affordable but good italian in greenwich village

I have some friends coming into town and they want to go to an italian restaurant. I hardly go out for italian so I need some help determining where to take them. They want to stick to Greenwich village and don't want to pay a ton. Is this even possible?

Any suggestions would be super. Anything with either outdoor seating or a garden might add to the whole "nyc cool factor."

Thanks guys!

If you weren't paying and had no price limit, where would you go?

So my boyfriend won a contest at his job and his prize is dinner for 4 on the company. And there is no limit on what we can spend!!! So with that... we want to go to the top of the line, best best restaurant in nyc. But considering we will never go to anywhere like this on our own, we have no idea where to go. Any suggestions?

I grew up in Long Island and still, to this day, I believe that my hometown bagel place makes the very best bagels. I'm waiting to find a place in manhattan to change my mind. So where is your favorite bagel place in manhattan?

Best West Village Restaurant

I just went to Bayard's two days ago and really liked it. Great service there.

Favorite Beer in America?

You might be thinking of Seadog Blueberry Ale... One of my all time favorites, and brewed in Maine. Also on the list: Shipyard Pumpkin Ale, Brooklyn Brown Ale... so good!

oooh, gramercy tavern sounds good. I can't get to the website because my computer is messed up, but is it slightly more upscale? It seems so, which I like and I think my friend would too.

Blind Tiger? Really? I'm so excited! I'm going to try and make it out there. I tried Arrogant Bastard Ale for the first time there!

Good food... even better Beer

Hey thanks for the suggestions... I'll look them both up. And Gingerman... I love that place but i'd have to agree, I can't really see that place having good food. Awesome beer selection though!

Good food... even better Beer

Hey everyone... I have a friend visiting and I want to take him somewhere that we can not only have a decent meal, but have some interesting beers as well. I have yet to find a place in the city that does both. Its either a great beer selection with no food or greasy food or great food with your typical 5 beers on tap. I'm in the west village so the closer the better, but I'll travel uptown if its worth it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
