need help finding specific Italian resto in Buffalo
My DH and I were cross-border shopping sometime back and were referred to a place we want to go back to. It was an Italian place - very old school...on a main looking street. This place had great pasta - not fancy - but really yummy. We were heading back early so we got there intime for the earlybird dinner specials - and it was full of elderly Italians - that was a good sign.
I do not remember too much about the decor - but it was simple. Oh, the resaurant had a large window facing the street it was on.
Any idea what it could be?

sugar free pies in GTA?
I am looking for sugar free pies (or other baked goodies). They are for a diabetic who can not have sugar substitutes either - so no splenda, equal, agave... I tried MacMillan Orchards in Ajax - they use subs...
Is there anywhere in the GTA that has such offerings?
Weekday lunch recs in Yonge/Lawrence area
thanks for all the recs - its a toss up - Wildfire or Breadbar - shall see how we feel that day.
As for Joy Thai - my mother who is is very strict veg went there - they said that was difficult as it would alter from the recipes - as many dishes have sauces, broths etc that were animal/seafood based. She was there so she tried it anyways and was not pleased....we've had the same issue at Cravings.
Weekday lunch recs in Yonge/Lawrence area
Breadbar seems to have a very limited lunch menu - but might be a good option. I dont think Joy Thai will work as it must have veg options and last time I called they had nothing that was completely veg. Milagro uptown no longer does lunch. We really need some options in the area that are not italian or lame!
Weekday lunch recs in Yonge/Lawrence area
I am meeting up with someone for lunch in the area - and we are trying to avoid italian...is there anything else in the area?
I was thinking Cravings - but my companion knows food - and this might be too "unauthentic" as far as asian goes.
Is there anything worth going to open for lunch during the week?
need rec for quick cheap lunch Yonge/Eg
We are going to be in the area tomorrow and want to get a bite between meetings.
Must be vegetarian friendly - and not Thai (no peanuts allowed) .
Is there anything quick in the area? Does not have to be 5 star - must be clean tho.
thanks!
Toronto Food Tour
for Jamaican - try Gerry's on st clair west - not an eat in place tho.
for cheap Indian - Moti Mahal on gerrard (for &&&& try Amaya on bayview south of eglinton
Canoe is always great.
Untied Bakers is good - and if you want a deli style sandwich with latkes try Colemans - on bathurst just north of lawrence.
happy eating!
Best All You Can Eat Japanese in Toronto GTA

Best All You Can Eat Japanese in Toronto GTA
Hi, taking my sister out for dinner and she wants ayce - we are in central TO but willing to drive if it is worth it. We have had recs for Sushi on 7, Maison du Japon and Thee Asian Kitchen.
What would be our best bet for cooked and raw (mostly interested in fish - she doesnt eat beef or pork) .
Thanks!
Mid priced French ?
We are planning a birthday dinner for a friend who loves French food...unfortunately that usually comes at a cost and we need to keep peoples budgets in mind. I suggested Celestin - but that was too $$.
Any suggestions for something good and not too pricey? Someone at work mentioned Herbs - but I dont know - is that any good?
btw - they must have fois gras on the menu.
thanks!
Saskatoon Berries in Toronto?
they had some at culinarium too - i think they are frozen.

Vintage Hotels Brunch
ok, so what are your recs?
we are only there for the night (Sunday) and the only thing we are set on is that we want to go to the falls for fireworks. we are planning to leave TO early Sunday and dont have to be back untill after dinner Monday.
Vintage Hotels Brunch
We are going to Niagara on the lake for the weekend and are thinking of staying Sunday for brunch. They offer this at thw of the hotels - the Cannery (Pillar and Post) and Tiara (Queens Landing).
Is one better than the other? I am a vegetarian who may eat fish on occasion and my husband doesnt eat any red meat (but not vegetarian) - what would be the better choice?
Are they on par with what is offered at King Eddy?
thanks!
Mt Pleasant south of Eglinton
I am taking a friend out for dinner Wednesday night - any suggestions?
Ideally something with fish/veg options and quality is a must - she is a real foodie.
thanks!
Saturday Brunch in Scarborough
it is quite a sad state...no brunch out that way? not saying that amazing teds might not be amazing or that i dont like pub grub...just not interested in any dog hair.
perhaps i will try to convince them to drive west of vic park. does the danforth have any saturday "brunch" offerings?
Saturday Brunch in Scarborough
ok, here is the deal...we are taking in-laws out for brunch and they live out in the east end of Scarborough (pt union/lawrence - so might as well be Pickering).
we do not really know the area and they are unwilling to come closer to the city. in order to avoid swiss chalet or some other food nightmare I am looking for suggestions. I would love a proper brunch...but anything decent food, not too $$ and not chinese (they wont go for this - already suggested).
thanks!
Best "cool" takeout
ok, fellow chowhounders - I need help. We are taking dinner/food to my MIL for Mothers day - tonight. She is not a big eater - she likes apps and starters. In the past we have taken her out - we had the best luck with Black Swan, Kultura, Fresh.... so as you see the type of food is not too important (other than it travelling well).
Any ideas - we are travelling from midtown to Annex area - so not too far off that route would be best - but all reasonable suggestions appreciated.
thanks!
Michelle Bellerose ?
thanks for the info....it is too bad she isnt here and we cant enjoy in her good for you and yummy meals.
Michelle Bellerose ?
Does anyone know if Michelle Bellerose is still doing her thing? I tried doing a search on her but didnt see anything after her stint at the Old Nick (which is still serving a variation on her organic brunch).
Sunday Brunch/Lunch on The Danforth between Donlands and Broadview?
where is Michelle Bellerose now? Loved her breakfast.
Moms day brunch
Hmmm..... havent been to JK - but have wanted to try it - is the space stroller friendly?
I have been to the HH Grill - i like that they use a lot of organic/natural produce - but I found it is heavy on meats. And - Thuet is VERY heavy on meat.
Seriously - we are looking for something for a flexible vegetarian - not a carnivore.
Moms day brunch
Ok, planning a Mothers day brunch for someone who is a flexible vegetarian (eats fish, eggs and dairy). There will be 4-5 of us including a 10 month old - so not looking for a place that frowns on babies.
I would like it to be somewhat hip - but not willing to give up on quality of the food for the sake of hipness.
Any ideas?
Amaya Express take out - So-So!!
that is absolutely disgusting. eat at Kamasutra - it is just down the road from Amaya.
Is there decent buffet/AYCE in Toronto/GTA?
Somebody just told me about Thee Asian - anyone tried it?
Is there decent buffet/AYCE in Toronto/GTA?
Ok - I have asked a few coworkers and Tuckers and Sisters seem to be a lot like Town & Country in terms of genre of offering (not enthnic enough). They are a bit bland for our taste.
I don't know anyone who has tried Great Mongolian - is it good for vegetarians too? What does the buffet have? Stations?
Is there decent buffet/AYCE in Toronto/GTA?
Seeing as Chef of India is NOT an option - any other ideas? Not Indian...
Thank you for your suggestions!
Is there decent buffet/AYCE in Toronto/GTA?
Indian is ok as long as it is NOT halal - Chef of India is halal.
This is why we stay away from many Indian buffets at family gatherings. I do go to Brar - veg buffet - but my meat eating family is not fond of anything without meat.
Any other ideas? Any decent Chinese buffet?
Is there decent buffet/AYCE in Toronto/GTA?
I have never been to a buffet that I thought was great - but I would be willing to have decent.
I am going to dinner this weekend with my family - and it is always difficult to find a restaurant that works for everyone. We are looking for something that works for meat eaters, vegetarians, and my grandmother who is obsessed with chinese buffet (her ideal is Mandarin - argh).
We have tried the one at Warden and Eglinton (dont recall the name - it was that unmemorable), we have also tried Town & Country - and as expected our grandmother was not happy (either were us vegetarians - the pasta dishes were as expected - mushy and bland).
I would like to try to appease everyone - and appreciate your advice!
