Looking for a Quick Early Dinner in JP
Had a good meal at Tres Gatos a few months back - would happily go back.
And, contrary to other posts had an enjoyable early dinner at the bar at Canary Square on Sunday. Started with the tofu/leek dumplings. Didn't care for the sweet/hot dipping sauce, but Sriracha did the trick. Also had the tuna tacos - rare tuna, guac, sour cream. The black bean salad was nothing to write home about - canned black beans, lots of cumin. Overall a quick, satisfying meal, great beer selection, and I just liked the vibe there.

Chez Henri (dining room): A big let down
Yes, Groupon expired yesterday, and the bar was full and waiting - for patrons like me - who were cashing them in. Still, busy restaurant is no excuse for poor service and execution. FWIW, the Cubano at the bar was excellent, really enjoyed the Rhum Cocktail Marilene, and the oysters (Island Creek) were very tasty with a mignonette and tomatillo salsa.

Bar at Union
We had drinks and food at the bar Friday around 10. Pretty much ignored by the bartender and bartender-in-training despite the fact that there was only one other person at the bar - seemed to be a friend of the trainee, so that was most likely the reason. She didn't know what a gimlet was (??), and then the hostess had to help us get attention to order wine. Bummer, because the food was good.

Mother's Day Brunch
Ended up changing our rez. Harvest has Prix Fixe, and it felt too limited for $60 pp. And mom generally doesn't eat 3 courses. We decided on Mistral which I'm really looking forward to. Regular menu, lots of options. Will report back.

Saturday lunch, not brunch?
I'm looking for lunch - not brunch - in the S End or Back Bay Saturday. My first thoughts were Gaslight, Aquitaine, Rocca, B&G - but the first two are brunch and the latter two are not open till dinner. Willing to go outside the S.End and Back Bay is limited, I know. Myers + Chang not an option as lunch pal not into Asian. What am I forgetting? Thanks!

Where to buy Chinese food containers in the Cambridge/Somerville/Boston area?
I buy them in Chinatown, and you can get them a lot cheaper there I would imagine than a "specialty" store. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the place, but it sells a ton of things from individually wrapped chopsticks (which I also bring on picnics) to toys, clothes, knick-knacks, etc. I need to pick some up and I'll try to remember to report back with the name and street.

Picked up my half share from Allandale CSA yesterday: scallions, spring garlic, mesclun mix, spinach, young peppery watercress, kale, huge napa cabbage, red leaf lettuce. Fabulous! Salads, green shakes, baja fish tacos for upcoming meals, and thinking about making some kimci with the napa....
Where can I find the best shrimp scampi pizza or even a clam pizza?
Figs no longer does a clam pizza, sorry to say. They do a rock shrimp pie though. And Upper Crust does clam - and I think they do shrimp too.

Thanks DB. Diners don't do pasta or many carbs- should have said that to start. So don't necessarily want Italian - dinner companion had from grilled menu at Prezza last time. We've been to No 9 - also really enjoyed.
