Decent French in NOVA?

I just want to second the recommendation of La Bergerie in Alexandria on Lee St. It truly is out of another time, with plush semicircular leather banquettes and traditional, discreet service and really good food. My husband and I ate there just last weekend, and his filet mignon was exceptionally good. It's always a very satisfying experience, which unfortunately is not always the case even when you're shelling out big bucks. Oh, and order a souffle for dessert when you order your meal.

Microbreweries & other cheap eats in DC

If your hubby loves beer, don't listen to the haters- go to Brickskellar! Your hubby will be be happy just perusing the multipage beer list, and in my experience the crowd is mostly professional happyhour types. Bierra Paradisio and the Reef are also great, and they do have more upscale, less greasy food.

Casa Oaxaca-Adams Morgan

I too have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Cafe Oaxaca since I saw the sign a month or so ago. I stopped in yesterday evening but only had time for a drink- really excellent sangria! The menu looks wonderful and very authentically Oaxacan. I've spent several months there over the past few years and the food is some of the best in the world, both the traditional home-style moles and the more inventive stuff- yes, they do make ravioli in Mexico! Anyway, we chatted with the chef at Casa Oaxaca and we'll definitely be going back for dinner very soon.

La Fin du Monde

Total Wine and More in McLean carries all the Unibroue beers.
