If you are ever in the Jeffersonville area...Golden Key on Ridge/Main Street have Egg Drop on their menu. |

I have gotten take out twice now from Mango Tree and have very happy with the food. Generous portions and the food is very fresh and tasty. I love the Drunken Noodles. Mango Tree is now my Thai place to go to! |

I would also recommend Zwahlens in Audubon. I live a few blocks from them and they have never disappointed. Also have great chocolates and candy apples. |

Best Wings and Pizza Combo in Montgomery County, Pa I agree with CG...love Charlie's Pizza and have put away my share of wings at Capones. I have been meaning to try Soho2 in Blue Bell. |

New Thai restaurant in Eagleville! CP, I see it got two 5-star reviews on Yelp and the had a $10/$20 promotion on Yelp as well. Funny, I saw their food stand at the Lower Providence Fall Festival and everything looked good. For $10, I am willing to try it sometime this week. Will report back. |

Desperately seeking meat in Allentown Have you tried the Allentown Farmer's Market? The link below is to the listing of butchers at the market. |

Thai Aroma Chow Meet up 9/21/12 Thanks for the comments. I just got the Groupon offer and came back to see recent comments. l really liked that the Groupon can be used on take out...which is easier for me at times. |

You might want to check out the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hampton Inn at the Convention Center. You are just two or so blocks from Broad Street and in the heart of the city. You should be able to get into one of these for under $200...and they would be a step up from the Holiday Inn. |

I was just in Philly last night with a buddy. On weekdays at the Oyster House, they have $1 oysters from 5-7pm....but you have to be seated in the bar area. I would try to get there at 5 to get a seat. My friends plane was lated due to the weather...so we missed HH. Still had some great and super fresh oysters..Kusshi, Naked Cowboy (which were almost as big as my hand!), Blond Beach, etc. You want the Oyster House at 1516 Sansom. If you like mussels and good beer, then Monk's Cafe on 16th Street is a place you don't want to miss. We ended up eating three different small buckets of mussels...delicious. Also tried something new...braised calf's cheeks...excellent. For a hotel room in Philly...I always use Hotwire.com or Priceline. We stayed at the 4-star Marriot last night for $150. |

Staying at the Sofitel, looking for nearby restaurant suggestions I would also throw out The Oyster House. Not sure if your child likes seafood, but I think they have a burger on the menu. |

Ok...it is in the shopping center off Henderson. I believe it is where there was a Thai place a while back. Will have to give it a try...thanks. |

Grass fed half steer somewhere around $5.00/lb hanging weight... is it a pipe dream?? I just returned from a trip to see family in central Nebraska. I was in a small town (2200 people) and saw a small butcher shop. I went in and got some great steaks. His price for aged grass feed was $3.00/lb processed and packaged. Given the severe draught...farmers are selling cattle cheap. I wish I could have brought a 1/2 cow back with me. |

Maple Acres Farm in Plymouth Meeting usually has some heirlooms. WHole Foods will also have some soon. |
|

Local Milk (Willow Grove, PA)? Not sure about raw...but first thing came to mind is Merrymead farm store in Worcester and Freddy Hill Farms in Lansdale. |

The bicolor from Maple Acres was good...I would give it a 6.5/10. Sweet, but not as much as I have had from the in the past. I agree with the other poster that the later summer corn will be better. My 86 year old mother howled when I told her corn was $7/dozen. I grew up in central Nebraska and each summer farmer friends of the family would pull into the driveway and unload grain sack after grain sack of sweet corn. She put it up for the winter and I spent hours sitting under the shade of a tree in the front yard husking hundreds of ears of corn. |

|
I went by the Smith Road stand Saturday morning...no corn...just a few tomatoes, zucchini and herbs. Just got back from Maple Acres and got a half-dozen of their bicolor. Will try it out tonight. |

I will hit Maple Acres tomorrow and try some of the white and bicolor. |

Appalachian Brewing Company - Collegeville I took my 8 year old son there a couple of months ago. I had their beer-cheese soup and was not impressed...way too thick...almost like paste. My son liked his burger. They brought his kid's appetizer plate out as we were leaving...said they forgot it. I see no reason to return. |

I was hoping to get out and see if any local corn was in yet. I hit Maple Acres in Plymouth Meeting, the farm stand on Germantown Ave just past the Methacton High School and Pete's Produce on route 926 in Chester County. Thanks, |

National Lobster Day - Where to get great lobster in Western Suburbs Whole Foods in Devon would be one choice...not sure if there is still a Hills Fish Market in Villanova. Also have the new Wegman's in King of Prussia. |

I got take out on Saturday and was very pleased. I went with the Spicey Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The chicken was wonderful...with just the right amount of spice. The Mongolian beef was tender and came with mushrooms and onions. Compared to the typical Americanized chinese food that I have suffered through...this will be my go spot for right now. Will have to try some of the more authentic meals in the future. |

I buy most of my meat from Carl Venezia Meats in Plymouth Meeting...I am going to ask them if they get sides of beef or if it's all Cryovac. |
|

The Pudges in East Norriton is still open...love their cheesesteaks and onion rings. |

Where to buy oysters in Philly I hope to make a trip into Philly in the next couple of weeks and buy a varieity of oysters to try...I like to bring them home and shuck myself. Asking for any recommendations. Wondering about what would be available in the Reading Terminal Market or South Philly. Thanks... |

Breakfast/Lunch in Doylestown with 5 & 7 year olds Thank you for the recommendations. We got to Cross Keys on Monday (MLK Day) at 1:00 and it was packed. I found the last open parking space. Went in to find a 25 minute wait. The kids were starving and we had to leave...despite the great smells and such. Going back with the kids to check out the Mercer House, so we will try to hit it then. Thanks... |

Breakfast/Lunch in Doylestown with 5 & 7 year olds I am taking my son and daughter to the Mercer Museum on Monday. I am not sure if they will want to go out for breakfast or lunch, so asking for recommendations for both. Thanks much, Adenn1 |

Chinese in Collegeville/Trooper area Sorry...I do think that Chinese food has become really mediocre in our area. You know, I forgot that Chinese place up the road on Ridge...just past Trooper. I believe it is called China Inn...it's between gas station and car dealership. Drive by it all the time...but have never seen more than a couple of cars there. Looks like a real dive too. Curious if anyone has tried this place. CP...I will have to try Han Dynasty in Royersford and see what it is all about. |

Sunday brunch around DC convention center Thank you both...the brunch menus at Acadiana and Jaleo look great. Appreciate the help... ----- |

Sunday brunch around DC convention center I'm a Philly hound who is coming down to DC to see a friend in for a convention. I would like to find a nice Sunday brunch in the convention center area (or we could travel a bit...no problem). Thanks... |

Chinese in Collegeville/Trooper area Chef Paulo...I guess I can toss the Jasmine Cafe take out menu. I guess I am not surprised...the few time I had take out from them...I never saw anyone in there. I thought the food was okay...but the portions small. About the only thing left I can think of is the Golden Key in Jeffersonville. It's on Ridge...off the street back in a small strip mall. It's across the road from the Wine/Spirits store and Chaps. Again, the food is okay...not sure if I would put it in the really good category. I found their prices were reasoable and good sized portions. I think I have gotten "lost" in the world of mediocre Chinese take out. I need to venture into Philadelphia and get into some of the better establishments there to re-establish what good Chinese food is all about. I should give Han Dynasty a try...but a bit of a drive for take out...and I have read recently that it has slippped a bit. |
