Jupiter, FL & Surrounding Areas Special Restaurants

Thank you so much for the PB recs, exactly what I was looking for! I know Jupiter restos, while good, are a little more casual and not what I had in mind. Thanks again, and thanks to all who replied!

Jupiter, FL & Surrounding Areas Special Restaurants

Hi hounds,
Been a while since I've been on - last time I was here there were 2 FL boards...?
Anyhow, I'm sorry if I'm coming up as a redundant request but I am not from the area. I am looking for a very special place to send my parents as a thank you gift. They've been amazingly supportive to my husband and I, and we'd like to show them just a small token of our appreciation. Something top notch. I've been to the local really "good-great" restos, but I'd love to give them a gift of something new, different & memorable. Any recs are much appreciated. Thanks much in advance.

I went yesterday. Small heirloom selection, but overall nice selection of tomatoes & other veggies. Hoping they will put more out over the weekend.

Fairway - Stamford

Walked over during lunch. It is truly a sight to see. Its pretty crowded, but not mobbed (inside at least). Lots of folks in the neighborhood stopping in at the prepared foods section which includes a hot bar, salad bar, burger bar, pizza bar, panini bar, noodle bar, smoothie bar, coffee bar, etc etc.
The store itself is enormous. The produce, the olive bar, the cheese, the coffee, the fishmonger, the butchers, the bulk bins, the bakers, the PRICES! It's everything I've dreamed of and more. Debating if I should head back over after work for further investigation. It's definitely going to take a couple of weeks for things to calm down.

Fairway - Stamford

Fairway Eve is upon us and I thought I'd open up the thread so we can all post our thoughts on it over the next few weeks.

What are you particularly looking forward to?

Try Lou's Pizza on 123 in Norwalk, part of the Letizia family. John's Best on 123 is closed for renovations.

Stamford, Ct- Solo Midweek Dining

Barcelona is right across the street from Napa. There's next to no on-street parking in that area. You will likely have to pay to park in one of the lots. Napa (or the Marriott) has valet parking, and down the block right past the movie theatre is another big lot.

Do you have a car? The Hilton is set away from downtown, in a corporate park. Its not exactly pedestrian friendly to get into town from there.
Would recommend Barcelona (tapas), Fin II (sushi), Napa & Co (farm to table - pricey, but fabulous and casual).

Moving away. Need help prioritizing where to eat in FF county?

I've really enjoyed your posts, Adam! You single-handedly turned an entire county on to the wonders of El Charrito. Best wishes!

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably do a couple last stops at some of the farm to table joints around - Schoolhouse (maybe for a special occasion meal for you & the wife -- it is a very special place), Napa, Harvest, a couple other places in Westport.

ETA: I would also 2nd Lou's suggestion and get yourself some marlin dip and enjoy.

Delray Beach Area Restaurants

Thank you all so much! Here's what I'm initially thinking....we will definitely have lunch at the Beach Club. In regards to dinner, I like the look of Dada & Tryst for Friday and Saturday nights (will call ahead for ressies). I figure Sunday night we'd choose btwn Atlantic Grille, 32 East, or Tramonti's. I don't think we'll need a res since it is Sunday, after all.

Delray Beach Area Restaurants

I'm going to piggy back on this post as we are flying in this wknd (I originally posted on the FL board) - Any help is appreciated!

OP:
We're flying down to visit some family next weekend and need help for dinners in the Delray area. We are totally unfamiliar with the area. We're staying at The Seagate on East Atlantic Ave. There's a restaurant in our hotel - The Atlantic Grille? Any feedback? We'd prefer to go to places that are within walking distance of the hotel, though we do have a car. I saw some reviews on 32 East. Is it worth it? I imagine it's pretty hot down there, so we're looking for lighter fare...places focused on fresh seafood.

Any help is much appreciated.

Oh Bumstead, that is a sad sad thought. Unfortunately, we're in town for just a long wknd - I don't foresee us driving to Jupiter.

Thanks Sam, any other ideas? We'll definitely do Dada's one night.

Good beach restaurant in St Pete/Clearwater for a group

I don't think Fenchy's is a special occasion spot...at all. Try Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl. You will get an amazing view. It is however a little pricey.
We had a really nice dinner at Beachcomber as well. No view, but live piano all night.

Chocolatier - Newport, RI

Hi, Can anyone recommend an excellent chocolatier in Newport? I am looking to give some local chocolates as wedding favors. Or if there are any excellent bakeries in the areas, would love to hear those suggestions too.
Thanks!

Fairfield County CT- Where to go for a 70th Birthday party?

I have not tried this place as I'm never in the area, but it gets some good press. Maybe worth at least a phone call. It might be a little closer to Stratford & Trumbull.

Fairfield County CT- Where to go for a 70th Birthday party?

Are you able to expand your location parameters?

Bernard's in Ridgefield is quite lovely with several private dining rooms.

Another thought would be, if your father lives in the area and would be willing to use his own home (or if you have other relatives around), try chef Tim Labant's from The Schoolhouse's catering company.

ETA: The only other real option I can think of in Westport is having the party at Splash (Inn at Longshore).
