Anniversary Dinner in Tribeca

-2 for American Cut, it doesn't hold up to other steak houses in the same price range.

Jersey Farms Crushed Tomatoes - Source???

Any update on this? I've been scouring NYC for a year now looking for these and they seemed to have disappeared. I'm talking about the ones with the brown paper bag looking cans. I used to see them at whole foods occasionally, but they haven't had them for some time. No luck at fairway or the gourmet store in Chelsea market anymore either. Would love to find them if possible.

Large Group Dinner for 20ppl +/-

Trusted Chowhounders,

I'm tasked every year with planning a company holiday dinner and I need some ideas. We're around 20 people, have a budget of around $150/person (all-in including booze, tax, and tip). In the past i've budgeted around $40/person in booze, so food costs should run no more than around $80/person.

All cuisines are open and downtown locations are preferred, but will travel above 14th. Some locations we've done in the past are Public, Saxon and Parole, and L'artusi for an idea of what has worked well.

Thanks!

Downtown Columbia, SC Recs

I'm heading down this weekend for a wedding and will be staying at the Marriott in SC with no access to a car. Browsing these boards, and embaressingly Yelp, it seems like Motor Supply Co is a good lunch choice. Anything else walkable?

And does Anson Mills have a retail store?

Thanks,

Great Indian Place in/around Fulham?

Hi All,

I'm coming to London the first week of April for a wedding, and will also be celebrating a birthday dinner during the same period. I'm hopeful to find a great indian restaurant for the occasion and wanted to send this question out into the Chow void.

We'll be staying in Fulham, so close to there would be ideal if possible - but we'll travel. Also, while i'm not entirely opposed to high end places like Mohti Mahal and Quilon - if there's a good place at a more reasonable price point that'd make me very happy.

Finally, while I normally could care less, a nice ambiance is preferable too since I have a...particular...mother-in-law.

Thanks in advance,

Destination Restaurant in northern New Hampshire?

Really appreciate the great recommendations, looks like i'll find something good from all of these, thanks.

Destination Restaurant in northern New Hampshire?

Thanks so much for the Yesterdays recommendation, looks like a place i'll have to check out.

As for good dinner spots, do you know anything about some of the Inns/B&Bs that serve food? Like the Wentworth or The Inn at Thorn Hill?

Destination Restaurant in northern New Hampshire?

In mid July i'm planning on driving from Montreal to Bar Harbor, ME - and since I don't feel like making the 7 hour plus drive in one go I was looking for a place to stop over for a night midpoint, which appears to be around the White Mountain National Forest in NH. Jackson looks like a charming town there, but if there are any excellent dining options in the general (hour drive) area I would love to use that as a reason to stop. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Burlington, Vermont area: Best places to hit on a long weekend

I did a NJ to Burlington trip a year ago and fell in love with two places:

http://www.henofthewood.com/ - this is an incredibly charming restaurant maybe a half hour or so drive from Burlington. Great local food and a beautiful environment, especially if it's a nice night and you can get a seat outside in the patio area infront of the waterfall.

and

http://americanflatbread.com/restaura... - granted this is a pizza place and a chain, but I thought the pizza was to die for, the place is a lot of fun and casual but still nice, and has a great beer selection - if that's your thing.

As for one more thing to do, I'd also highly recommend renting a bike and using the main bike path. It's a healthy but easy trip and a great way to see some beautiful scenery.

http://www.localmotion.org/ - this place has all of the details. Enjoy!

Bon Appetit Magazine Going Totally Downhill

I'm going to echo these sentiments. Love Lucky Peach. When is volume II coming out?

Bon Appetit Magazine Going Totally Downhill

This is interesting because I find myself thinking how much I like the new format and articles, but maybe i'm a different demographic because I subscribe to GQ too...I think I read somewhere that they recently switched headquarters from South Carolina to NYC, so maybe it's some regional preferences.

The Counter - West Coast burger chain in NYC

Not a big fan of The Counter. If Umami or better yet Father's Office ever make it this way i'll lead the parade.

Unique Woodbridge area dinner spot

Old Bay in New Brunswick would also work. They have a good bar scene with a good beer selection and tasty cajun bites.

Frog and the Peach behaving badly.

I have to say I got the biggest kick out of this post because I just went to a Valentine's day dinner at The Frog and the Peach last night and encountered exactly what the OP is talking about. I'm glad I read this post even before I went to dinner because it really made everything the waiter did so much more comical. Pretty much at every turn he took an opportunity to upsell us. He wasn't pushy once I politely declined (and once even took his advice) but it was completely methodical and I can see how it might annoy some people. I guess it was just a good thing I was prepared because it really was funny.

Spotted Pig Burger - Frozen Patty???

As I was on my way out of the Spotted Pig last night I saw a line cook walk through the front door with a tray of perfectly round and flat, stacked burger patties. Suffice it to say, they looked like frozen patties. Not that it really matters as these are great burgers, but does the Spotted Pig really use frozen patties? Just curious - anyone know?

Mallorca/Majorca Restaurant Help

Thanks so much for the feedback so far. I'm very much considering Plat D'Or since i'll be spending some time in Palma anyway. Anything else that you all could recommend? Any thoughts on Forn De Sant Joan? A colleague recommended it to me and was curious.

Thanks again!

Mallorca/Majorca Restaurant Help

As a good chowhounder i've tried doing my research, but i'm not finding great info on restaurants in Mallorca. I'm staying in Peguera for a few nights and would love some great, can't miss, dining recs. I'm not hugely familiar with the layout of the island so i'd hope to stay somewhere close enough to take a taxi without breaking the bank. I am willing to splurge for a good meal though, so i'd love to hear anything and everything people have to say.

The place on my radar right now is el raco d'es teix , any thoughts?

Also, places that are a la carte are preferred because my dining companion is allergic to shellfish, which i imagine being a problem on most tasting menus.

THanks!

Burlington Question

I'm very excited to make my first trip to Burlington, VT this weekend and was hoping to get some local perspective on my itinerary. One night i'm planning on making the "trek" out to Hen of the Wood, but i'm still a little torn on what to do my first night. Right now I have a reservation for Trattoria Delia, but i'm starting to wonder if two big, formal dinners is ideal or if I should try to get something different in. Especially after a long drive (5 hours). The idea of a more casual place (but still great food) with maybe some live music would be great, and Bluebird Tavern seemed to fill that, but it has kind of gotten slammed on this board. If i'm going in aware of the small plates, is it going to be a good option? Or should I try a different place and try to head over to the radio bean or something else afterwards.

Love to hear anyone's thoughts! Thanks.

Looking for places similar to Westville, Jimmy's No 43, and Northern Spy Food Co

So I find myself frequenting and loving these three places lately that I feel like have a lot of similarties. Market driven (but i guess who isn't), affordable, casual. And above all else great food. Can anyone recommend other places that may be similar to these?

Looking for best Jazz brunch

It may not be the best, but one that i know of and think is decent is Jules on St. Marks. The jazz starts around 12-1 and it's definitely not sleazy. Roomy inside too so you could probably easily get a table for 10 - 15.

Best Wings in NYC? Please share your recco's...I'll post mine in this message..

Dinosaur BBQ's wings are amazing, i'll attest to that. I also really enjoy the wings at Brother Jimmy's surprisingly enough. Think the wings at Momofuku are totally overrated (though I love the place still), and for more classic hot wings i think Blondies is the best.
