Our table was just steps from the beach, under date trees at the Sea of Galilee in Israel. Ex boyfriend knew the owner, who opened this stunning private beach dinner club just for us for lunch. After much sunning and frolicking in the water, a procession of waiters brought us a veritable feast of dips, pita, cheeses, grilled local fish, veggies, and Israeli salads. The colours and flavours were unforgettable. To top it off, after our day at the beach, we drove a couple of minutes to an Arab market, where I jammed as many tiny preserved lemons into my bag as possible. Now I worry about what I’m going to do when the lemons run out. Guess I’ll just have to fly back with my new and improved boyfriend – it’ll be worth the trip.

club soda with fresh lime or Lime Perrier.

At the moment I'm on a noodle kick. Shanghai noodles and General Tso chicken from C'est Bon.

My current top five Toronto favourites include: Le Paradis, Terroni, Aunties and Uncles, The Rushton, The Spoke Club. Simple, yet reasonably priced pleasures.
