good spot for an afternoon cocktail or two (LES, EV)
looking to grab a cocktail or two this afternoon with a friend who is coming in to town, around 3:15ish. preferably somewhere casual and low key but with a solid cocktail list.
Early Dinner LES mid priced

brunch w/ unlimited bloody marys/mimosas?
sorry for not searching, i was in a hurry. friends are running late so i can actually do some research now...
i have been to bondi road a few times, its definitely a sunday afternoon party.
brunch w/ unlimited bloody marys/mimosas?
i have some friends coming in to the city in about 30 minutes and was curious if you guys had any favorite places that offer unlimited bloody marys/mimosas/bellinis/whatever with their brunch and has at least average food. i'm in the lower east side and they'll be meeting me here but we are willing to go anywhere really.
Shake Shack Recommendations
this thread lead me to eat SS for lunch today and I must say the fries were much better than every other time i've been. hot and very crispy. skipped the shake today unfortunately.
Shake Shack Recommendations
how is the red velvet custard? i am interested to try that, as well as the Flan.
i avoid the fries. single shackburger + shackmeister ale or single shackburger + shake.
More Cheap Eats, but cheap for college kids?
how could i forget mamouns. such a great deal.
Your Favorite Jean-Georges Lunch Selections
like RGR I was particularly fond of the young garlic soup and the scallops. however, i'm not sure if i felt like the scallops were worth the $8 supplement.
i didn't order the asparagus salad but i tasted my mothers and i quite enjoyed it. although, like RGR said, it is just a salad. i would start with the soup. i cannot remember what wine I had with the soup but the pairing was great.
and the chocolate dessert was worth $8 in my opinion. skip the scallops and get the dessert.
More Cheap Eats, but cheap for college kids?
dumpling house on eldridge- i think its called Vanessa's Dumplings now? very cheap dumplings but i really dig the sesame pancake with roasted pork. i can leave absolutely stuffed, maybe with leftovers, for $4.50-5.00.
Thoughts/Reviews from a recent Manhattan Foodie Trip
good read.
and kathryn i agree 100% about the cake vs. yeast donuts at DP. i think the cake is the way to go, although I do love the PB&J. its literally two blocks away so i may head there in the morning actually because i noticed that they have a carrot cake cake donut right now.
The REAL borders of Chinatown (Mantattan)
where is the best place for jerky closer to the eastern edge, i.e. essex and delancey area? just moved to the area and want to get some tomorrow.
What to get on Scarpetta anniversary menu?
Ahh... well i'm getting in on Thursday morning and according to opentable they're booked thurs and friday night. Oh well...
Atlanta sunday brunch/bloody mary's
Thanks for the suggestions. Murphey's looks good but I am a sucker for a bloody mary bar, especially if there are lots of (good) hot sauces and pickled veggies. Hmm...decisions, decisions.
Atlanta sunday brunch/bloody mary's
I am heading to Atlanta next saturday for a concert that night, and I am dead set on waking up Sunday and enjoying some bloody mary's and a good brunch to cure my hangover and get ready for the superbowl. The show's at the Tabernacle and I am staying at the Embassy Suites by centennial olympic park, so somewhere in that area is preferred, though driving is an option. A great bloody mary is very crucial, but the food needs to be at least average. I would like somewhere that is a little more creative/innovative than your standard brunch fare but i am not going to be too picky... but the bloody mary must be good. Thanks.
Chicken liver dishes?
I am going to be in NYC next weekend and i'm a huge chicken liver fan (I was born and raised in the south, raised on fried chicken livers) so I am going to keep an eye on this thread. :)
Thanksgiving in Knoxville
are you looking for somewhere that will be offering special thanksgiving dinner menu options or anything? or just a good meal?
Small Mexican and Hispanic spots in Knoxville
I am curious about this too. I am looking for at least one good authentic place to get some hispanic food...Mexican, Salvadoran, anything..just something good, cheap, and authentic!
Chattanooga Brunch Suggestions
Aretha's, while good, is a pain to eat at (weekends especially). If it's crowded expect at least 40 minutes to get your food. If there's only a few tables it still could take that long. I haven't really had any problems with flies when I've been but it just takes too long to get your food. It's good, though.
Tell me about YOUR dutch baby
fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are my favorites) and a small sprinkle of powdered sugar. mmmm. haven't made 'em in a while. it used to be almost a daily thing with my ex.

roadtrip stops back from school
For Chattanooga I'd say Riverstreet Deli is a pretty good option for lunch. It's on the other side of the river from downtown, in Coolidge Park. Pretty tasty sandwiches. Reasonably priced, too. Aretha Frankensteins, about a mile down the road from Coolidge Park, has terrific breakfast (huge pancakes, HUGE breakfast burritos with a ton of options for fillings, biscuits with great apple butter, awesome hashbrowns/homefries). They also have some regular burritos, sandwiches, and even a shrimp & grits dish that's quite tasty.
I'm relatively new to Knoxville myself so I don't really know that many good, non-chain restaurants in the area. The thread about knoxville/oak ridge had a lot of suggestions, though.
Krystal Burgers
While I don't think they're all THAT great I eat them a fair amount. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, too, so I've been eating them as long as I can remember. These days I tend to get Chiks more, though. I must admit though that there is nothing like a late night trip to Krystal after a long night out with friends. They taste 10x better to me after midnight and a few drinks.
What to order at Waffle House?
The grilled texas cheesesteak, as rockycat said, is deliciously greasy and satisfying. Also a good old fashioned bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on their texas toast is great. And hash browns are a must. I have had tons of combos, but scattered, smothered (onions), and double covered (double cheese) is my favorite.
Good food in Chattanooga, TN?
I'm not too sure about brunch. Aretha Frankenstein's on Tremont has pretty darn good breakfast, though. It burned (almost to the ground) back before I moved to Knoxville but I *think* it has been repaired and re-opened at this point.
Good food in Chattanooga, TN?
Ah I forgot Bluewater. Hennen's was also good the one time I went and it's just a couple of blocks away from Bluewater/Big River Grill.
