Fresh Pasta Cut to Order?
Aside from Rafetto's, which is closed on Mondays, is there anywhere in downtown Manhattan where I can buy fresh pasta cut to order? I'm craving it, but don't want a whole pound.
NYer visiting MSP for the first time
I'll be spending a long weekend in Minneapolis in June. I've never been before: what restaurants can I not miss? I'm especially interested in a nice place to take my friend who I'm staying with.
Where to buy fresh whole wheat pasta?
What's a good place in the general Chelsea/Flatiron/Union Square area to buy fresh-made whole wheat pasta?
Moving to Cobble Hill, what are your recommendations?
Lucali's is my second favorite pizza in New York and by far my favorite in CH/CG, but My Little Pizza is supremely awesome for a different sort of pizza: a perfect New York greasy pie.
Daily Candy Boston
That's not terribly fair. DailyCandy clearly separates the paid ads ("sponsored emails") from their normal emails, which in no way claim to be reviews, just notifications about products they like (and/or got a press release about).
West St Grill Closed
I called...apparently, they're just closed for renovations and will reopen, although probably not for some time.
Upper Crust: meh...
Oh! Little Stevie's, fuel of my high school years. The quality has gone slightly downhill (and god knows I would NEVER order anything but a plain slice), but the prices are great and it's still pretty damn good pizza. For what it's worth, I've always thought Upper Crust is reliably fine but rarely great...but then, my favorite Boston pizzerias include Pini's in Somerville and JP's Same Old Place.
One Girl Cookies off Smith St - What a scam!
I'm so surprised to hear all the venom. I go about once a week and have never received subpar service. The cookies are teeny tiny, true, but I find one or two to be pretty satisfying, especially the pumpkin whoopie pies!
Where to buy lobster?
Hey all,
I'm planning to make lobster tonight for my boyfriend and myself. I'm a New Englander, so I'm a total lobster snob. Where's the best place in the city (ideally in Chelsea or the Village) to buy the little guys?
Mazzat on Columbia St
I'm generally extremely laid back about service, but I must say that I had one of the worst service experiences of my life at Mazzat. My boyfriend and I went in for a quick beer and snack while we were waiting for our takeout from Lucali. We had to order our Harpoons and hummus plate no less than three times. The pita was obviously store bought and the hummus was grainy. When we asked for our check twice, we were told the owner had to bring it to us, which took about 20 minutes. Overall, a dreadful experience, which makes me sad, because I want to support businesses on Columbia St!
Challenge: a week of cheap eats
Mexican: Anna's Taqueria (Porter, Davis, Brookline, Kendall) or Tacos Lupita (Porter)
Italian: Bottega Fiorentina (Coolidge Corner)
Japanese: Porter Square Exchange food court
Also, I've done a few $20 a day roundups on my blog, which might be helpful (http://blogs.menupages.com/boston/category/the_20_challenge/).
Packard's 14 Masonic St Northampton, MA 01060 (413) 584-5957 (Phone)
I love the fries at Packard's, but I think Northampton Brewery has way better burgers. I've found my burgers at Packard's to be a little on the dry side.
Harvest Co-op Markets: Has anyone been?
I agree that both JP and Central Square have gone downhill in recent years, although the JP Harvest is still the best bet for those without a car in the area.
Same Old Place - JP - Gross.
I adore Same Old Place, but I definitely wouldn't order anything there beside a plain pizza. The basic pizza though is usually pretty yummy.
New Trend Eatery, Allston
lergnorm, do you know the number? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.
Passover-safe gourmet? Is it possible?
The Metropolitan Club in Chestnut Hill is offering a special Passover menu for the whole week. http://www.metclubandbar.com
