Vegan Duncan Hines cupcakes

All I can say is... WOW! Thanks for the recipe. I can't bake for the life of me, but this was incredibly easy and they taste great! The best part is that they taste like a cupcake, not a healthy or vegan cupcake but just a normal cupcake. And that is a very good thing.

Vegan Duncan Hines cupcakes

My son is allergic to milk protein and egg whites, so I am trying to make vegan cupcakes his 1st birthday party. I am not a baker, actually I am an awful baker, so I would like to use a cake mix. I've found that most flavors of Duncan Hines are vegan, which is good, but they all call for eggs, which is bad.

I've come across a couple of recipes called soda cake which simply replace the oil and eggs with a can of soda. After trying this last night, the taste was fine but I was disappointed with the texture.

Has anyone made a vegan cake or cupcakes with Duncan Hines mix before? What would be a good substitution for 3 eggs?

I need ideas for jamaican side dishes

Sounds good. I like your idea to add some allspice to it.

In addition allspice being in the jerk rub I plan on putting some whole berries in the coals to add some extra flavor to the smoke.

Casava might be hard to come by, and I think you're right about it being more African than Jamaican.

I like the calaloo idea. Maybe I'll try it with collards.

Thanks.

I need ideas for jamaican side dishes

I'm going to be cooking up some jerk chicken in my smoker and would like to complete the meal with some good side dishes. For the starch I'm torn between festival and rice & peas. Fried plantains are probably traditional but neither my wife or myself are big fans of plantain.

Does anyone have any ideas for a good veggie side or even another starch?

Momofuku Ssam Bar

I am planning a dinner for 10 people here, but when I call they only have an automated message that says they don't do reservations.... How can I order the pork butt and get a reservation?

Perugia Chocolate Festival

Has anyone been? I will be in the area at that time, but I don't know if it is worth it or not.

Any suggestions for Tuscany/Umbria?

I will be in Tuscany/Umbria with my wife for a week in October. We are trying to pass through Perugia for the chocolate festival, and maybe somewhere else for some delicious truffles. Some other places on our list are Florence, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo. We will probably be staying near Florence and doing day trips to the other cities. Does anyone have any good suggestions for places to eat in these areas? We like to go local and eat as traditionally as possible. We don't mind spending money for a meal, but it had better be good ;-)

Where's the good food in San Francisco?

I am going to be visiting San Francisco from NYC for a weekend with my wife and we want to go to a good restaurant. We are waitlisted at French Laundry, but I am not holding my breath. I think Fleur de Lys looks great, but I don't know about anything else.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Birthday Dinner

Thanks for the tip on the Enoteca, but they only take same day reservations for a max of 6 people... Although, I will definately be going there soon.

Birthday Dinner

I am setting up a surprise birthday dinner for my wife (the big 28) and roughly a dozen other people. We are both big foodies, more cooking at home than eating out, but we love to eat fancy delicious food. I am trying to find something that will be good for a crowd of 14, and won't break the bank for each person. I would like to do a tasting dinner but everything seems like it will be $200+ pp to do a tasting wine pairing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
