Non-LA style sushi, oysters in Sherman Oaks, Studio City Area?
Have you tried Bizen on Ventura Blvd? Not the top tier but certainly quite good.
Bitchin' Kitchen - Are they kidding???
But it's actually painfully unfunny. And her accent... is she supposed to be Italian? Sounds like she's got a speech impediment.
Need a great roll for a warm Tenderloin of Beef Sandwich
My pleasure! I've used this style of bread before for everything - burgers, pork tenderloin sandwiches, pulled pork and Italian beef. Let us know what you chose and how it was received.
Need a great roll for a warm Tenderloin of Beef Sandwich
Not sure what part of town you're in but many of the Armenian bakeries have something called "finger bread" that I find to be the perfect consistency, texture and chewiness for this kind of sandwich. While the bread itself will have the be cut up into portion-sized pieces, you can also look for the sandwich roll sized loaves made from the same dough. I know that Jon's Markets sell them.
The bread appears to be made simply from what appears to be basic APF (I'm no baker) and is on the pleasantly chewy side as opposed to the somewhat crumbly, eggy texture of brioche.
Jeni's ice cream, now in Bristol Farms, Silverlake
I don't think that there's a Bristol Farms in Silverlake. I've lived here for over ten years and have yet to see it.

Chipwich - is this available in LA???
I've tried the Blue Bunny Chips Galore and, as a former NYC Chipwich lover, I can say that they're pretty darned close. Maybe a bit smaller than my memories of the original chipwich.
Lucifer's Pizza Los Feliz?
Both times I've had it, the pizza has been free and, even then, I wouldn't want it again. The first time was so inedible I wouldn't have tried it the second time if I knew where it came from.
Think public school cafeteria and you'll get the general idea.
Please, People of LA... Where can I find my Goose Island brews?!?!
If you apply Rosetta Stone to TonyC's reply, you'll take away valuable info that a few TJ's beers are actually private labeled versions of Goose Island. I certainly know that to be the case for their Trinity Red Ale.
Any good Mexican food in Silver Lake?
I find Taco Zone pretty reliable. A big fan of the cabesa and tripe tacos, although most gueros go for the suadero (beef brisket). They usually don't get going until 8pm or so.
As for Alegria, I've brought beer in there before with zero problems but this was at least two years ago, maybe they've had some issues since then.
Asian Night Market to Open in Pasadena
Did anyone actually got to this? Care to comment?
International Food Markets in LA
Jon's Marketplace is a decent chain with locations around LA. They've got most of the regular grocery items plus a decent selection of Eastern European style breads, cheese, sausages and booze. The liquor aisle alone is worth checking out - where else can you get a bottle of Russian Standard vodka for $13?
Coming down from SF to LA for a week, need advice...
Check out this link by a resident DJ/Atlantic Monthly writer on nearby Taco Trucks. The Taco Zone in Silver Lake has killer offal tacos - the tripe and cabeza are my favorites - and the best salsa bar among the local competitors. They don't really get going until 8pm and continue through into the wee hours.

As a previous poster stated, the adjacent San Gabriel Valley is arguably the country's best place for various types of Chinese and Vietnamese food. You've gotta try JTYH Heavy Noodle II in Rosemead.

We also enjoy stopping for dessert at Fosselman's Ice Cream in Alhambra. Try the horchata ice cream. It's pretty amazing.

Mexican in Highland Park?
WIll, I notice you have an axe to grind against El Arco, as you've dissed them on more than a few posts here. Care to elaborate on your experience(s)?
And, to be clear, I'm no cheerleader for the place. I just find it to be a decent option when we're in the area and want sit-down Mexican with beer/wine/liquor options.
Mexican in Highland Park?
Huarache Azteca is fine in terms of food but the eating experience is bare bones, as you said.
Mexican in Highland Park?
El Arco Iris on York is decent. Standard "combo plate" Mexican but certainly better than El Torito.

La Parilla (Sunset in SL location) closed?
According to the link you posted, Westerly is going in "across the street from La Parilla."
Real, Traditional Club Sandwich in LA?
Poolside cafe at Beverly Hills Hotel. I had it with grilled chicken but it's pretty darned good, complete with fancy toothpicks to prevent toppling. Opting for chicken in your club usually results in getting "real" meat as opposed to processed turkey. I shudder at the thought of what Denny's would serve labeled as "turkey."
La Parilla (Sunset in SL location) closed?
My father mentioned the same thing to me at least three weeks ago. I guess it's adios to La Parilla.
Food & Wine Selects Primos as one of the best Donut Shops in the U.S.
I've gotta give this place a shot but it's nowhere near my general area - Los Feliz thru Downtown. Can anyone recommend something of similar quality over here?
Where can I get a HUGE burrito for $6 or less?
El Atacor's carnitas are fantastic. Some of the best in the area.
Billy's Glendale
I've eaten here a handful of times over the years and, while never being blown away, found it okay for a decent pastrami on rye when I didn't feel like making the trip to Langer's or Brent's. Went in on Thursday and ordered my usual - pastrami on rye with fries well done.
Let me just say that this will be my last visit to Billy's.
The pastrami was tasteless save for an off-putting sweetness and the bread was mushy, like something from a cut-rate grocery store. The fries, which are usually cooked to my liking, where flaccid and pale. All that for $16 plus tip.
Has anyone else noticed a marked decrease in quality?
Best Local Type Chains in Burbank/Santa Monica/Oxnard/Ventura Areas?
I'm not so clear as to why you want chain restaurants. Is it because you're more comfortable with them? Is it because you're afraid the GPS won't cover independently owned places? Wouldn't the point of going to a new place be to experience the local food?
That being said, Poquito Mas is decent and Umami Burger is certainly worth a try.

Traveling East coast hound needs very specific list
For meat and offal tacos I'd recommend Taco Zone, which is a van/trailer combo that parks on Glendale Blvd. (north?) of the intersection with Alvarado in Silver Lake/Echo Park after 8pm each night. They are known for suadero tacos but I really do like their cabesa - beef cheek - and tripas the best. Their salsas are also pretty great.
As for fish tacos, I believe that Ricky's has already been mentioned.
Incongruently-named/Silly/Misleading Recipe Names
There might not be cheese in it, but there is certainly head.
Food + Lab = huh?
Huh. My experience has been very different. Love their Nicoise salad with fresh seared ahi. And I don't seem to have the same corelle allergy that you do. :)
Food + Lab = huh?
This post is about the Silver Lake location.
Gotta say, I've been avoiding this place because of the all too studied, cutesy vibe it seems to be putting out - one more place using reclaimed wood and subway tile, seesh! - but, wanting to try something new (to me at least), I caved and went yesterday for lunch.
Had the chicken schnitzel sandwich that came with the tiniest side of potato salad I've ever seen in my life - maybe 1.5 fork fulls. The sandwich was minimalist as well - breaded chicken cutlet pressed in a chiabata with some sort of fruit relish - no greens, tomatoes, onions or anything else - just meat on bread with a little spread. Small sandwich, microscopic side, big price (for what you get). The service is similar to Local or Coffee Table, where you order at the counter and get a number.
While I have no issue paying for quality - the total including an Arnold Palmer was something like $15 - and the food was certainly tasty, I do have an issue when the quantity/price ratio is way out of whack.
This is good food for people who aren't particularly hungry. Go to Dusty's a few doors down for lunch. Better choices, full service including your own insulated coffee carafe and bread and portions that are at least twice the size for roughly the same price.
