Maritimes After Labor Day
Most places are still open and as there are fewer people most places have switched to off-season rates. Try The Water's Edge Inn, Cafe & Gallery in Badddeck, NS Great rooms, good foodincluding heart healthy & veg items. They do not have a fryer in the kitchen at all. The art gallery is full of original work by lots of Maritime artists. As the name suggests, they are on the water.
Best CHOWDER in Nova Scotia and PEI?
Hands down, the chowder at The Water's Edge Cafe in Baddeck. On the waterfront, LOTS of seafood and the dairy is not added untill you order it so not overcooked. Good selection of beer, local wines (some good, some not so good -ask). Good selection of sandwiches, paninis & wraps. Homemade sinfully fattening desserts. It is also an Inn & art gallery.
Nova Scotia for 1
Lobster is in season on Cape Breton in June so should be good time to find fresh. Second the response about Herring Choker on Cape Breton. Also suggest The Water's Edge( www.thewatersedgeinn.com ) in Baddeck for excellent seafood chowder and great desserts (if you are not on a diet). Hometown kitchen in Cheticamp is a family run place with pan-fried fish n chips. The locals are often good with recommendations for good local food. Ask for local lobster pounds or lobster fisherman. Some will cook them for you.
