Can't Miss in the Outer Banks (NC)

I am planning a trip to the Outer Banks in NC to see the banker ponies. What can this chowhound not over look in the gastronomical sense? I would love it if I could find some variation of a crab bake/boil or some excellent seafood reccos.

Should we eat dinner at one of the casinos? KC

I have heard fairly positive reviews of the Journey Steakhouse at Argosy.

Suggestions in Kansas City, near the Plaza?

Christopher Elbow is a must!!!

Ga-ga for Christopher Elbow-KC

All the previously mentioned chocolates plus the Russian Tea and I am insane for the English Toffee.

Kansas City Pizza/Mexican Food

I like Pizza 51, The Art of Pizza, Torres Pizza, Waldo Pizza, Minsky's, D'Bronx

Mexican I like Jalepenos, Ponacks, Los Corrals, and yes I love Jose Pepper's.

KC Recommendations in the Downtown Area

one80 in Westport has a really tasty brunch (lots of breakfast items though) on Sat and Sun. Though the portions are small. The eggs Benedict are some of the best I've had. Mama's on 39th is the real deal kind of breakfast place but might be a little to far out of your way but I highly reccomend it.

How about Plaza III for dinner? Can't go wrong with a Kansas City Strip at one of the most vernerable steak restaurants in the city.

KC visit round up (long)

May I suggest next time you come visit KC you take a trip out by the Speedway to Granny's Chicken Ranch? IMHO their bird is 100x better than Strouds.

Last bbq post before our KC trip--help me over the hump

I love their lamb ribs, I found them to be the most tender and tasty ribs I have ever had. I have loved Jack Stack for 25 years, since their only location was in Martin City and it was still called Smokestack.

I don't care for Arthur Bryants the meat is too dry and the sauce waaaaay to vinegary--even their "sweet sauce"

LC's is always a treat....any chance I get.

Gates for me is meh.

never been to OK Joes

Beauchamps in Lee's Summit has potential.

Any good sushi recommendations in KC area?

I've heard good things about Domo in Brookside. Haven't tried it yet but want to get there some day.

Personally I hate Stroud's and reccomend Granny's Chicken Ranch much more strongly. LC's is awesome BBQ. For your fine dining experience maybe you should check out Bluestem

KC where is your dessert spot?

Easy and obviously:

Murray's Ice Cream and Cookies
&Christopher Elbow Chocolates

Best Philly Cheesesteak/KC Area??

SIIIIIIGH!!!!!! I miss Boston Cheesesteak Co. They used to be in Westport and I used to go at least once a week. I even had a crush on a server there named Claire. I wish it was close to me than Gardner.

Chow suggestions for Kansas City, MO

You can't go wrong with any of the recs from the KC Chowhounds here so I am just going to add two after dinner can't misses:

Christopher Elbow Chocolates--closed Sundays and Mondays
and Murray's Ice Cream and Cookies--closed Mondays and Tuesdays

Last minute visit to KC from NYC

With the exception of Souperman actually being in the crossroads, I think you have a pretty set list. I would reccomend going to Murray's in Westport for ice cream however. How long to you plan to stay in KC? Because that is a LOT of restaurants to visit.

Oh and it pains me to say it but I do like Blanc Burger better then ChefBurger. Though you shouldn't discount ChefBurger out of hat it is damn good as well.

KC - YJ's Snack Bar

I went for lunch last week--after watching Diners Dives and Drive-Ins. I had dirty rice and it was pretty good, the pico de gallo served on the side was very fresh and very tasty. I think it's worth it to try it out.

Looking for the Miracle Berry in KC

I am guessing this is the longest of long shots. Does anyone know where I can can buy miracle berries in KC? Those in the know will know why finding the miracle berry is a foody's dream. Those who don't know about it should get aquainted with it's unique properties and as a foody shoud become intruigued by it.

So? Does anyone know if the Miracle Berry is available in KC?

KC - where should I go to lunch....?

Have you considered The Crayola Cafe at Crown Center? I am not sure how good the food is but I bet the kiddies will love you for it anyway.

KC -- Dinner after 10pm

La Bodega and McCoy's I believe stay open late.

One dinner in Kansas City?

Well maybe not enjoying a slab of ribs but definitely a brisket sandwich on an egg roll at D'Bronx.

Go, Chicken, Go - Kansas City

Oh hells yes!!! My go to meal is the all breast snack pack with the mashed potatoes and gravy and an extra roll. Dude I should totally go tomorrow!!!

Blanc Burgers + Bottles- KC

I just got back from Blanc about an hour ago. I went for lunch and had their classic burger and the Blvd Pale Ale onion rings. And now I must admit I enjoyed it more than ChefBurger. I had my burger cooked medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Even for 6oz ( I opted for the lunch Quick Fix which is a smaller portion) it was quite filling. The onion rings were light and not over burdened with breading and the onion was not tough to bite into. I really enjoyed the home made ketchup and only wished they provided more.

It got really loud in there but that was because I was there during the lunch rush ( luckily I got there right before the rush and got my order in a pretty quick turn around).

I want to go back and try the American Kobe beef burger I just wasn't prepared to spend $12 for hamburger today Kobe or not.

One dinner in Kansas City?

PotPie in Westport.

Phillips Chophouse-KC

Well since I olny went for Thanksgiving I really wouldn't be any help....but I did enjoy it then. Let us all know how it was. I am looking forward to going back as soon as I can myself.

KC- P&L District Chef Burger?

Is it new? Last time I went--back in the fall--all they had were bottles drinks.

Very early morning breakfast, KC to Canton

Ok in all seriousness I went and looked to see if my favorite breakfast place is open early enough for you, and depending what day you are leaving I think you may be in luck. Mama's on 39th. I cannot reccomend this place highly enough.

Just read the review in the provided link.

KC- P&L District Chef Burger?

I was going to post the same article but was too lazy. Besides I figure a person is going to like or dislike a restaurant despite what reviews, reputations or what have you come before a personal opinion about a restaurant. I mean I know how a lot of people feel about Yahooz but I still love the place.

KC- P&L District Chef Burger?

are they open now?

KC- P&L District Chef Burger?

I personally like Souperman. I love the Boulevard Ale Cheese Broccoli soup. My only problem with Souperman is they don't have fountain drinks. Everything is bottled so therefor no refills...and after a big cup of soup and one of their wraps I really need something to wash it down. Alas I usually end up next door at the magazine rack and get me a big glass of iced tea.

The waffle fries and the garlic fries must be new...I don't remember seeing them on the menu when I went a few weeks ago..

What is Blanc burger?
