BVI's on a boat
And as a note, try traveltalkonline.com. SVG is under Southern Carribean and you may find some good/interesting information there on all things sailing around the SVG.
BVI's on a boat
The Grenadines are, by far, my favorite sailing spot. We started in St. Vincent and headed south so our spots may not coordinate with yours. We loved Mustique! Very sleepy but had a wonderful dinner at Firefly and enjoyed toodling around the island admiring the architecture. There are 2 gourmet markets there with lots of specialty items as well as a fresh fruit and veg stand. You can find locally caught fish by following the fishing boat trail. Bequia also has great provisioning with a big fresh fruit and veg market. We found the sellers aggressive which was off putting. DO NOT MISS the Tobago Cays. Supply up before you go and you can supplement with goods from the boat boys. Look for Walter. He comes around early and is definitely the elder statesman of boat boys. His wife sends him out with fresh baked banana bread and he always has baguettes and ice. If you ask him, he will bring you anything. The guys also come around with their fresh catch which is wonderful. If it's lobster season, dont miss out. They will cook it on the beach for you and bring it to the boat or you can go to the beach and join others. Have a great time!
Amalfi Coast--Best place for lunch and dinner in each charming town
Lunch or dinner on the glorious terrace at hotel San Pietro in Positano. What a treat for the senses!
Graduation time in Newcastle
Any comments on the restaurant Six? We like he views it offers but wondering about the food?
Graduation time in Newcastle

Graduation time in Newcastle
We have 2 nights in Newcastle in July for uni graduation. Staying at the Jesmond Dene and would like recos for one celebration dinner and then something a little more casual. I like the idea of a great (gastro) pub and have seen several listed. Feathers Inn, Pan Haggerty and Broad Chare. Any thoughts? We like the idea of quayside and are considering Cafe 21 for the celebration dinner. Any thoughts on Blackfriars? I fear it is too kitschy but have no idea. Help appreciated.
Santa Margherita Ligure hidden (or not so) gems?
Thanks all! Nonna Nina is definitely on the list! My college summers were spent a little farther west in Liguria and you reminded about how wonderful freshly baked foccacia is at 3 in the morning! Hoping I dont have to stay up that late! Good times.
Santa Margherita Ligure hidden (or not so) gems?
We hav 3 nights in SML in July and am hoping for some interesting suggestions for drinking and dining. It sounds like Portofino is the place to skip for food except for a drink on the terrace at the Splendido for a splurge. Any ideas for some great seafood? A family run trattoria? We have a pizza lover on the trip as well. Staying at the Grand Hotel Miramare and willing to move around for great food!
Stone crab claws on the menu?
Has anyone seen stone crab claws on the menu anywhere recently now that they are in season?
Girls Lunch near Bliss Spa 49th Street
Fig and Olive at 10 East 52nd Street could be a great spot post spa.

Mala Strana Prague
Restaurant David is on our list! of possibilities! We also have reservations at Kampa Park and U Zlate Studne for our other 2 nights. none of us have ever been to PRague and we are really looking forward to it. Will definitely report back!
Mala Strana Prague
We are going to Prague for 3 days next week and are staying in the Mala Strana. Wondering if anybody has any good recs for a semi casual dining experience in that neighborhood. We will have my 81 year old mother so I am not talking a noisy pub or the likes. I quite like the idea of a restaurant that is in one of the caves that seem to be all over. We will be at the Mandarin Oriental and would like to be able to walk. Thanks in advance!
Babbo - Birthday dinner with teens?
I tend to agree that you should look elsewhere. Went to Babbo Sat. night. My companions pasta was so poorly cooked it had to be sent back. They did have the good grace to take it off the bill. The rest of the dinner was just OK. I really dont understand the hype. I keep trying to give it another chance and it just doesnt ever win me over. If you do give it a try, be sure not to set the bar too high that way you wont be disappointed.
what was the best dish you made/ate this summer?
Fresh from the Farmer's Market fingerling potatos, yellow and green string beans, shallots with a vinagrette served room temp. Addictive.
Also fresh from the farmer's market, yellow tomato soup (served cold or hot) with shallots, garlic, cayenne and fresh basil. Summer in bowl.
Thanksgiving in NYC
My family has found that Thanksgiving is such a personal thing with partucular menu favorites that you probably will not get anything just like grandma used to make in any restaurant. Keep that in mind. Having said that, we had a spectacular dinner at The River Cafe. The atmosphere and the food were great. We also tried the Carlyle. It was absolutely packed with families and the funnest part was going into Bemelman's afterwards for a night cap and a sing along with the piano player.
All inclusive Resorts with great food?
We stayed at Goldeneye in Jamaica and the food was great. There isnt a menu per se but they have some locals in the kitchen cooking up delicious selections that you wont get at any other resort restaurant in Jamaica. Lots of local flavor and spice. Soups, stews, rice. Delicious. We loved the entire Goldeneye experience.
BVI's on a boat
We actually did not end up going for dinner because it was our first night and we all ended up being exhausted. I did hear really good things about it and apparently the view is sensational. Have you checked their website? www.brandywinebay.com
Ottimo, a really pleasant find
I searched for a place that had great pasta and pizza but wasnt requiring major waits and ear plugs....and I found it. Total crap shoot. And it was great, so I felt the need to share. Ottimo on west 24th. Old world NY Italian feel. Lovely big bar at the front. The whole place wood paneled. Tables not soclose together that you are sitting in your neighbors lap. Big table with all the antipasti on view. Prosciutto on the hand slicer, huge wheel of parmesan. Really lovely staff. Wood fire oven with the chef hailing from Naples. So he knows how to make a pizza. We had a Margarita. Thin crust, good sauce to cheese ratio and fresh basil. Fried calamari was good. It's not my favorite thing but the plate was cleaned by the table. Delicious bruschetta. Vampires need not order. We had the special 4 cheese risotto. Delicious. Special home made tagliatelle with artichoke hearts, capers, olives, cherry tomatoes and garlic. Yum. And my favorite, gnocchi with pesto. Took me back to my college days when my Italian boyfriends father used to make it for us, in Liguria. Didnt love the flourless chocolate/walnut cake they brought us. All in all, a really great find. And it will be a great cool weather spot. I look forward to returning for the food, atmosphere and staff.
Good pizza and pasta resto in lower manhattan?
We ended up at Ottimo on west 24th. Looooved it. Old fashioned Italian with the antipasti choices out on a big table. Lovely bar area. GREAT staff. Delicious pizza.from a wood oven. Wonderful pasta. Dean Martin on the CD. And quiet enough for conversation. No packed hysteria with long waits. I look forward to spending some cold weather time there. Really charming.
Recs for good waterfront dining in Manhattan or Brooklyn
The Water Club. Upstairs outside for casual or inside downstairs for more formal. Great raw bar. And a fantastic Sunday brunch buffet.
Good pizza and pasta resto in lower manhattan?
Looking to appeal to teenagers and adults who all like pizza and pasta. didnt want just a pizza joint. Was considering Otto. Will also check out Resto.
Good pizza and pasta resto in lower manhattan?
Any suggestions for a restaurant below 30th, east or west that has good brick oven pizza and yummy pastas? Could be fancy or casual. Price not an issue. And we have to be able to get in tonight. I tohught Little Italy would be fun but dont know if there is anything down there. Thanks in advance!
THE BEST NY STYLE PIZZA-Union Square area
I dont know about NY style, but it's awful delicious at Luzzo's. 1st avenue at around 11th. Try the "Martha" with Robbiola cheese and truffle oil. Or there is one with arugula and prosciutto. Coal oven. Crispy crust. It gets busy. And you can get drinks there...
B&G Oysters Questions, Please!
We walked in and got a seat on the patio. It is sort of communal or more like close quarters. We made friends with our neighbors immediately and had a great time. Wait staff was fantastic as well.
I am not an oyster fan but in general they are ordered as an app. and by the piece unless there is a sampler platter or something. Get the server to recommend for you and explain the differences.
Bermuda: going next week: Top 3 Restaurants, bars???
No! I have only ever been for dinner.
Reasonable french food
Jubilee. 54th between 1st and 2nd. Great little neighborhood spot. Vegetarian friendly. Reservations a must. Dont miss the yummy frites...
Wildwood BBQ
I have to say, we went last night and the dry rub ribs were really good. Wet good but not as good. We also had baked beans with burnt ends and those were delicious. Mac and cheese totally flavorless as was the cole slaw.
Bermuda ,Little Mom and Pop Joints off the beatin path
Dont forget the Ice Queen for late night burgers and fries!
Bermuda in July: Simple Food
Thw Waterlot at Southampton Princess is a steak house and has gorgeous views. A hike from Grotto Bay. Also Blu at The Belmont could be a good choice for you. I am sure they both have websites. I like Micky's at Elbow Beach too but not so much for the food. More for the feet in the sand. Skip Cafe Lido. Too sterile hotel feeling if you only have a short time on the island.
Bermuda: going next week: Top 3 Restaurants, bars???
If you are at Grotto Bay, try Rustico in Flatts for dinner. Has a nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and garen dining as well. It's Italian and really quite good and reasonable on island standards. Bermuda isnt a culinary wonderland so keep that in mind. Another spot I like, not so much for food but setting is Micky's at the Elbow Beach Hotel. It's right on the beach and if you have a good moon night you can watch it rise with your feet in the sand. Reservations a MUST. I havent been but have lots of friends who like Blu at TheBelmont. Open for lunch and dinner with views of Great Sound. Someone mentioned the Swizzle Inn here. Very much a Bermuda institution. Be careful of those swizzles though! They serve them by the pitcher in martini glasses and they will sneak up on you! Enjoy Bermuda. So, so beautiful!
