* a group of 6 adults (including grandpa and grandma) and 4 kids (2-2 yrs old and 2-4yrs old)
* staying around John Wayne airport and have a car but will prefer not to drive more than 15 miles around)
* Looking for a family-kids friendly restaurant with good food, we love seafood, californian, italian, even a chinese restaurant we think could be fun and delicious.

On the other side, we are considering if the restaurants appears to be packed with not so worth expensive menu´s and rushed service, to get some take out food and wine or beer and spend the evening at the hotel, if that seems a good idea for you guys we apprecciate some recs for it!!

Hi chow friends, i have been reading a lot of your excellent posts since we are visiting your city in october for a 3 day business trip, we are pretty much set with the places we will like to try this time (Zuni, Ame on top of the list) Since we are from Mexico and we really dont have the opportunity to eat this kinf of food that we love very often down here, we really appreciate your reccomendations on this one (good thai and indian) we are staying in the touristy fishermans wharf area, will not have a car but dont have a problem moving around ( though central SF would be best) dont have a problem also wether fancy and pricey or not so, we just want goood food, thanks!

I went to Louis Vin and Chez les anges last april and i could that both are excellent, chez les anges being more classy and on the pricey side but the food is very good, Louis vin is in the fifth and we really like their ambiance food and wine list, you should tri ay least one of these two, you will be pleased!

I second Louis Vins, was there on a sunday night and the food was excellent in a very parisian ambiance, menu was about 28e they also have a very good list of wines, very good place, i think they are in a bibb gourmand direction next year.

Going for the weekend, never been to, i would really apprecciate any recomendations on good food , wether is a street car vendor or fine dining, Thanks!!

thanks folks!, we are back and very very pleased and having tried so many new flavors and wines and culinary experiences that made this trip to Paris a very special one, everithing was excellent, the weather just fine, clear blue skies ( except a sunday afternoon with little chilling showers) the people very nice and willing to help and explain and the bistros and boulangeries just lovely, here are some of our notes;
we arrived thursday 26 in the afternoon and since we were staying in the 7th made a reservation for dinner at chez l`ami jean, they couldn`t get us until 10:15 but it was just fine, we arrived walking with a map in hand, pass by l´afriolle, the street seemed very quiet and what a wonderful susprise when we entered the place and saw paris life going on!! tha place was packed, full with cigarrete smoke, waiters running, everybody cheering and talking loud, we saw the whole picture in a nutshell and knew it was going to be great, we managed to sit in between tables and promptly had the menu, we decided to go with the menu and order right away, i must say that we speak little french but the waiter was very willing to translate in italian (the best he could do) ( we are from mexico so it was no problem undestanding) and we ordered.......soon it came entree.....wowww... my wife had squid and i had white asparagus and wow!! what can i say...it was very good bistro food...very good executed, flavorful, well presented, mine with a big bone marrow and bread...hers with a geleé with flavors that i admit we couldn´t figure it out what it was but very subtle and refined,,,,,we were happy!!!! and a bottle of chablis on the side, next came plat, we both ordered fish ( red mullet and seabass) both so different in flavors and equally well executed and flavorful that really, we were just looking each other eating with a smile on our faces and that´s it, life is good !! then dessert, my wife had a pear with chocolat and i, a kind of panacotta with madeleines on the side...mmm very yummy both, very good straight forward presented, we skip coffee and check came to 90 euros wich we consider it was worth every penny of it, really good, we were very pleased after dinner having made a very good choice, really,, and really go to l ´ami jean, is good food you will leave happy!!, had to go right now, but to be continue with the next days!!

in san jose del cabo go to "el mercado del mar" awesome seafood and not expensive at all, also zippers near acapulquito beach(surfers beach) is very good and cheap, i totally agree with todos santos beautiful little town very peaceful, if you happened to go to la Paz dont miss by any chance fish tacos at "hermanos gonzalez" and the best seafood cocktails at "cocteleria el bismarkcito" que cocteles que bruto de lo mejor de lo mejor..Cheers!

Once again thank you very much you guys for so good information, so far we have reservation to l`angle du faubourg for lunch and dinner at chez les anges, since we like very much fish and shellfish les fables de la fontaine and la cagouille will be at the very top of our list once in Paris, and thanks to your posts we are very interested in triyng new restos for us such as spring and le pre verre, we cant wait!! just 3 more weeks!!! Thanks!!!!

you can do both in one day, i did it last time we went to paris and i am planning to do it now in april with my wife, trains departs from gare montparnasse to chartres i believe since 7:00 am and you can be there in 1 hour, tour the beautiful and definitely worthy cathedral and then go back to versailles by noon and spend the rest of the day there, after that, you can go back in time to gare montparnasse and round the day at la cagouille wich is not far from there ( actually thats my plan jiji) greetings.

I really appreciate Phild for such a valuable information it will help us a lot, Right now i am triyng to make a reservation for lunch at l`angle du faubourg, and the rest of the bistros we are plannig to go i think i will give it a try the day we arrive in Paris and see if we can reserve at least 5 or 6 of them.
certainly Les Fables sounds very good and will be at the top of my list (by the way, did you have trouble getting a reserve?) we are hoping to have lunch / dinner at any of these, the other days,

Hi guys we`re food enthusiastics from Monterrey Mexico and will be in paris by the end of april for a week, we have been reading all your valuable posts, and like to ask you for a few things in order to make the most out of our trip, we are planning to have at least 4 or 5 good meals (lunch or dinner) (planning to spend 100 euros for two with wine) and definitely splurge on one fine meal, the rest we are planning street food, baguettes, picnics, cheeses, crepes, the famous falafels in the marais, so we will much appreciate if you could give us your thoughts about:

The best 4 or 5 restos spendind 100 euros with wine.
a good place to splurge (for us at least) ( not going above 400 euros)
good areas to get street food
good place to buy food and wine for a picnic
